I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the
end of the session, the different Grade 11 students should be able to do the following:
a.
define what “management” is;
b.
identify the different management strategies in chronic injuries;
c.
design the their own health plan on chronic injuries using the “PRICE” principle.

III. LEARNING PROCESS

PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY
Standard preparation of routinely activities before the lesson proper such as greeting the class,
checking attendance, arrangement of the chairs and etc.

A. Activity – Case study


The teacher will resume the lesson about Sports injuries. This time, the teacher will now continue
with the topic: Management of Chronic Injuries. The teacher will give the students a short activity.

The teacher will give handouts to the students about a small cases study. The case study will
scenarios where athletes and non-athletes go through serious injuries. The students will provide
solutions for the case studies based on their previous topics given.

After the activity, the teacher will then ask the following questions:

A. Analysis
 What did you feel when doing the activity?
 What common variables are there?
 What can you say about the case study given to you?
 Overall, what do you think should be the solution to his predicament?

B. Abstraction
The teacher will then discuss the topic for today – Management of Chronic Injuries. The
teacher will have a to-and-fro discussion with the students.

Management of Chronic Injuries
Let’s Do This!
Demonstrate the correct CPR technique on a mannequin. Begin with the primary survey and
pretend that the person is unconscious and not breathing. Perform five cycles of 30 compressions
and two rescue breaths in less than two minutes. Ask a friend to check your technique based on
the following scoring matrix. “2 points” will be awarded if the student completes the criteria with
good technique. “1” point will be awarded for each criteria that the student hesitated to do or
performed with improper technique “0” points will be given for each criterion that the student
skipped or did not perform.
