Medium research:

• What is a short film? Purpose of a SF (audience survey and online research)


• History of short films, how they have developed (online research – articles)

Genre research:

• Conventions of chosen genre, what my audience expect to see/hear (Focus group)


• Video analysis (two examples of productions – discuss narrative, mise-en-scene, camera
work, etc.)

Contents research:

• Research topic of obsession – impact it has on characters, development, causes..

Practical skills research:

• Research new skills to include within my work – camera skills, editing, mise-en-scene
(YouTube, experimentation)

Artists/professional research:

• Two artist I admire – what they have produced, how they have told their story, what was
successful?
• What ideas I will draw on for my own work (Primary and Secondary research, Analysis and
experimentation)

Target audience research:

• Who should my work be targeted at? What do they want to see? (Survey)

Platform research:

• Where could I air my production, where would it receive the best response? What platforms
do my audience use the most? (Focus group/survey)
