Discussion Ch 13

If I were responsible for a group of adolescents, then I would have dealt with the issue

in a way that none of the group member had to be excluded. For this purpose, I could have

used a method of randomly assigning the members to different groups till the time of

saturation reaches. For this purpose, other methods can also be employed.

Moreover, I do about lots of families who live in multigenerational settings. This

culture of living together with multigenerational families is especially common in South Asia

including Pakistan and India. So, I also have seen some of those families who live together in

a multigenerational family. Some of the challenges faced by people living in

multigenerational families includes their mismatched attitudes and perceptions towards

similar objects. People belonging to one generation do possess certain attitudes towards a

person, an object or an event. On the other hand, there is a difference of opinion with the

change of generation. This difference sometimes make situation bitter for almost all of those

family members who live together (Silverstein, 2019). However, if we think of the

advantages of living in multigenerational family then we can consider the value of experience

sharing of one generation. As one generation has certain experience to deal with the problems

so this problem-solving ability can help the younger generation (Rothenberg, Solis, Hussong,

& Chassin, 2017). So, this multigeneration family setting has certain pros and cons which are

manifested in the actual family settings.
