 Review of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

The most important series of books of the nineties and the twenty-first century,

written by the amazing and talented J.K.Rowling, reached over five hundred million

copies sold. The writer inspired the saga of Harry Potter with her first book “Harry

Potter and the Philosopher´s Stone”. The story is about a child in Privet Drive, a small

town in London, who was born with a wonderful gift that he did not know he had and

his life change when he receives an invitation to attend a magic school where lives

several adventures and dangers.

The story takes place at the Hogwarts School of Magic and Sorcery where

Harry meets his best friends and learns all his courses. In addition, he is selected to

participate in the Quidditch team as a first year student and will face many obstacles.

The book begins when Harry Potter being a baby is left at the door of the house

of his uncles by three magicians. The story continues when he turns ten and receives a

letter to attend Hogwarts but his uncle does not allow him to read it. However, the day

of his birthday a man appeared in the house called Hagrid, who takes Harry to buy the

things he needed to start his magic studies. Then he takes the train and meets two

friends who later become his best friends as they go through all the obstacles together,

stumbling upon Professor Quirrel who lodges Voldemort to get the philosopher's stone

but with help of Professor Snape, Harry can be saved.

Among the main characters are Harry Potter who is the main character of the

book, a boy with a scar on his forehead. His parents were murdered so he had to live
with his uncles until he received his letter. Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger

Harry's bests friends who belongs to the house Gryffindor and those who accompany

him throughout his journey. Rubeus Hagrid is the guardian of the keys of Hogwarts

who gives Harry his letter and gave an owl named Hedwig. Severus Snape is the head

of the Slytherin house who always protects him.Professor Quirrell is the professor who

helps Voldemort. Finally, Lord Voldemort the Harry Potter parents´killer who searches

for the philosopher's stone to have eternal life and kill Potter.

Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson consider that it is an honor to

be the image of the magical world of Harry Potter known by millions of readers around

the world know. Alan Rickman always had mixed feelings with his character, feeling a

deep frustration, for all the creative decisions about his character.

The three friends went through many difficulties while sleep the three-headed

dog, play magic chess and destroy Professor Quirrell to defeat the Dark Lord.Harry

woke up unconscious in the nursing. Subsequently, Gryffindor wins the Cup of the

Houses for their effort. J.K. Rowling does not believe in the magic of his books. For that

reason she recommended that when you read a book there is something very magical

and special.
