Human Emotions

 Anger
 It will change the facial expressions of the user which could affect a facial
recognition feature. It could also affect user’s reactions, like the rhythm of typing,
thus the interaction between a user and a device would be exponentially weakened.
 The system could become slower but more accurate in order to decrease the
chance of misspelling. The system could also have a lack of response towards this
emotion and mimic a response another human being would give, which is giving
time to calm down.

 Sadness
 It may change the facial expression which would trigger the facial recognition, or it
may require in a different case for the micro-expressions to be analysed. For
example, if a person smiles but they feel sad this would be seen around the eyes.
 An OS could change the colours of the screen/applications to brighter colours that
could improve a user's mood and could change the suggested applications to the
ones that in the past were logged as triggering happiness, going further to even
suggest softer music. This would change the suggestions alongside with the display,
not in a way for the person to feel invaded or pressured but more in a subtle way,
only slightly directing the user to a happier state.
 Joy
 This can be seen in the facial expression but mostly in the gestures and way of
handling the device. This means that the way a user types would become softer and
as well the use of emojis and other form of expressing their feelings would be
positive.
 In this case the system should just continue on the path the user is setting and
follow the same pattern as in other types of emotions, maintaining the suggestions
in accordance to the way the user feels or guiding them towards a happier state.
This action would imply storing the types of activities that makes the user feel in a
certain way for the accuracy of feedback.
 Fear
 The user could trigger the system to detect the emotion in the case of a chaotic
usage of the device and could analyse the micro-expressions through the facial
recognition feature.
 An OS can present a calmer graphic design/interface for the user. The system could
go further and could try showing the user though adds or other methods different
ways of calming themselves or even to look for help.
 Confusion
 The emotion could be detecting in situations that the user takes more time to
respond and is browsing through the current app/page they are in. For confirmation
the facial recognition should be generated in the background to examine the
expression of the person.
 The OS could have an option to simplify anything that may be explained in a
complicated way. This feature could be activated after the recognition of the
emotion and a few minutes, leaving time for user to solve the issue on their own not
pressuring them or worse offend them. It could also provide tips/advice for anything
that the user may need help for. All the help provided should be displayed as a
choice the user could do but it is not required.
 Envy
 This type of emotion cannot be detected in a traditional way by only analysing the
facial expression or the action on the spot. This would require time for the system to
log this emotion and categorise it because different people could have different
reactions when they feel envy.
 The reaction shouldn’t be in the same manner as the feeling but opposite and try to
guide the user to a positive state of mind for example displaying in photos memories
that were logged when the user felt positive feelings like joyfulness.
 Love
 It is a complex emotion that generated happiness, joyfulness and all the positive
emotions could be detected instead. The system could analyse if the person is
showing this emotion for specific photos or while exchanging messages with another
person. If this is the case and the case is not a singular one, the OS could categorise
it and attach it to the person in question.
 Because the reaction of the system was not only to save the emotion but the person
the emotion is related to, the response could be to mimic the user and generate a
brighter display, suggest to add the person to Favourite contacts, pop notifications
of reminders in case of missed calls/messages, imply the possibility of changing all
colours to ones that were logged positive. It should be able to sympathise with the
user.
Repeating annoying how many times.
