PLANNING CONCEPT
Since our main goal is to provide affordable housing units for illegal dwellers
in Pasay City, we the researchers come up to an idea of a socialized housing that
improves human spirit, and responds to the growing needs of water, power, shelter,
healthcare and appropriate education and knowledge to every citizen. With the
accordance of Batas Pambansa 220 and Presidential Decree no. 957, we come to a
minimalist concept for socialized housing, inspired by the Monterrey Housing of
Arch. Alejandro Aravena.

The Monterrey Housing provides 70

homes by building the basic house including Family Level

bathroom, kitchen and stairs but leaving voids

that allow residents to adapt and expand each
property themselves.

The building contains a continuous roof ROOF

covers the structures and voids between them. It
was arranged in a rectangle around a shared
garden, with a two-story apartment above each
ground floor use.

This idea helps the residents of the

housing an opportunity to construct part of the DUPLEX
home themselves. By only building half the
house residents, when time, effort and resources
permit, personalized their own home reflecting
the needs and wishes of each individual family.

This minimalist concept has an advantage

to use a least amount of construction materials SLAB

without neglecting the residents’ taste of design,

and it also gives the residents a free opportunity
to design and create their own house according
to their desires. Aside from that it also gives
solution to the problem of the site which is the untidiness of the existing site.UNITS

concept promotes neatness and balance.

The diagram shows the interrelation of spaces in the site. Housing units has
the high priority. The area is connected in an open field that act as the
medium of interaction of the neighborhood. Parking are located near the
entrance to have an ease of access.
