The atmosphere is made up of a
mixture of gases, mostly nitrogen, oxygen,

500km above the surface of the planet. There is
no exact boundary between the atmosphere
and outer space. Atmospheric gases become
thinner the higher up you go. The atmosphere
just keeps getting less and less dense, until it
"blends" into outer space.
Why should we
protect atmosphere?
One reason is that the earth's
atmosphere acts as an insulating layer that
protects the earth's surface from the intense
light and heat of the sun. The atmosphere
protects us from UV and other short
wavelength light that would otherwise do a lot
of damage to the DNA of living organisms.

The atmosphere is shared by every
person on this Earth. When one person (or
group or nation) affects the atmosphere, it
