different assessment methods used in the classroom.

1. Observe one class and make list of assessment methods used by teacher.
2. In your list classify assessment methods as to conventional and authentic or
alternative,
3. Describe how each assessment method was used, including your personal
observations.
4. Confer with your FS teacher your assessment list.
5. Reflect on your experiences.

As you visit school and observe assessment practices, document your


observation. For your pen and paper test items, customize a table of specification,
and prepare the test material based on the prescription of the school where you do
class observation.

CONVENTIONAL TYPES DESCRIPTION OF HOW ASSESSMENT METHODS
WAS USED
This kind of assessment method was used after
the discussion to know if the students learn
something from the topic. And scores as basis to
Pencil and Paper know the strengths and weaknesses of the
Test(Quiz) students.
Teacher used this to know the effectiveness of
strategies used during the discussion and to know
if all of the objectives are have been met.
AUTHENTIC OR
ALTERNATIVE TYPE
It was used as a strategy to know if the students
can easily recall their previous learning.
Oral Questioning It was used to boost students self confidence and
active participation inside of the classroom.
It was used to practice their thinking skills and
other skills as they answer the questions with their
own words and knowledge.
1. Was there a variety of assessment methods used by the
teacher? How relevant was/were the assessment method/s used?

Yes, there were a variety of assessment methods used by the teacher,


such as pen and paper test and oral questioning, and those were relevant and
appropriate. And all of the assessment made by the teacher was based on their
lesson.

2. Do you think the expected students’ learning behaviors indicated in the


objectives were properly and appropriately assessed through those
assessment methods?
Yes, I can tell that the expected student’s learning behaviors indicated in
the objectives were properly and appropriately assessed with the help of the
strategies that teacher used during the discussion and student’s performance
was good, they really understand the lesson. And those assessment methods
were appropriate and it also helped to meet the learning objectives.

Write your personal reflection of thought and feelings about the


importance in use of appropriate assessment method in the classroom, including
what students and teacher can gain from appropriate assessment tools.
As a future educator, I realized that an assessment must be a tool to help
students improve their learning skills. Assessment tools made to improve
learning-teaching process, I must use it very well so that I will know what are the
weaknesses and strengths of my students. And I will going to improve their
weaknesses into strengths by providing them with an appropriate assessment
and by providing feedback about their performance. As a future educator, I can
also improve my teaching by knowing the weaknesses or responses of my
students. Assessment must be a tool to help both teacher and students to
improve learning.
