Materials

The Dragon Fruit will be bought on the supermarket. The dragon fruit will be eaten by

the researcher and the peel will be reserved for the study.

The researcher will be using graduated cylinder; for measuring the amount of water, a container

that the dragon fruit peel will insert to the container, a lead-source from car exhaust and two

pencil, knife for cutting the peels, six bottles of distilled water to wash the dragon fruit and six

bottles of distilled water will be used for the study, and last is the mask and gloves for the

protection of the researcher.

Procedure

The researcher will bring the water treatments with lead on the laboratory for water

analysis and lead count before the experiment. And the researcher will be using bottled water for

the container. The researcher will pour 100 ml of water with 10 grams of dragon fruit peel each

treatment. Two trials will be using 10 grams of lead from car exhaust and the another two trials

for pencil. And the researcher will soak he treatments for one day. And after that, the researcher

will remove the peel and the water will bring again to the laboratory for water analysis and lead

count. The results before and after the treatment will be compared after gathering the data.

Disposal of Materials

After the researcher used all the materials, the dragon fruit peel will buried on the soil for

the natural decomposition process. The graduated cylinder, container and cap is washed properly

and the graduated cylinder will be returned to the laboratory. The table used to conduct the study
is washed thoroughly with soap and water. After the test, the lead contaminated water sample

will poured in canals or drainage. The gloves, pencil and mask will disposed and throw properly

through the trash can.

Risk and Safety Precautions

In buying the dragon fruits in the supermarket, the researcher will ask assistance from his

parents and sister to guide and protect me to buying the dragon fruit.

In handling and getting the lead, the researcher use gloves and masks for the protection of

the researcher. And the researcher must use small zip lock to insert the lead.

The researcher is guided and assisted by his parents on using the knife to avoid wounds on

the researcher.

Collection of Data

The study is all about the dragon fruit peel as a component in removing or reducing lead

in lead contaminated water. The water used in the water sample is six distilled water. And the

lead used is the car’s exhaust and the pencils. The effect of the main component, 10 grams of

dragon fruit peel will be mixed with 100 ml of water with 10 grams of lead from cars exhaust

and pencil for corresponding treatments and leave it for one day. Then compare the appearance

of the treatment to the water sample. The treatment will be brought to the laboratory for water

testing and lead count. It would take ample time to see the effect of the study. The results will be

compared after the gathering of the data.

Statistical Tool

Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) will be used to compare the differences among the

treatments. Data will be declared significant by the ANOVA will be further analyzed by t-test

using Analysis Tool VBA in Microsoft Excel in order to find out where real differences lie

among the treatments.
