Setup History Match

and Prediction Cases

1. Prepare History VOL file:

Right click on Global observed Select Well observed data type and select the history VOL file:

After importing, the name and properties of the imported observed data set are shown under
Global observed data folder, as well as under each well’s folder:
3. Plot Imported Observed Data

Open a new function window, on the Results tab, select an observed data set, select wells and
then a property to display:
4. Create History Match Strategy
Open Simulation\Make development strategy window, select Create new and select History
type then choose Use presets\History strategy:
5. Create History Match Strategy
Select the options as appropriate (detailed explanation for each option can be found on the
History rate control chapter on Help\Manual):
6. Create and Run History Match Cases
Open Simulation\Define simulation case window, select History strategy and enter other data as
appropriate, then run the case:
7. Create Prediction Strategy
Open Simulation\Make development strategy window, select Create new and select Prediction
type. Enter a starting date which should be generally after the history end date and add
prediction strategies as needed:
8. Create Prediction Case

On Cases tab, right click a history case then select Insert restart case:
9. Run Prediction Case
Open Simulation\Define simulation case window, select the newly generated restart case, add a
new row on Strategy tab and drop in the prediction strategy. Choose a Restart date which is at
or before the prediction strategy start date, then run the case:
10. Plot both history match and prediction results
