– Remove underbody cover and drill holes, ∅ 7 mm.
– Carry out corrosion protection measures.
– Rivet on the riveted nuts N 103 102 04 for screw M 5 (Pos. 3).
– Position the underbody cover (Pos. 5) onto the original tucker
bolts, secure with nuts (Pos. 6) and install the screws (Pos. 4)
in the new holes with riveted nuts (Pos. 3).
– Insert rear underbody cover, secure with nut (Pos. 6) and
screw (Pos. 2).

– Use a screwdriver to raise the locking element and pull the gas
strut off the ball stud.
Note
If the strut is to be re-used, do not remove the release pin fully

from the ball socket, otherwise it will be damaged.
Installing
10 Rep. gr.55 - Bonnet, rear lid

1.4 Degassing the pressurized gas strut

– Clamp the pressurized gas strut into the vice on the section
-a = 50 mm-.
WARNING
The pressurized gas strut must only be clamped in this area,

otherwise there is a risk of accident!
– Saw open the strut cylinder in the first third of the total length
of the cylinder, starting from the piston side edge.
Note
♦ Wear safety goggles during the sawing procedure.

♦ Cover the sawn section with a cloth.
♦ Oil and cloth are disposed of in accordance with waste dis‐
posal requirements.
♦ After degassing, the pressurized gas spring can be treated as
scrap.

Removing
– Remove screw - 2 Nm - (pos. 3).
– Loosen plastic clips.
– Push the strip out of the dowel pins.
Installing
– Push the strip into the openings for the dowel pins and clips.
– Press in the strip until the clips lock into place.

Remove tailgate completely

test!
♦ In case of leakage, push the control motors 1 mm downwards
and repeat the water resistance test.
♦ Replace seals if necessary and position the control motors
again in their original position.

2.3 Unlock the tailgate

Mechanically unlock the tailgate.

If the flap lock or the control motors cannot be unlocked with
⇒ Vehicle diagnostic tester, they can be unlocked mechanically.
Unlock the tailgate lock
– Fold the rear seat forwards.
– Unlock the flap lock ⇒ Item 21 (page 20) from the luggage
compartment (e.g. with ignition key, screwdriver) through the
opening in the tailgate trim panel ⇒ Owner's manual .
Unlock the tailgate control motors
– Lever out the cap (Pos. 1) on the side of the tailgate control
motor trim panel.
– Remove carrier bolt (Pos. 2).
– Drive out the catch below the bushing using an extractor.
– Unlocking the other control motor is identical.
– Open tailgate.
2.4 Removing and installing pressurized

gas strut of tailgate
Removing
– Open tailgate, support and lock it into position.
– Use a screwdriver to raise the locking element - 2 - and pull
the pressurized gas strut - 1 - off the ball stud - 3 -.
WARNING
Always move the release pin into the first stage. Never fully
lever it out of the ball socket. There is risk of injury to the me‐
chanic and risk of damage to the release pin!

2.5 Degassing the pressurized gas strut

– Clamp the pressurized gas strut into the vice on the section
-a = 50 mm-.
WARNING
The pressurized gas strut must only be clamped in this area,

otherwise there is a risk of accident!
– Saw open the strut cylinder in the first third of the total length
of the cylinder, starting from the piston side edge.
Note
♦ Wear safety goggles during the sawing procedure.

♦ Cover the sawn section with a cloth.
♦ Oil and cloth are disposed of in accordance with waste dis‐
posal requirements.
♦ After degassing, the pressurized gas spring can be treated as
scrap.
2.6 Removing and installing the spindle

Removing
– Open tailgate, support and lock it into position.
– Disconnect the plug for the spindle drive under the D-panel
⇒ “3.11 Removing and installing trim panel of pillar D (Superb
ll Combi)”, page 183 and pull the cable guide - 3 - through the
sleeve.
– Use a screwdriver to raise the locking element -4- and pull the
spindle drive -1- off the ball stud -2-.
WARNING
Always move the release pin into the first stage. Never fully
lever it out of the ball socket. There is risk of injury to the me‐
chanic and risk of damage to the release pin!
– Ball stud (27 Nm) -2-.

Installing

Removing

section in order to avoid damage to paintwork.
– Pull the rubber part of the unit over the fuel filler neck.
– Pull the drain hose -4- out of the unit.
– If the locking unit -1- should be removed, the plug connection
in the luggage compartment must be separated. It is only nec‐
essary to slacken the side trim panel in the luggage compart‐
ment (it does not have to be removed)

1 Front door
WARNING
Only applies for vehicles with side airbags!

The airbag system operates with pressure sensors for side im‐
pact, which are located in the front doors. For perfect operation
of the airbag system, no changes (e.g. a disassembly or an
additional assembly of the loudspeakers) must be carried out
on the front doors.
Before completing the front doors if possible do not drive the
vehicle.
Non-approved changes on the front doors or incomplete front
doors can impair the function of the airbag system.

1.3 Door adjustment

To correctly adjust the door release the door hinges on the pillars
and door. Other adjusting measures, e.g. aligning the doors to‐
wards the top are ineffective. The door will drop again at the
following overpressures.
– Release screws until the door can be shifted.
• The doors are correctly adjusted if they are at an overall equal
distance from the door frame all round in the closed condition.

Do not use excessive force when screwing the screw into the
straddling dowel as it may fall into the door.
– Withdraw the straddling dowel from the window lifter guide and
hence from the door window.
– Secure the door window before pulling out the straddling dow‐
els so that they do not fall into the door and get damaged.

1.10 Glue outer door seal

Installing
– Remove old glue residues.
Note
The glueing procedure is performed at an ambient temperature

of above 15 °C.
– Clean the adhesive surface with glue remover e.g. D 002 000
10.
– The adhesive surfaces must be free from dust and grease, for
this purpose use cleaning solution e.g. D 009 401 04.
– The sealing joint of the outside door seal must be located in
the center at the bottom side rail -arrow-.
– Remove the protective foil and glue the seal step by step onto
the provided point.
– Do not tighten the seal so that the end of the seal does not
lengthen too much.
– Correctly press the complete adhesive surface for the seal
(Pos. 3) over the entire circumference with e.g. pinch roller
-3356- onto the door (Pos. 1).
– Press the seal so far to the side -arrow- until the pinch roller
-3356- rests directly against the adhesive surface for the seal
(Pos. 2)
– Adapt if necessary the length of the seal and press on the ends
with the pinch roller.

– Subsequently lock the radio container with the key.

1.3 Door adjustment

To correctly adjust the door release the door hinges on the pillars
and door. Other adjusting measures, e.g. aligning the doors to‐
wards the top are ineffective. The door will drop again at the
following overpressures.
– Release screws until the door can be shifted.
• The doors are correctly adjusted if they are at an overall equal
distance from the door frame all round in the closed condition.

– Screw an M8 (about 80 mm long) into straddle pin -3-.
Note
Do not use excessive force when screwing the screw into the
straddling dowel as it may fall into the door.
– Withdraw the straddling dowel from the window lifter guide and
hence from the door window.
– Secure the door window before pulling out the straddling dow‐
els so that they do not fall into the door and get damaged.
– Lower the door window downwards.

1.9 Glue outer door seal

Installing
– Remove old glue residues.
Note
The glueing procedure is performed at an ambient temperature

of above 15 °C.
– Clean the adhesive surface with glue remover e.g. D 002 000

– The adhesive surfaces must be free from dust and grease, for
this purpose use cleaning solution e.g. D 009 401 04.
– The sealing joint of the outside door seal must be located in
the center at the bottom side rail -arrow-.
– Remove the protective foil and glue the seal step by step onto
the provided point.
– Do not tighten the seal so that the end of the seal does not
lengthen too much.
– Correctly press the complete adhesive surface for the seal
(Pos. 3) over the entire circumference with pinch roller e.g
-3356- onto the door (Pos. 1).
– Press the seal so far to the side -arrow- until the pinch roller
-3356- rests directly against the adhesive surface for the seal
(Pos. 2)
– Adapt if necessary the length of the seal and press on the ends
with the pinch roller.
Note
Leave the door open for 2 hours after glueing the outer seal in
order to avoid the displacement of the seal.

For cleaning use a 2300 mm long speedometer Bowden wire as

a tool.
Rear water drain hoses
– The water drain hoses (Pos. 1) run in the C pillar and terminate
in the upper area of the rear wheel arches.
– The cleaning is performed by removing dirt from the drain
valve (Pos. 2) and by cleaning the water drain hose with a
Bowden cable.
– The hose must not be removed as it is sufficient to pull it out
slightly and only to remove the water drain valve.
Note

3 Sliding/tilting roof with glass panel

(Superb II Combi)
3.1 Description of the function

All motion functions of the sliding/tilting roof can be performed
when the ignition is switched on .
After switching off the ignition the motion functions can still be
performed until the driver or front passenger door is opened.
The opening of the front glass panel is preselected with the rotary
switch -1-.
The opening of the glass panel, while in the so-called comfort
position -4-, prevents airstream noises to the greatest extent
which can occur when the glass panel is fully opened.
The glass panel can be tilted and closed using the rotary switch.
The switches for opening the sun blind -2- and for closing the sun
blind -3- are integrated in the rotary switch.
The sliding/tilting roof is equipped with a closing force limiting
system. If it encounters an obstacle when closing from tilting or
sliding position, the glass panel opens again automatically.
There is an emergency lock function available. In case of prob‐
lems while closing, the sliding roof can be forced closed
⇒ “3.18 Emergency operation”, page 80 .
Note
The closing force limiting system is switched off during the emer‐
gency closing function.
The sliding roof motor is fitted with an overheat protection. After

a cool-down period, the sliding roof motor can be operated again.
During power failure, the front glass panel and the sun blind can

Note
An adequate number of mechanics is required for the removal

and installation of the frame.

– Remove both glass panels

– Pull off the water drain hoses from the supports -arrows- of the

– Disconnect the plug connection at the sliding roof motor -5-.

Installing

ters, in alphabetical order.

of the mechanism can be unhooked.

1.4 Cutting out the openings for the parking

for drilling four openings using a suitable tool.

– Use the cutting tool BEA 000 001 to cut out the opening (di‐
ameter 18 mm).
– Use a step drill in order to drill the openings.
– First of all make the openings from the outer side of the bumper
when using a step drill. Complete the work step from the inner
side of the bumper.
– Trim the openings in a suitable manner in order to avoid dam‐
age to the paintwork.

mm thickness.

Work sequence for a new screw

– Clean the window in the adhesive area all around with cleaning
solution -D 009 401 04- .
– Apply glass/paint primer -D 009 200 02- .
Note
The ceramic layer on the windows is not a primer! It is absolutely

essential to prime with -D 009 200 02- before applying the sealing
material.

Apply glass/paint primer

– Apply glass/paint primer (Pos. 2) using the applicator (Pos. 1)
with completely soaked felt uniformly in one go.
– Let the glass/paint primer dry off for approx. 10 min.
• Width of glass/paint primer -a- approx. 20 mm.
• Glass/paint primer must be applied on the point where the glue
bead is applied.
1.12 Gluing
– After completing the preparations cut the nozzle for applying
the glue into shape as shown in the figure.
– Dimension -a- 12 mm.
– Width of glue bead - 8 mm.

Note
♦ The glue bead cross section is dependent on the cross sec‐

tional area of the nozzle and the application speed.
♦ When using 1C window glass adhesive -DH 009 100- or -DH
009 100 A2- , preheat the glue cartridges for 20 minutes in the
warming box, e.g. -V.A.G 1939- .
♦ Use disposable gloves when working with glues and adhesive
materials.
WARNING
Comply with the manufacturer's handling instructions.

– Apply the adhesive cement to the sealing section -1- perpen‐

dicularly to the window surface and all around it.
Note
♦ Apply adhesive sealant at a temperature of 10 °C to 30°C.

♦ Open all vehicle windows before fitting the window into the
frame.
– Insert window pane into the frame with the aid of two suction
cup tools e.g. -V.A.G 1344- , centre and press onto the spacer
catches.
WARNING
Fit the window pane immediately as otherwise the adhesive

properties of the glue sealing material decrease considerably.
– Insert window pane in frame using pane positioning wedges

or eccentric pieces (applies for the windscreen).
– Fix the window during hardening process with adhesive tape.
– Any adhesive cement which was applied too thickly and is
pressed out up to the heating filaments of the heatable rear
window must be removed.
1.13 Minimum hardening time for glued win‐

dows
WARNING
Comply with special requirements when replacing glued win‐

dows. Among these are for example, that a newly glued wind‐
screen must fulfil the operational safety in the event of an
accident after a prescribed minimumProtected
hardening time.
The minimum hardening time is specified by the manufacturer on

the packaging insert.
With the minimum hardening time is meant the time from the mo‐
ment the window is glued until the vehicle is used. During this
time, the vehicle must stand on a flat surface at room temperature
(at least 15 °C).
WARNING
The vehicle is only safe for driving after the minimum hardening
time has expired.
1.14 Eliminating paint damage

– The paint structure must be restored in accordance with the
instructions in the “Paint Repairs” handbook and if necessary
anti-corrosion measures must be carried out according to the
applicable repair technology of Škoda.

1.15 Remove adhesive sealant and clean

– It is recommended to use glue remover -D 002 000 A2- as
cleaning agent. Observe safety regulations while working.
WARNING
Do not press against the freshly glued window when cleaning

the vehicle interior.
– Clean the paint surfaces with a dry cloth. Remove the glue
residue with glue remover -D 002 000 A2- .
– Clean plastic panels: leave glue sealing material to harden
(approx. 1 hour) and then pull off.
1.16 Window repairs

solution D 009 401 04.
– Apply glue sealing material D 172 090 A2 into the guiding
groove in the spoiler.
– Stick on the spoiler within 15 minutes after applying the glue

– Partially unglue the protective foil from the adhesive tape on
the edges.
– Fit the spoiler evenly onto the tailgate - dimension -a- = 4.2 ±

– Remove the protective foil from the adhesive tape.
– Secure spoiler against moving with adhesive tape.
Note
♦ The adhesive cement must dry for 2 hours. Do not drive the
vehicle in this time.
♦ Do not drive into the carwash within 24 hours of gluing on the
spoiler.

– Insert the emblem - 1 - on the provided point with three clamps

– Pull off the remainder of the protective foil and forcefully press
on the emblem.

1.1 Removing and installing the interior

rear-view mirror
Removing
– Turn the interior rear-view mirror -2- in -direction of arrow A-
and dislodge from the retaining plate -1- (locking spring in
mirror base plate).
Installing
– Insert the interior rear-view mirror by approx. 90° turn to the
right into the retaining plate -1-.
– Turn the interior rear-view mirror -2- in -direction of arrow B-,
until the locking spring locks.
1.2 Repairing with glue

♦ Glass metal adhesive kit - D 000 703 A1-
♦ Glass scraper e.g. -SC - 170- .
– On the outside of the windscreen, mark the position of the re‐
taining plate, using a felt-tip pen for example.
– Remove retaining plate from mirror pedestal.
– Remove old glue with wire brush from the retaining plate.
– Place 360...400 grade sandpaper on a flat surface and sand
the three separating knobs on the bonding surface.
– Sanded surfaces must be clean and free from grease.
– Using the glass scraper, scrape the old glue and glass/paint
primer residues down to the ceramic layer on the windscreen.
– Clean the bonding surface with cleaning solution -D 009 401
04- .
WARNING
Do not damage the ceramic layer, as scratches will be perma‐

nently visible.
– Cut a piece of nylon net fabric to the exact size of the mirror
pedestal.
Note
A protective glove (rubber) must be worn.
– Apply a generous layer of adhesive evenly on the retaining

plate.

– Fit a piece of nylon net fabric onto the retaining plate.

– Continue applying adhesive by dabbing with the tube on the
nylon net fabric.
Once the nylon net fabric is placed on the adhesive, you only have
30 seconds to press it onto the windscreen.
– Press the retaining plate steadily onto the windscreen for 15
seconds (do not force).
– Remove excess adhesive with a cloth.
Note
Install the interior rear-view mirror after 15 minutes.

– Press apart pedestal halves -1- and -3- and take off.
– Pull pedestal -5- with mirror -2- downwards and away from

– Any remaining adhesive and glass/paint primer residue must
be removed down to the ceramic layer.

1 Seat belts
1.1 Safety instructions for work on seat belt

tensioners
♦ All inspection, removal and installation and repair work must
only be carried out by properly qualified personnel.
♦ Belt tensioner units must not be opened or repaired. Only use
original new parts (risk of injury).
♦ Seat belt tensioner units that have been subject to serious im‐
pacts or which have been dropped onto the ground must not
be fitted in vehicles.
♦ Seat belt tensioner units which are mechanically damaged
(dents, cracks) should always be replaced with original new
parts.
♦ Storage and transport must comply with the legislation on ex‐
plosive and hazardous materials.
♦ The non-ignited belt tensioners which have been taken out of
commission must be sent to a specialist company or to the
importer for disposal in compliance with the instructions of
PST and environmental protection regulations.
♦ The prescribed packaging should be used for storage and
transport.
♦ The belt tightener units should be installed immediately after
being removed from their transport packaging.
♦ Do not use electric or impact screw drivers to remove or install
the seat belt tensioners.
♦ Place the seat belt tensioner unit back in the transport pack‐
aging if the work is interrupted.

2 Inspect seat belts
WARNING
The seat belt system must be inspected systematically after

every accident! If one of the inspection points reveals any
damage inform the customer that the seat belts must be re‐
placed.
Test sequence
♦ Check seat belt.
♦ Check automatic belt retractor - locking effect.
♦ Seat belt buckle - visual inspection.
♦ Seat belt buckle - functional check.
♦ Check deflection fittings and buckle latches.
♦ Check fixing parts and fixing points.
♦ Check automatic belt retractors.
Note
Make a special note should the customer refuse to have a dam‐

aged seat belt replaced.
2.1 Checks
Checking the seat belt
– Completely unreel the seat belt from the automatic belt retrac‐
tor or from the lap belt adjusting strip.
– Check seat belt for:
• Soiling, if necessary wash with a mild detergent.
• Torn fraying on the edge of the belt.
• Cuts, tears or chafing spots.
• Cigarette burn stains etc.
In the event of damage - replace seat belt together with buckle
with a new original part.
Check automatic belt retractor - locking effect.
The automatic belt retractor has two locking functions.
♦ The first locking function is activated when the belt is drawn
rapidly out of the automatic belt retractor (belt withdrawal ac‐
celeration).
Checking
– Draw the seat belt out of the automatic belt retractor with a
sudden sharp pull.
• No locking effect - replace seat belt together with buckle with
a new original part.
• If problems arise, first check whetherProtected

• The second locking function is activated by a change in the

vehicle's motion (vehicle-dependent locking function).
Checking
– Put on seat belt.
– Accelerate to 20 km/h and perform a full brake with the brake
pedal.
• Replace the seat belt and buckle with a new original part if the
locking device does not lock the belt during braking.
WARNING
For safety reasons, carry out this test on a section of road with
no traffic so as not to endanger other road users.
Seat belt buckle - visual inspection

– Check belt buckle for fractures and flaking.
• In the event of damage - replace seat belt together with buckle
Seat belt buckle - functional check
Checking seat belt buckle:
– Insert buckle latch in the belt buckle until there is an audible
click. Check whether the locking mechanism engages, by tug‐
ging forcefully on the seat belt.
• If the buckle latch fails to lock into the buckle even once out of
at least five tests, replace the seat belt and buckle with a new
orginal part.
Check buckle release:
– Release seat belt by pressing the seat belt buckle button.
– If the belt is loose, the latch must eject independently from the
belt buckle.
• Test at least 5 times. If the buckle latch fails to eject even once,
replace the seat belt and buckle with a new original part.
WARNING
Never use lubricants to eliminate noises or to smoothen the

operation of the buttons on seat buckles.
Checking deflection fittings and buckle latches

When the belt system is burdened (seat belt attached in an acci‐
dent) plastic-coated fittings will display fine parallel score marks.

sons. This procedure is part of the test in the targeted fault
finding.
♦ The mechanic should electrically discharge himself before
picking up (touching) the airbag unit. This is done by touching
an earthed metal part, such as e.g. a water pipe, heating pipe
or a metal bracket.
♦ The airbag units should be installed immediately after being
removed from their transport packaging.
♦ Place the airbag unit back in the transport packaging if the
work is interrupted.
♦ It is not permitted to leave the airbag unit unattended.
♦ Airbag units in an unmounted condition are to be deposited
away above with the impact absorber.
♦ The airbag units must not be treated with grease, cleaning
agents or similar products, and must not be exposed to tem‐
peratures above 100 °C, not even for short periods.
♦ Airbag units that have been dropped on a hard surface or
which are otherwise damaged, must not be fitted.
♦ Defective airbag units of the airbag system which have not
been ignited must be returned for disposal to a specialist com‐

pany or to the importer in accordance with the instructions of

PST and environmental protection regulations. The prescribed
transport packaging must be used.
♦ Activated belt tensioner units can be disposed of as industrial
waste.
♦ Ignite the airbag units before scrapping the vehicle
⇒ “4 Disposal of pyrotechnical parts before scrapping the ve‐
hicle”, page 163 .
♦ Storage and transport must comply with the legislation on ex‐
plosive and hazardous materials.
♦ Only use original seat upholstery approved for the side airbag.
♦ The use of commercially available protective seat covers is
prohibited as this impairs operation of the side airbags.
♦ All the upholstery retaining clips must be replaced with new
original parts.
♦ In the event of damage to the upholstery - tears, burn holes
etc. - in the area of the side airbag always replace the uphols‐
tery with a new original part for safety reasons.
♦ The label “Airbag”, fitted laterally onto the dash panel, has to
be replaced with a new original part in the event of damage or
in case of a replacement.
3.3 Replacing parts of the airbag system

Accident with deployment of airbag
The following parts must, in principle, be replaced by new original
parts only:
♦ Central control unit for airbag system, VW 10 1).
♦ Airbag unit on the driver's side 2).
♦ Airbag unit on the front passenger's side 2).
♦ Side airbag unit on the driver's side 2).
♦ Side airbag unit on the front passenger's side 2).
♦ Seat covering 3).
♦ Head airbag driver's side 2).
♦ Head airbag front passenger's side2).
♦ Top trim panel of A pillar 4).

Replace all damaged parts if necessary (visual inspection) with
new original parts.
After the control unit and other damaged parts have been re‐
placed the control unit must be encoded again.
Accident without deployment of airbag
♦ If the airbag control indicator (K 75) is displaying no errors and
no airbag system parts are damaged, it is not necessary to
replace airbag components. Seat belts in particular must be
examined.
Registering parts of the airbag system.
If any part of the airbag system is replaced with new, original
parts, the self-adhesive labels with the number must be removed
and stuck onto the registration card, part number 000 010 100 A,
and sent for registration to the customer service network (national
sales) or the importer (other countries):

4 Disposal of pyrotechnical parts be‐

fore scrapping the vehicle
Before scrapping the vehicle, the airbag units and the belt tight‐
eners must be disposed of safely according to accident preven‐
tion regulations to protect against undesirable explosion (unin‐
tentional ignition). It is essential to observe this condition since
incorrect or unintentional ignition (e.g. scrapping using a flame
cutter) can lead to injury.

5 Deactivating and activating airbag

units (adaptation)
The control unit for the airbag allows locking (deactivation) of all
airbag units and the electronically actuated belt tighteners.
WARNING
♦ At present the activation is only carried out on front pas‐

senger front airbag unit.
♦ Locking of the other airbag units and the belt tightener
must only be undertaken in exceptional circumstances
and then only by written permission of the PST department
(Czech Republic) or the importer.
5.1 Deactivating and activating passenger-

side airbag units (adaptation)
It is then necessary to deactivate the front passenger airbag unit
if it is intended to use a child seat on the front passenger seat in
which the child faces with its back to the direction of travel.
In certain countries, national legislation also requires deactivation
of the side and head airbags.
As soon as the child seat is no longer required, the front passen‐

Deactivate front airbag with the key switch

For vehicles which are fitted with the key switch for front passen‐
ger airbag, the deactivation and activation of the front passenger
airbag is performed by means of the key switch in the glove com‐
partment of the dash panel. The driver can only operate the key
switch with the ignition key when the ignition is switched off.
Switching off the front passenger airbag is indicated by means of
a warning light in the middle of the dash panel.
Switching off of airbag using the key switch does not have to be
registered or entered into the service schedule. The specified ad‐
hesive label must not be affixed.
Deactivate front airbag without the key switch
Blocking the side and head airbag is undertaken using the diag‐
nostic unit ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic tester Targeted functions, airbag,
activation and deactivation of airbag units.
When blocking the airbag units it is necessary to pull out the ap‐
propriate plugs from the airbag unit.
After the passenger-side airbag unit has been deactivated, the
warning light -K75- comes on at first for 4 seconds after the igni‐
tion is switched on and then flashes for about 12 seconds. This
indicates that an ignition circuit is deactivated.

If the airbag units are deactivated, faults relating to airbag deac‐

tivation on the front passenger side are stored in the fault memory
and, after the airbag units are subsequently re-activated, the
faults in the fault memory are erased.
It is necessary to complete the “registration card for airbag sys‐
tems/belt tensioner” each time the airbag units on the front pas‐
senger side are deactivated (switched off) and each time they are
re-activated. The original document remains in the Service De‐
partment, the 1st copy is sent to the ŠKODA Service Department
(Czech Republic) or to the Importer for registration (other coun‐
tries), while the 2nd copy is handed over to the customer (inserted
into Service Book).
The blocking and activation of the airbag units on the front pas‐
senger's side must be recorded in the Service Schedule.
The specified sticker S00.5800.39.xx (xx - language number)
must be affixed during the entire period that the passenger-side
airbag units are deactivated. Make holes on the sticker e.g. using
punch pliers and through this mark the deactivated airbag unit.
Affix the sticker on the dash panel in the front passenger area
above the “AIRBAG” logo. This sticker is intended to draw the
attention of the occupants to the fact that the passenger-side air‐
bag units have been deactivated.

ode and door warning lamp (depending upon vehicle equip‐
ment).
– Disconnect the control cable for the inner door handle actua‐
tor.
– Remove door trim panel (Pos. 3) from vehicle.

2.3 Removing and installing the heating el‐

ement (heater cup) of the seat
Removing
– Separate seat cover and seat upholstery

– Disconnect the electric cable -3- directly at the old heating el‐
ement -2-.
Note
The old heating elements stay on the seat upholstery -1- and are
glued over with the new heating elements.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing,
observe the following:
– Pull the electric cable -3- through the cable guide.
– Align the new heating elements on the seat upholstery, but do
not pull off the protective foils.
– Pull the protective foils off the heating elements one after the
other, ensuring you do not damage the heating elements.
– Glue the heating elements to the old heating elements, so that
they are aligned and there are no kinks.
– Lay the connection to the individual heating elements in the
gaps in the base.
