 YG110 hook block is a composite unit of a traveling block and a hook,
which is developed according to the actual operating requirements of
products. Besides satisfying the requirement of carrying capacity, it has
reasonable mechanical design, compact structure and small volume, which
can be operated conveniently. The traveling block is similar with current
products in China, while the hook is more perfect than current products.

II. Structure and Operating Principle

As it shows in the attached drawing, the traveling block is a movable
pulley block inside the headframe, which can move back and forth. It
consists of four pulleys and is connected with the crown pulley through wire
lines. The hook body consists of main hook and ring ears, the former is for
hanging hydrants and the latter is for hanging the swinging ring.
In order to reduce the impact while lifting and uninstalling, spring
buffer unit is set for the hook to reduce the impact while lifting and putting
down the drilling tools, so as to make the operation more stable.
YG110 hook block sets a twist lock of locking positioning device to
fasten the directions of lift sub and valve during the operation of running in
hole and putting out of hole, so that the derrick men can operate
conveniently. As it shows in the attached drawing, while the rotor turns left,
the lockpin inserted in it also turns left to make the trunnion of the pin slide
backward along the thread orbit on the cam body and pull out the lockpin
from the location hole of hook body, so that the hook can turn. While
turning right, the trunnion moves forward along the thread orbit and inserts
into the location hole of hook body, the lockpin turns off and the hook can’t
turn.
Application method:
1. Remove the load and make the hook body reset at the operation of
the buffer spring.
2. Turn on the twist lock of locking positioning device to make the
hook body turn freely.
3. Turn the hook and swinging ring to make the opening of the lift sub
valve towards the operation direction of the derrick men.
4. Turn off the twist lock.
The operations of running in hole and putting out of hole can be taken
after completing the steps above. While the hook bears the weight, the
journal is pulled open, due to the conditions of well bore or other
operational reasons during running in hole and putting out of hole, the lift
sub can have certain degree of turning with the drilling tool. When the hook
uninstalls, the hook body moves upward. Turn the direction of the hook
while hanging hydrants before drilling, and then turn off the twist lock.
III. Assembling
1. All the parts must be qualified products. Before assembling, each
spare part shall be cleaned, the burrs and rusty spots of machine working
parts shall be wiped off and the casting shall be polished and trimmed, the
inner chamber shall be painted with base coat.
2. Each slide unit and rotational part assembled can’t have the
phenomenon of blocking.
3. The connection between the main hook and the auxiliary hook must
be riveted firmly; looseness-proof measures must be taken after
assembling the traveling block with the hook or stud.
4. In the auxiliary hook, the lock box between the dead bolt and main
hook must be firm; the contact area between them can’t be less than 60%,
which shall be trimmed if incompatible.
5. Fill each moving part with lithium lubricating grease after
assembling, extreme pressure lithium-based grease No.2 shall be used in
summer and pressure lithium-based grease No.1 shall be used in winter.
IV. Operation and Maintenance
The hook shall take overall checkup once a week during the
operation, which must be checked in time if needed.
See Drawing 1 for the lubricating points of hook: “O” means
lubricating points.
① means to fill albany grease every day.
② means to fill albany grease to the filler well of the main bearing
every day.
③ means to apply a little albany grease or thick engine oil on this
position every day.
④ means to lubricate once a week.
4. Disassemble the twist lock device each quarter to check the
abrasion and whether there is damage or split. Disassemble each part and
take overall checkup and maintenance to them every two years.
5. Loose proof glue shall be applied to the protector bolt while
operating.
 V. Packaging and Transportation
Albany grease shall be applied to the work pieces transported nakedly
to prevent rust and the locking positioning device shall be protected
properly or packing and transporting according to the requirement of
customers.
