Rules of Pranayam
Importance Of Pranyam And Its Benefits

Pranayama has the capacity of freeing the mind from untruthfulness, ignorance and all
other painful and unpleasant experiences of the body and mind; and when the mind
becomes clean it becomes easy for the Sadhaka to concentrate on the desired object and it
becomes possible for him to progress further in the direction of Dhyana and Samadhi.

By Yog asanas, we remove the distortions and disabilities of the physical body and bring
it into discipline. However Pranayama influences the subtle and the physical bodies in a
greater measure than Yogsanas do and that too in a perceptible manner. In the human
body, lungs, heart and brain hold very important positions and they depend on each other
heavily for their health.

Physically, Pranayam appears to be a systematic exercise of respiration, which makes the


lungs stronger, improves blood circulation, makes the man healthier and bestows upon
him the boon of a long life. Physiology teaches us that the air (Prana) we breathe in fills
our lungs, spreads in the entire body, providing it with essential form the body, take them
to the heart and then to the lungs, which throws the useless material like carbon dioxide
out of the body through the act of exhalation. If this action of the respiratory system is
done regularly and efficiently, lungs become stronger and blood becomes pure.

However, most of the people do not ha ve the habit of breathing deeply with the result
that only one-fourth part of the lungs is brought into action and 75 percent remains idle.
Like the honeycomb, lungs are made of about 73 million cells, comparable to a sponge in
their making. On normal breathing, to which we all are accustomed, only about 20
million pores in the lungs get oxygen, whereas remaining 53 million pores remain
deprived of the benefit, with the result that they get contaminated by several diseases like
tuberculosis, respiratory diseases and several ailments like coughing, bronchitis etc.

In this way, the inefficient functioning of the lungs affects the process of blood
purification. Heart weakens because of this with a constant possibility of untimely death.
It is for this reason that the importance of Pranayama has come to be recognised, for a
healthy long life. Several diseases can be averted by regular practice of
Pranayama.Hence, it is obvious that the knowledge of the science of Pranayama and its
regular practice enables a man to lead a healthy and long life. It is for this reason that in
several Hindu religious rites, Pranayama is found to have been introduced as an essential
element.

Mental disturbances like excitement, anxiety, fear, anger, disappointment, lust for sex
(lasciviousness) and other mental perversions can be calmed down by regular practice of
Pranayama. Besides, Pranayama practice improves the functions of the brain cells with
the result that memory and the faculty of discrimination and observation improves,
making it easy for the Sadhaka to perform concentration and meditation.

Another benefit of Pranayama is that by its regular practice, habit of deep breathing is
developed which results in several health benefits. It is said that the nature determines our
life span on the basis of the number of respirations we do. Man gets the next birth in
accordance with his karmas (deeds) done in the present life.

Our karmas (deeds) result in the formation of certain tendencies, which determine the
nature of our next birth either as humans or as animals of various categories. A man, who
regularly performs Pranayama, is required to take lesser number of breaths and therefore
lives longer.

Some rules for Pranayam

• Select a clean and peaceful place for doing Pranayama. If possible, choose a place
near a clean pond or river.
• As there is a lot of pollution in the cities, some kind of incense can be lit like
Guggulu and purified butter, to create a clean environment at that place, igniting a
lamp with purified butter only, can also serve the purpose.
• Sit either in any of the Asanas, viz. Padmasana, Sidhasana or Vajrasana, which
ever you find convenient. The sheet or cloth (cotton or wool etc.) on which you sit
must be a non-conductor of electricity.
• Breathe only through the nose, because by doing so the air which you take in, is
filtered. During daytime when you are not sitting for the performance of
Pranayama make it a habit to do respire only through nose and not through mouth.
Nasal respiration keeps the temperature of the Nadis (Vessels) –’Ida’,Pingala and
’susmana’ even. It also prevents foreign and harmful objects from getting into
lungs.
• Like ‘Yog’, Pranayama should also be performed four or five hours after taking
food. In the morning Pranayama should be done after finishing daily routine acts
like cleansing mouth, emptying of bowels etc., it should also be done before
Yogsana. In the beginning Pranayama should be done for five or ten minutes
gradually the time may be increased up to about 1/2 or 1 hour. Maintain a specific
number of repetitions and do not variate. Maintain a specific rhythm. If it is not
possible to clean the bowels by morning, at night take some mild laxative like
terminalia chebula (Indian Hardaya) or any other mild laxative (a non habit
forming medicinal herb having a laxative effect). Kapala-bhati Pranayama, if
done regularly for a few days will help in curing constipation.
• Keep your mind calm and composed. However, Pranayama can also calm down
the disturbed mind and keep one happy.
? Methods of Pranayama may be varied according to the seasons and your own
physical make up and mental attitude. Keep this in mind and modulate the method
accordingly. Some Pranayama increase the body temperature, whereas, some
bring it down. Some Pranayama maintain the temperature at the normal level.
• If you feel fatigued in the course of doing Pranayama , rest for sometime and then
begin deep breathing, which will remove the fatigue.
• Pregnant women, hungry persons, persons suffering from fever and those who are
lustful having no control on their passions should not do Pranayama . If you are
sick, keep in mind the instructions to be followed by sick persons while during
Pranayama.
• For prolonged exercises of Pranayama, observance of celibacy is necessary.
Besides, food should be simple not containing irritating spices. It should be
‘Sattvika’ – (Plain and simple, non-spicy food). Use of cow’s milk, ghee (clarified
butter), fruits and green vegetables can be said to be ideal food. Moderation also
is a good rule to observe.
• Do not strain yourself while doing ‘Kumbhak’ i.e. retaining the breathed air inside
or keeping the air out after exhaling (Breathing in is called ‘puraka’, retaining the
breathed air in is called ‘Kumbhak’ and exhaling the air is called ‘Recak’).
• Pranayama does not mean just breathing in, keeping the breathed air in and
exhaling it. It also means establishing control on the entire breathing process, and
maintaining mental equilibrium, and concentration of mind.
• It is beneficial to chant the mantra (a group of words that carry vibrations and
energy) Om (the first cosmic soundless sound), aloud and repeat the same several
times before doing Pranayama. Even recital of sacred songs in the praise of
almighty God or recital of some sacred hymns may be beneficial. This will calm
your mind and make you fit for Pranayama, because a peaceful mind is very
essential while doing Pranayama . Mental or loud recitation of Gayatri Mantra
(considered as one of the greatest mantra, used in meditation and also for
chanting) or any other sacred hymn brings spiritual benefits to the Sadhaka. See
that while doing Pranayama , none of your organs such as mouth, eyes, nose, etc.
feels any strain and it should be done gradually without any undue stress or strain.
All the organs of the body should be kept in normal condition. While doing
Pranayama sit in an erect posture. Keep your spine and neck straight. This is
essential for reaping the full benefit of Pranayama .
• If possible Pranayama should be done after your usual morning functions like
cleansing of mouth, evacuation of bowels, bathing etc. However, if it becomes
necessary for you to take bath after Pranayama , keep an interval of about 15 to 20
minutes between Pranayama and bathing. For acquiring proficiency in Pranayama
do not depend on books or what is done and preached by others. Seek the
guidance of an expert and do Pranayama under his direct supervision.
Different treatise advocating or dealing with the subject of Pranayama describe
several methods and each of them has its own importance. However, it is not
possible for most people to do all these exercises daily. Hence, with the blessings
of our teachers and in view of our experience, we have evolved seven methods of
Pranayama , which incorporate into themselves, almost all the peculiarities of
Pranayama rendering them scientific and useful from a spiritual point of view. All
these seven types of Pranayama can be done, as a routine and in a time bound
programme of about 20 minutes. The person who does these exercises daily and
following benefits which are briefly described as under:regularly can attain
• All the three Doshas (Humors) – Vata , pitta and Kapha get adjusted in
proper proportion and abnormalities in them are removed.
• Digestive system improves and diseases pertaining to digestive organs are
cured.
• Diseases pertaining to lungs, heart and brain are also cured.
• Obesity, Diabetes, Cholesterol, Constipation, Flatulence, Acidity, Respiratory
troubles, Allergy, Migraine, High blood pressure, diseases pertaining to
kidneys, sexual disorders of males and females etc. are also cured.
• Resistance against diseases is stepped up. Immunity develops.
• Hereditary diseases like diabetes and heart disease are can be avoided.
• Falling of hair or its premature graying, appearance of wrinkles on face or
other parts of the body at young age, diminution of eye sight, forgetfulness,
etc. are relieved and process of aging is retarded.
• Face becomes bright, luminous and calm.
• Energy Chakra are cleansed and enables the practitioner to awaken the
Kundalini.
• Mind becomes stable and tranquil. A sense of contentment and enthusiasm or
zeal develops. Conditions like depression are relieved.
• Performance of yogic exercises like meditation will be easy.
• All the diseases of the physical and etheric bodies will be cured. Freedom
from negative and harmful mental conditions like anger, lasciviousness,
greed for money, arrogance etc. will be achieved.
• All the physical and mental disorders and abnormalities are cured and toxins
eradicated from the body.

Freedom from negative thinking is achieved and the mind develops the habit

of positive and constructive thinking.

Swami Ramdev yoga can change your health & Mind in positive way if you do it as
Swami Ramdev tells you to do. In today’s fast life it is very easy to get depressed. The
work places, Schools & homes are like mind war zones and people try to put each other
down which is common cause of stress. In today’s world pollution makes our body
weak as we don’t get enough pure oxygen & good food for our body. Going to doctor is
not easy as it takes lots of time and money to get diagnosis and to cure some problem in
body may take long time and doctors may or may not able to help you in health issues.
Now a days most of the doctors take their patients like money making assets for their
business and more they delay your health problems cure, more they make money. Most
of doctors don’t want to cure us they just want us to be sick so they could make money.
Not all the doctors are bad but not every doctor is doing good for society. And even if
doctor wants to cure your problem you will get medicine, which can be fake as 30% of
medicines you get from the market are fake in INDIA. So it is luck whether you get
genuine medicine or not. So going through doctors and medicine consume your precious
time and money. Prevention is better than cure. Yoga can make your body so strong that
you don’t have see doctors as often and you will feel good after doing Swami Ramdev
Yoga. Your stress problems & Migraine pain problems will just disappear in matter of
days. You will start getting benefits from day one and above all you can do Swami
Ramdev’s Yoga in your home on your bed or sofa.

DO’s :
1. Drink of warm water in the morning. After going toilet when you stomach is empty
before breakfast. Then Do Swami Ramdev Yoga Swami Ramdev’s set of 6
pranayamason Aastha Channel (National) 5.30 A.M.-8.00 A.M.& 8.00 P.M.-9.00 P.M.,
Aastha Channel (International) 5.00 A.M.-7.30 A.M. & 7.00 P.M.-8.00 P.M. other
channels Timings

Timing & duration of Bhastrika, kapalbhati, Baharya, Aunlom Vilom,


Bhramari, Udgeeth – When and How long Swami Ramdev Yoga
should be done

Best Time to do Swami Ramdev Yoga is in Morning 4 or 5 o’clock for lazy people 6 is
max. As in morning oxygen is fresh and clear. below are the effective duration if you
want Swami Ramdev Yoga to work for you. Just like water boils at certain temperature,
does not matter how many times we start boiling the water, if we don’t make water reach
the specific temperature it will not boil. So same way if you do yoga less then the time
frame told by Swami Ramdev this will not work. Do it regularly for fast results twice a
day.

Bhastrika Pranayam (Swami Ramdev Yoga): 5 Minutes, can take breaks if needed.

KapalBhati Pranayam (Swami Ramdev Yoga): 10 Minutes for a Health Person who
want to keep their body organs healthy, 15 to 30 Minutes to cure body problems. 30 to 60
Minutes to loose weight. Tip: 5 Minutes of continues Kapalbhati is needed to cure
problems.

Baharya Pranayam (Swami Ramdev Yoga): 3 times to 5 times normally. max upto 11
times. and extremely max upto 21 times (in winters).

Anulom Vilom Pranayam Swami Ramdev: 5 to 10 Minutes for a Health Person who
want to keep their body organs healthy, 15 to 30 Minutes to cure body problems.

For cancer patients, kidneys patients, lever patients: 30 to 40 Minutes for rapid effect.
2 times a day in morning before breakfast in evening before dinner.

Bhramri Pranayam (Swami Ramdev Yoga) : 10 to 20 Times works good for brain, to
relieve stress, depression.

Udgeeth Pranayam (Swami Ramdev Yoga): 10 to 20 normally, it is meditation also if


you like you can do it as long as you want. Short temper people should do it more often it
will calms down their nerves and temper.
2. Greet your elders in morning you will get blessings from your mother and others which
will help you to be successful in your life.

3. Do Swami Ramdev Yoga for atleast 25 minutes. Deep breathing for 5 minutes and
Kapalbhati for 10 minutes and Anulomvilom for 10 minutes and your health problem will
disappear one by one upto 90% in some patients 100%.

4. Eat Green Vegetables.

5. Drink fresh Juices ( loki, Palak, Gehu Ka Jawara)

6. Eat Garlic(Chatni) with dinner or lunch because

Garlic is cheap and Blood Purifier, Antioxidant, Anti-toxic, Anti-cancer


& which Protects cells against damage by free radicals found in
environmental pollutants including heavy metals & have been used to
shrink hemorrhoids.

7. Use organic soaps, shampoos & tooth pastes.

DON’Ts:
1. Don’t drink pop like coke, Pepsi or any other carbonated water. Research
suggests people drink a lot of soft drinks risk becoming fat, weak-
boned, cavity-prone, cancer-prone & above all use common sense we
breathe out the carbon dioxide(which toxic and body through it out
with every breathe out). Our body is constantly working to get rid of
carbon dioxide and with pop or carbonated drinks you are putting
carbon dioxide back in your body. Because of liquid form it goes in
your blood stream making all kind problems. A pregenent woman puts
the health of her child on risk by drinking pop drinks, Children may
born with physical disabilities if too much of pop drinks are consumed.

2. Don’t eat fast food as it has lots of bad things hidden which are bad
for your body. Mostly this food has toxins as it not made fresh even if
they pretend to make it fresh it is all freezed and microwaved. Which
makes the food toxic.
3. Don’t disrespect your elder specially your mother ever, you owe her
your life. You are reading this article because she kept you in her
womb for 9 months.

4. Don’t watch porn as it can destroy your whole life. Whatever you
see it is not just images All the porn you watch will be stored in your
memory in chemical form forever. And can spoil your ability to choose
between right and wrong. By watching porn you will become more
restless and will be more frustrated in your life. Porn put seed, which
is self destruction in your mind and after watching porn you may end
up having sex with anyone avaliable which can put you on risk of
contracting life threatening disease.

5. Don’t cheat on your partner be honest to your partner.

6. Don’t be jealous from other success it will make you restless inside.

7. Don’t take the things for granted & Be thankful to GOD and pray to
GOD before starting work, GOD has given you more than what you
deserve, after all the bad things you have done in your life.

8. Don’t ever try drugs/cigrates/alcohal or any kind of known bad


thing. These things can destroy your family life and career.

9. Don’t disrespect poor people. Apart from you having more money
than a poor person. A poor person is as important human being as
you. A poor person has same desires as you have. A poor person
deserves as much respect as you expect from others. A poor person is
powerless but you don’t misuse your power. Beware there is GOD who
is more powerful than you and your money will be useless in front of
GOD.

10. Don’t trust too much on your friends. Friends should NOT be more
important than your family. Friends can cheat and deceive you when
you trust them too much.

Baba ramdev weight loss recipe


Swami Ramdev suggests below items for weight loss:
1. Eat 1 roti only
2. Eat Green Vegetables
3. Eat Salad 4. Ankurit Dalle, Sprouts Eat 2 times a day only, If feel hungry eats salads &
Fruit/Fruit juices. Dont eat fried allo/gobi pranathas, sabzi like allo bangan, bhindi, arbi,
kattal, butter paneer & shahi paneer etcs which have lots of ghee in it. Try to eat sabzi

Cycling in laying position(sleep position)

How to do it:
1. Lay on ground or bed or which ever place lets you lay down.

2. Start moving your legs the we do in cycle. Do it 50 times by taking breaks if needed
after 20 cycling movements.

3. Repeat cycling movement with legs opposite direction. Do it 50 times by taking breaks
if needed after 20 cycling movements.

4. Then in laying position move your feet up like 2 feet up and down. Do it with one leg
at a time.

5. Then in laying position move your both feet up like 2 feet up and down. Do it with
both leg at a time. It will make your figure look beautiful as Shilpa Shetty does it too.

Benefits:
1. Very good for people with obesity it can make you lose some weight for full effect do
Kapalbhati more.
2. People with weak legs can gain muscle by doing above exercise.
3. Your stomach size will decrease
4. Extra fat on thighs will burn away and they will come in shape.

yoga with nationhood.under DONTS option no 10 where it is said DONT TRUST
YOUR FRIENDS.we all share so many things with our friends which are not
sharable with anybody else.we get energy after speaking with our
friends.friendship to bahut ooncha jazba hai.may be we should not trust BAD
FRIENDS.

I am Sujatha, staying in South Africa. I would like to become a yoga teacher and
help the people through yoga. I would like to find out whether I can do this by
watching the videos, or do I need to go through the training. If I have to go
through training process kindly let me know if I can do it in Hyderabad. I come
from Hyderabad, Andhrapradesh. I follow your instructions from Zeetv and do
the yoga. Kindly advise me on this.

I got operated for hernia one year back. I have no other health problems. The
shops which sells guruji medicines recommended Amla Ras and Aloe vera which
I am using for the last three months. Can I do Kapal Bhati. I am watching Aastha
channel and is eager to do Kapal Bhati. Please advise me.

before you start kapalbhati your wound should healed 100%, as long as
you do it slowly and with low force you can start doing it. But DO NOT
do it too hard.

MEANT BY GHYUN KE JAWAREY KA RAS,IF I COULD NOT FOUND
PLEASE TELL ME THE ALTERNATE OPTION OF GHYUN KE JAWAREY
KA RAS.ANOTHER IF SOMEBODY HAS ONE MONTH PREGNANCY CAN
SHE DO KAPAL BHATI PRANAYAM OR NOT
BECAUSE I HAVE CONSTIPATION,COLITIS AND PILES. AND ANOTHER
MY MOTHER HEART MUSCLES ARE VERY WEAK ,WOULD YOU
PLEASE TELL ME THE REMEDY FOR HEART BLOCKAGE AND FOR
WEAK MUSCLES.

If you are pregnent you should NOT do kapalbhati. But you can do
Bhastrika, Bhramari, Anulom Vilom, Udgeeth.

Avoid drinking Packed drinks/pop such as cokacola/pepsi others. Avoid


eating packed/frozen foods. Eat green vegetables.

Om Sai Ram Baba Ji,

I am 29 years old suffering from stress, anxiety and depression which started coz
of the sexual problems i had in the past. but these things are adding on to my sex
problems now. i started feeling like there is no way out. i want to get married and
lead a happy married life, have kids and socialise with community but so far i am
unable to do this.

Kindly suggest me the exercises particularly to get fast relief from sexual
problems like erectile dysfunctiona nd premature ejaculation. And also suggest
the best diet in this condition.
I am a very firm believer in God but this condition is turning me into an evil.
please help me to get rid of this and lead to a happy and normal life.

Pranayam in morning and evening for atleast 30 minutes, avoid people


who talk evil, avoid situations which are tempting. Watch some spirtual
channel, bhramakumari’s program after Swami Ramdev Yoga Program.
1.Try not be alone, be with your family and spend time with them.
2. Stop worrying about future as future has not come yet.
3. Try to do the wise thing in present.

Ask GOD for forgiveness and start a new life to do good.

This is shruti.I am staying in Bangalore.I want to ask about my Brother He is deaf


and dumb by birth.now he is 20 year old.When he was 5 year old We showed to
Doctor he told that wait untill he becomes 18 year old.Now they r telling He will
start to speak naturally.I want to know that could it possible to treat his problem
through yoga treatment.If its possible please send me the information about the
Place where we have to show him.

Sister Shruti, Pranayam can help your brother to speak by developing his
natural ability to speak and hear. Ask him to do pranayam everday, Give
him green vegetables, spinach(Palak). It may take him 3 months to 9
months to see change in his speaking ability.
