General Description

Overview
High carbon steels are used in automotive parts, saw blades, knitting needles, machine chains a
nd farming tools, etc.(> 3000 kinds) High carbon steels can be classified into hot rolled high ca
rbon strips, pickled and annealed high carbon strips and cold rolled high carbon strips by pro
duction process.

Characteristics of high carbon steels

High carbon steels are mainly used in machine parts to need high strength and high hardness, a
nd post heat treatment such as quenching and tempering heat treatment is performed for high st
rength and hardness.

※SK85 cold rolled steel with fine carbides

SK85 steel with fine spheroidized carbides has been developed. The figures below show u
niform dispersion of very fine carbides after cold rolling and annealing of a developed steel. Th
ese fine carbides are useful to shorten austenitizing and quenching process and to improve final
product quality.

* Average carbide size of developed steel is ½~1/5 of that of conventional size
