but usually also rely on other senses, such as hearing and touch.

5. In which Situation we prefer Star topology over Ring topology?

• The situation in which we prefer Star topology over ring topology is that in Ring
topology if one workstation goes down, the entire network gets affected. Since data
being transferred over the network has to pass through each workstation, this
makes it slower than a star topology.
6. What are the advantages of Bus Topology?
• It works well when you have a small

network.

• It's the easiest network topology for

connecting computers or peripherals in a

linear fashion.

• It requires less cable length than a star

topology.

7. What is instant messaging?

• Instant Messaging (often called IM) is a real time communication with the user at the
other end.

with 30 computers where he wants the main control should restrict to one
computer only. Identify the topology for him and write any one advantage and
disadvantage each for the selected topology.
• Advantage- Easy to connect new nodes or devices. In star topology
new nodes can be added easily without affecting rest of the network.
Similarly components can also be removed easily.

• Disadvantage- Too much dependency on central device has its own

drawbacks. If it fails whole network goes down.
