SYNOPSIS

The proposed mechanism is to lock the differential. By locking the

differential the differential is disengaged from the axle. Thus the power is
directly transmitted to the axle and hence to the wheels. This will considerably
reduce the power loss in some occasions when unwanted loss is happening due to
the transmission if power from the shaft to the differential and then to the axle
and hence to the wheels. So in mechanism the unwanted power loss in the due
course of transmission through the differential is reduced.

There are some drawbacks in the existing mechanism and we overcome it in

the proposed project. The first is while climbing in steep hills the differential is
not really needed as the speed of the vehicle is low. And also there are some
transmission loses in the differential. So at this time the unit is locked and the
loss is overcome. Then when a heavy truck is struck in a pit or mud it is very
difficult to recover the truck as the differential unit cuts the power which is to be
transmitted to the wheel struck. So in this project the unit is disengaged and
power is directly given to the axle by pneumatic means and so the recovery is
made easier. This is even made use in the vehicle to be driven in the dense forests
and even in dessert.

WORKING PRINCIPLE
The main purpose of this project is to lock the differential or to disengage
the differential at the time when it is needed to be. So to lock the differential we
need to connect the two shafts on the either side so that the differential has no
effect on the axle. Now to connect the two shafts we use two circular plates on
the either sides of the differential.
Both are in such a way that they get mated as soon as possible even in their
rotation. So when the pneumatic valve is actuated then one of the plates is pushed
to the other so that the plates get mated and hence the shafts are connected. So
thus the differential is disengaged. To engage the differential again a spring is
used to push the plates apart. Thus this is the working principle of this project.

ADVANTAGES

 Less Manual force is required to locking the differential unit

 This pneumatic system is also working with the help of air tank
 Time consumption is less
 More efficient system and simple in construction

APPLICATIONS
 All Four wheeler application

SYNOPSIS
This project work titled “AUTOMATIC ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC
JACK FOR LIGHT VEHICLE” has been conceived having studied the
difficulty in lifting the any type of light vehicles. Our survey in the regard in
several automobile garages, revealed the facts that mostly some difficult methods
were adopted in lifting the vehicles for reconditioning. Now the project has
mainly concentrated on this difficulty, and hence a suitable electronic control unit
has been designed. Such that the vehicles can be lifted from the floor land
without application of any impact force. By pressing the button in the dashboard,
the electronic control unit activates the hydraulic jack automatically. The
fabrication part of it has been considered with almost case for its simplicity and
economy, such that this can be accommodated as one of the essential tools on
automobile garages.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
The dash pad switch was activated at the time of any breakdown condition.
The control signal is given to the solenoid valve, when the button is activated.
The same time, the motor is started which is coupled with rotary hydraulic pump.
The oil is suctioned from the oil tank and compressed oil goes to the solenoid
valve.
The solenoid valve is activated at the time of dash pad button “ON”. The
compressed fluid (oil) goes to the hydraulic cylinder. The compressed oil pusses
the hydraulic cylinder piston and move forward. The RAM is fixed at the end of
the single acting hydraulic cylinder. The piston moves towards the ground and
the ram is lifting the vehicle upwards.
The solenoid valve is deactivated at the time of dash pad button “OFF”.
The hydraulic cylinder fluid (oil) goes to the solenoid valve. Then the oil returns
back to the oil tank, by the time of deactivating the solenoid valve. Thus the extra
oil not required to maintain the oil level in the oil tank.
ADVANTAGES
 It requires simple maintenance cares
 The moving parts of this system are cooled by the oil itself used. Thus
this project does not require any cooling arrangements.
 The loaded light vehicles can be easily.
 Checking and cleaning are easy, because of the main parts are screwed.
 Handling is easy.
 Manual power not required
 Repairing is easy.
 Replacement of parts is easy.
 Maximum height up to 1.5 feet can be reached.
 No Oil wastage.
APPLICATIONS
 It is very much useful for Car Owners & Auto-garages. This automatic
electro-hydraulic jack is used for lifting the vehicles.
 Thus it can be useful for the following types of vehicles
1) MARUTI, 2) AMBASSADOR, 3) FIAT, 4) MAHINDRA, 5) TATA

SYNOPSIS
The disc brake or disk brake is a device for slowing or stopping the
rotation of a wheel. A brake disc usually made of cast iron or ceramic composites
is connected to the wheel and the axle. To stop the wheel, friction material in the
form of brake pads is forced mechanically, hydraulically, pneumatically or
electromagnetically against both sides of the disc. Friction causes the disc and
attached wheel to slow or stop. But in our project hydraulic energy is used as the
source of power, due to high applied force and torque.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
Here we are using the wheel disc with the inner arrangement of master
cylinder and brake pad as well as return spring arrangement.
The air from the compressor is used to operate the master cylinder at the certain
pressure, here the solenoid valve is used to operate the master cylinder and it is
controlled by the control unit. when ever the brake apply the control unit will
activate the solenoid valve to supply the sir from the compressor and it passed
through the master cylinder then it will extern the piston rod which is inside of
the master cylinder after releasing the control unit activate the solenoid valve to
stop the supply from the compressor, then the master cylinder will released the
piston rod to the original position by the above process we re doing the hydraulic
disc braking system.
ADVANTAGES
 Easy to operated
 Low cast
 Simple in construction
 Used in the heavy and low vehicle

SYNOPSIS
Automobile pollution is the major source of Pollution. Exhaust gas
recirculation (EGR) works by reticulating a portion of an engine's exhaust gas
back to the engine cylinders. Exhaust gas is routed back into the combustion
chamber because the exhausted air is much hotter than the intake air. Usually, an
engine recalculates’ exhaust gas by piping it from the exhaust manifold to the
inlet manifold. This design is called external EGR. A control valve (EGR Valve)
within the circuit regulates and times the gas flow. The exhaust gas is used to
rotate the carbon filter with control by gate valve arrangement. Carbon filter used
to filter the exhaust gas and pure gas rotate to inlet manifold and unwanted gases
are throughout by using gate valve arrangement. Pure gas mixed with inlet air of
carburetor. It is also good with regard to economical considerations and engine
efficiency. In which the efficiency of the Engine can be increased.

WORKING PRINCIPLE
In exhaust gas recirculation, some of the exhaust gas is drawn off from the
exhaust system; filter and redirected back into the cylinders (see Figure).
Although the exhaust fills the combustion chamber, it is not involved in the
combustion reaction that takes place in the cylinder due to its low oxygen
content. The speed of the combustion process overall is thus reduced, with the
result that the peak flame temperature in the combustion chamber is lowered.
This dramatically reduces the production of nitrogen oxides and other emissions.
ADVANTAGES
 Reductions in lubricating oil consumption
 Increases in fuel injection pressure
 Increased use of diesel oxidation catalysts, and
 Increased intake manifold boost pressure.
 Easy combustion
 Emission control

SYNOPSIS
The automobiles play an important role in the transport system. With an
increase in population and living standard, the transport vehicles as well as car
population is increasing day by day. In addition to this there is steep increase in
the number of two wheelers during the last two decades. All these are increasing
exhaust pollution and particularly in metros as density of these vehicles in metros
are very high. The main pollutants contributed by I.C. engines are CO, NOX
unburned hydro-carbons (HC) and other particulate emissions. Other sources
such as Electric power stations industrial and domestic fuel consumers also add
pollution like NOX, SO2 and particulate matters. In addition to this, all fuel
burning systems emit CO2 in large quantities and this is more concerned with the
Green House Effect which is going to decide the health of earth. In this project
vinegar is mixed with lime stone. Reaction between vinegar and lime stone is
very fast. This mixture is contacted with the exhaust gas which is emitted from
the engine exhaust valve and get well mixed and due to some chemical reactions
carbon dioxide are separated.

WORKING PRINCIPLE
As the exhaust gas passes from the exhaust port of the IC Petrol engine, it
enters into the aqua silencer. The perforated tube converts the high mass bubbles
into low mass bubbles. This gas in the perforated tube via the drilled holes enters
into the mixture of vinegar and coal powder. Since charcoal has high adsorbing
capacity, it adsorbs the harmful gases and purifies the exhaust gas. After passing
over the vinegar and charcoal mixture some of the gases dissolve in to the
vinegar and finally the exhaust gases escape through the opening in to the
atmosphere. The sound produced under waste medium is less hearable than to
that produced in air medium hence aqua silencer reduces noise and pollution.

ADVANTAGES
 More effective in the reduction of emission gases and noise
 Vinegar and charcoal are renewable sources of energy, so it is easy to use.
 Maintenance is easy
 It is smokeless and pollution free emission occurs
 Performance is higher than the conventional silencer
 In mass production it has less cost
 Non exhaustible energy source is used
 Eco friendly process
 It is easy to construct and has good appearance.
APPLICATIONS
 Aqua silencer can be used in all the automobile field such as:
 Two-stroke engine,
 Six-stroke engine,
 All automobiles using SI and CI engines,
 All types of generators.

SYNOPSIS
An attempt has been made in this project to use alternative fuel in two
stroke Gasoline engine. Our fore most aim in selecting this project is to use non
conventional fuel against conventional fuel which is becoming scarce and costly
now days. With this air is less polluted than conventional fuels. It is also good
with regard to economical considerations.
In our project we have installed LPG fuel system to two stroke vehicle
where in we can use both gasoline and LPG. The alternations made to install
LPG in the vehicle are discussed. LPG from storage tank comes to the adjustable
regulator through a primary delivery valve fitted at the mouth of the LPG
cylinder.

WORKING PRINCIPLE
LPG is made from a mixture of propane, butane, propylene, butylene and
other ingredients all of which makes it denser than air, which makes it sink to the
ground in the event of leak. THE system includes a storage tank (can be
cylinder), , mechanical shut-off valve, an evaporator, and an LPG air mixing unit
and standard carburetor. An connector is also present in the petrol line, which
shuts during LPG operations and opens while running on petrol. ( but in our
bike/project we shut on/off supply of fuel i.e. petrol and LPG manually).
ADVANTAGES
 Multi fuels motor cycles are less-emission motor cycles.
 Reduce global-warming pollutants and leads to clean earth.
 Noiseless
 Better performance than ordinary multi fuel motor cycle.
 Simple in construction.
 Fuel efficiency is greatly increased.
