Prayer for Earth

 गउड़ी महला ५ माँझ ॥
Gauree, Fifth Mehla, Maajh:
दख
ु भंजनु तेरा नामु जी दख
ु भंजनु तेरा नामु ॥
The Destroyer of sorrow is Your Name, Lord;
the Destroyer of sorrow is Your Name.
आठ पहर आराधीऐ पूरन स#तगुर Gगआनु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Twenty-four hours a day, dwell upon the wisdom
of the Perfect True Guru. ||1||Pause||
िजतु घKट वसै पारOहमु सोई सह
ु ावा थाउ ॥
That heart, in which the Supreme Lord God
abides, is the most beautiful place.
जम कंकR नेSड़ न आवई रसना हTर गण
ु गाउ ॥१॥
The Messenger of Death does not even approach
those who chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord with the tongue. ||1||
सेवा सुर#त न जाणीआ ना जापै आराGध ॥
I have not understood the wisdom of serving Him,
nor have I worshipped Him in meditation.
ओट तेरW जगजीवना मेरे ठाकुर अगम अगाGध ॥२॥
You are my Support, O Life of the World; O my Lord and Master,
Inaccessible and Incomprehensible. ||2||
भए कृपाल गुसाईआ नठे सोग संताप ॥
When the Lord of the Universe became merciful,
sorrow and suffering departed.
तती वाउ न लगई स#तगTु र रखे आ[प ॥३॥
The hot winds do not even touch those
who are protected by the True Guru. ||3||
गुR नाराइणु दयु गुR गुR सचा *सरजणहाR ॥
The Guru is the All-pervading Lord, the Guru is the Merciful Master;
the Guru is the True Creator Lord.
गुTर तुठै सभ _कछु पाइआ जन नानक सद ब*लहार ॥४॥२॥१७०॥
When the Guru was totally satisfied, I obtained everything.
Servant Nanak is forever a sacrifice to Him. ||4||2||170||

Ang 218
 सलोक म: ३ ॥
Shalok, Third Mehla:
जगतु जलंदा रfख लै आपणी _करपा धाTर ॥
The world is going up in flames - shower
it with Your Mercy, and save it!
िजतु दआ
ु रै उबरै #ततै लैहु उबाTर ॥
Save it, and deliver it, by whatever method it takes.
स#तगुTर सख
ु ु वेखा*लआ सचा सबद ु बीचाTर ॥
The True Guru has shown the way to peace,
contemplating the True Word of the Shabad.
नानक अवR न सझ
ु ई हTर gबनु बखसणहाR ॥१॥
Nanak knows no other than the Lord,
the Forgiving Lord. ||1||

Ang 853
 gबलावलु महला ५ ॥
Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla:
ताती वाउ न लगई पारOहम सरणाई ॥
The hot wind does not even touch one who is under
the Protection of the Supreme Lord God.
चउGगरद हमारै राम कार दख ु ु लगै न भाई ॥१॥
On all four sides I am surrounded by the Lord's Circle of
Protection; pain does not afflict me,
O Siblings of Destiny. ||1||
स#तगR
ु परू ा भेKटआ िज#न बणत बणाई ॥I
have met the Perfect True Guru,
who has done this deed.
राम नामु अउखधु दWआ एका *लव लाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
He has given me the medicine of the Lord's Name, and
I enshrine love for the One Lord. ||1||Pause||
राfख लWए #त#न रखनहाTर सभ gबआGध *मटाई ॥
The Savior Lord has saved me,
and eradicated all my sickness.
कहु नानक _करपा भई -भ भए सहाई ॥२॥१५॥७९॥
Says Nanak, God has showered me with His Mercy; He
has become my help and support. ||2||15||79||

Ang 819
 धनासरW महला ५ ॥
Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehla:
अउखी घड़ी न दे खण दे ई अपना gबरद ु समाले ॥
He does not let His devotees see the difficult times;
this is His innate nature.
हाथ दे इ राखै अपने कउ सा*स सा*स -#तपाले ॥१॥
Giving His hand, He protects His devotee;
with each and every breath, He cherishes him. ||1||
-भ *सउ लाGग रKहओ मेरा चीतु ॥
My consciousness remains attached to God.
आKद अं#त -भु सदा सहाई धंनु हमारा मीतु ॥ रहाउ ॥
In the beginning, and in the end, God is always my
helper and companion; blessed is my friend. ||Pause||
म#न gबलास भए साKहब के अचरज दे fख बडाई ॥
My mind is delighted, gazing upon the marvellous,
glorious greatness of the Lord and Master.
हTर *समTर *समTर आनद कTर
नानक -*भ परू न पैज रखाई ॥२॥१५॥४६॥
Remembering, remembering the Lord in meditation,
Nanak is in ecstasy; God, in His perfection, has
protected and preserved his honor. ||2||15||46||

 सोरKठ महला ५ ॥
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
गुर का सबद ु रखवारे ॥
The Word of the Guru's Shabad is my Saving Grace.
चउकl चउGगरद हमारे ॥
It is a guardian posted on all four sides around me.
राम ना*म मनु लागा ॥
My mind is attached to the Lord's Name.
जमु लजाइ कTर भागा ॥१॥a
The Messenger of Death has run away in shame. ||1||
-भ जी तू मेरो सख
ु दाता ॥
O Dear Lord, You are my Giver of peace.
बंधन काKट करे मनु #नरमलु पूरन
परु खु gबधाता ॥ रहाउ ॥
The Perfect Lord, the Architect of Destiny, has shattered my
bonds, and made my mind immaculately pure. ||Pause||
नानक -भु अgबनासी ॥
O Nanak, God is eternal and imperishable.
ता कl सेव न gबरथी जासी ॥
Service to Him shall never go unrewarded.
अनद करKह तेरे दासा ॥
Your slaves are in bliss;
ज[प परू न होई आसा ॥२॥४॥६८॥
chanting and meditating, their desires are fulfilled. ||2||4||68||
