BUSINESS COMMUNICATION

A. UNDERSTANDING
business communication is communication used in the business world, which includes verbal and
communication nonverbal. However, business communication is intertwined with interpersonal
communication, which is a form of communication that is commonly found in daily life between two
or more people to achieve certain goals. Business communication is also different from cross-cultural
communication (intercultural / cross-cultural communication) which is communication made between
two or more people, each of whom has a different culture.

B. COMMUNICATION ELEMENTS
Every person is aware or uncertain of communication, the success of every aspect of life is
determined by the communication skills of a person or group. There are seven aspects that cause
communication to occur, namely;
1. Human existence
2. the presence of a message
3. Channels
4. interference
5. Context
6. Feedback
7. Influence

C. VERBAL COMMUNICATION
Verbal communication is a form of communication that is commonly used to convey business
messages to other parties through oral or written. This form of communication has an organized and
well-organized structure. Examples of verbal communication in the business world include;
a. Make and send a reprimand letter to customers who are in arrears on payment
b. Make and send a letter of offer prices of goods to other parties
c. Discuss in a work team
d. Conduct management training for operaional managers / line managers
e. Conduct business presentations with investors

D. IMPORTANCE OF VERBAL COMMUNICATION


With verbal communication it is expected that people can understand what is conveyed by the sender
of the message both in the form of listening to information conveyed orally and in writing. Effective
business communication is very dependent on one's skills in sending and receiving messages. In
general, to send someone's business message
can use verbally (30%) and written (9%). Whereas to receive business messages people often use
hearing / listening (45%) and reading / reading (16%).

E. NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION
Nonverbal communication is one form of communication that is commonly used in
conveys messages using gestures / body language. Examples of nonverbal communication include:
a. Frowning means someone is thinking
b. Smiling and shaking hands as a reflection of pleasure, sympathy and respect for business relations
c. nodding his head in agreement with the opinions of business partners

F. IMPORTANCE OF NONVERBAL COMMUNICATIONS


Nonverbal communication is very important because it has a greater influence than verbal
communication, nonverbal communication cues are very important to convey one's feelings and
emotions. The advantage of nonverbal communication is its reliability, this is related to the high level
of trust in the truth of the message delivered. With nonverbal cues a person can detect fraud or
confirm the honesty of the information he receives
