2020 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Two awards ($1,500 each) are available for high school students accepted to an accredited college,
university, or vocational-technical school for the Fall 2020 semester. Scholarship awards are based on
meeting the requirements listed below.

Application Deadline: May 8, 2020

Applicants Notified: May 18, 2020
Awards Presented: June 15, 2020 Bloomingdale Civic Association Meeting

Eligibility Requirements:
 Reside within the District-recognized boundaries of Bloomingdale (see map) and/or be a student of
McKinley Technology High School or Dunbar High School
 Minimum 2.5 GPA (unweighted) for most recently completed academic year
 Graduating high school seniors must be accepted to an accredited college, university, or vocational-
technical school for the Fall 2020 semester

Application Package Requirements:

 Completed Application Cover Sheet
 Official high school transcript
 Two letters of recommendation from either a teacher, counselor, or community service organization.
One letter of recommendation must be written by a teacher or counselor.
 Write a short response (no more than 500 words) for each of the following:
1. Describe your current community service commitment(s).
2. Why do you deserve this scholarship?
3. Describe your vision for college and long-term personal goals.

*Scholarships are awarded based on a variety of factors including academic achievement,

extracurricular and community activities, and financial need. Applicants are encouraged to address
these criteria in their application.
