– Open tailgate, support and lock it into position.
– Disconnect the plug for the spindle drive under the D-panel

sleeve.
– Use a screwdriver to raise the locking element -4- and pull the

– The sealing joint of the outside door seal must be located in

– Remove the protective foil and glue the seal step by step onto
the provided point.
– Do not tighten the seal so that the end of the seal does not
lengthen too much.
– Correctly press the complete adhesive surface for the seal
(Pos. 3) over the entire circumference with e.g. pinch roller
-3356- onto the door (Pos. 1).
– Press the seal so far to the side -arrow- until the pinch roller
-3356- rests directly against the adhesive surface for the seal

– Adapt if necessary the length of the seal and press on the ends

dling dowel -4- can be reached in the door opening.
– Screw an M5 screw (approximately 70 mm long) into the strad‐
dling dowel -4- and remove it from the straddle pin -3-.
– Screw an M8 (about 80 mm long) into straddle pin -3-.

– Press the operating switch to close the sun blind -3- and hold
it in this position (approx. 20 sec.) during the entire standard
run procedure.
– During the standard run procedure, first the sun blind closes
and then moves approx. 200 mm backwards.
– After the sun blind has been closed again, the standard run
procedure ends and the operating switch must be released.
Note
The front glass panel must only be moved manually so far until
its front edge is flush with the front edge of the rear glass panel.
If the glass panel is moved further to the back, the control cables
of the mechanism can be unhooked.

Checking the seat belt
– Completely unreel the seat belt from the automatic belt retrac‐
tor or from the lap belt adjusting strip.
– Check seat belt for:
• Soiling, if necessary wash with a mild detergent.
• Torn fraying on the edge of the belt.
• Cuts, tears or chafing spots.
• Cigarette burn stains etc.
In the event of damage - replace seat belt together with buckle
with a new original part.
Check automatic belt retractor - locking effect.
The automatic belt retractor has two locking functions.
♦ The first locking function is activated when the belt is drawn
rapidly out of the automatic belt retractor (belt withdrawal ac‐
celeration).

– Draw the seat belt out of the automatic belt retractor with a
sudden sharp pull.

– Unclip recessed handle with control elements for power win‐
dows (depending upon vehicle equipment).

– Remove fixing screw for bottom door trim panel (Pos. 3) - 1.1
Nm.
– Carefully lever off the door trim panel from the clips using e.g.
the disassembly wedge - 3409- .
– Disconnect plug for interior door handle light and door warning
lamp (depending upon vehicle equipment).
– Disconnect the control cable for the inner door handle actua‐
tor.
– Remove door trim panel (Pos. 1) from vehicle.

Removing
– Cut through the upholstery retaining clips ⇒ Item 2 (page 220) and pull off cover from foam padding

Installing
Note
Note
The old heating elements stay on the seat upholstery -1- and are
glued over with the new heating elements.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing,
observe the following:
– Pull the electric cable -3- through the cable guide.
– Align the new heating elements on the seat upholstery, but do
not pull off the protective foils.
– Pull the protective foils off the heating elements one after the
other, ensuring you do not damage the heating elements.
– Glue the heating elements to the old heating elements, so that
they are aligned and there are no kinks.
– Lay the connection to the individual heating elements in the
gaps in the base.

but do not pull off the protective foils.
– Pull the protective foils off the heating elements one after the
other, ensuring you do not damage the heating elements.
– Glue the heating elements to the old heating elements, so that
they are aligned and there are no kinks.
– Lay the connection to the individual heating elements in the
gaps in the base.
