COLOUR THEORY 101

COLOUR MIXING & MATCHING CHALLENGE!

ACTIVITY:

• Using your primary colours, try and create colours that match the below samples as
closely as possible

OBJECTIVE:

This activity will test your colour mixing knowledge and what you have learnt so far about
creating different colours from your limited palette of three primaries.

PLEASE NOTE: everyone’s screen and / or printer will vary slightly, so just try to match the below
colours to the best of your ability, using the screen or print version available to you. Taubman’s
paint references and Hex codes are also provided. This is a discovery exercise, not a ‘whoever
gets the closest wins’ – so don’t stress if you cannot match these colours, and it does not matter
if your screen is slightly different to someone else’s, just enjoy the experience and learn from the
mistakes and pleasant surprises that will happen along the way!
