How The Corona Virus Spreads

Whats is the Corona Virus? Corona viruses are a family of viruses that can cause fever,
respiratory problems, and sometimes gastrointestinal symptoms too. The 2019 novelcoronavirus is the
one of seven members of this family known to infect humans and the third in the past three decades to
jump for animals to humans since emerging in China in December. This new coronavirus has caused a
global health emergency, sickening almost 100.000 people worldwide, and so far killing more than
3000 as of March 3, aout 100 cases had been reported in the US, and six people have died.

The corona virus known as COVID-19 spreads from person to person in close proximity,
similiar to other respiratory illnesses, such as flu. Droplets of bodily fluids such as saliva or mucus
from an infected person are dispersed in the air on surface by coughing or sneezing. These droplets
can come into direct contact with other people or can infect thode who pick them up by touching
infected surface and then their face. According to scientist, coughs and sneezes can travel several feel
and they stay suspended in the air for up to 10 minutes. For example you meet someone who
contracted the virus, and they touched their mouth or nose with their hand when that person shares
your hand, they transfer some virus to your hand. If you then touch your mouth or nose without
washing your hands firts, you may accidentally give that virus an entry point into your own body.

It can be difficult to avoid being exposed to the virus, escpecially if you’re often surrounded
by other people but, according to the CDC, there are number of things you can do to protect yourself :
wash your hands frequently, use hand sanitizer, avoid touching your face, etc.

Right now, experts are suggesting that’s not necessary to wear a face mask to protect yourself
from getting sick. So better you stay at home or we call social distancing.
