A message from Ms Sophie
Hello and welcome back! In Term 3, Room 17 learnt all
about botany and the lifecycle of a pear tree. Students
were able to apply their knowledge on our excursion to the
Botanical Gardens. We had so much fun exploring! Below
are some important dates and an overview of student

Library day
Library day is on Tuesday. Please return books by Monday
so your child can borrow again.
Homework expectations
 Students can practice reading using Mini Pocket
Rocket readers or numbered readers (on top of bag
lockers).
 In your child’s home book will be “tricky” words.
These words cannot be sounded out but can be
memorised with lots of practice! Your child can practice
reading and writing these words, and writing sentences
in their Home Book.
Reader Folders
It is important that your child brings their reader folder
each day and puts it in the black tub. Please help your
child to swap their readers at least three times a
week.

Our focus for this term is emotions.

Very Cranky Bear’ by Nick Bland.

 learn about the procedural text; ‘How to
make a paper plate bear’.
Maths:
 select suitable questions to collect simple
data and record responses.
 describe the location of objects by giving
simple instructions.
 improve their addition and subtraction
skills using a range of counting strategies.
Topic (Literacy/The Arts): explore feelings
through narrative texts, tiered language (e.g.
happy, excited, and ecstatic), and visual art.
Science/The Arts: experiment with paint
mixing, while combining different textures and
materials to create a paper plate bear.
Child Protection Curriculum: recognise
safe and unsafe secrets, learn strategies for
keeping safe, and develop their growth
mindset.
