• 2 GIGE PoE ports
• 1 FE port for WipAir8000-ET
• 2 TNC RF port for external antenna
• 1 optional BNC port for synchronized radios
Grounding screw
• Interfaces:
• Ethernet GE or FE - To Ethernet network
• Ethernet GE or FE + PoE - To Outdoor unit
• AC or DC socket - To power line
• Plug the Outdoor Unit cable to the RJ-45 Jack marked “PWR LAN-OUT”.

Radio Setup
• Radios default IP: 10.50.1.1 for MUs and 10.50.1.2 for SUs
• If the IP of the radios is unknown, use the Link Manager by connecting directly to the radio
• In order to establish a link between MU to SU the following condition should nbe met:
• MU and SU are set at the same band and same channel BW
• SU mac is configured at the MU configuration TAB (WEB Management)
• MU ID is configured identically at the MU and the SU
• RF RX level at the reception should be <(-20dBm) > radios sensitivity
Warning
On lab/bench tests, of links with external
antennas ports, a minimum of 50dB
attenuation should be used, to avoid any
damage to the radios.
Installation
• WipAir (MIMO):
• Dual polarization (Vertical + Horizontal)
• Dual slant (+/- 45 degrees)
Antenna alignment
Before alignment verify the following:
• MU and SU are equipped with antenna with same polarization
• MU and SU are configured to the same band and the same bandwidth
• Configure the MU to fixed modulation BPSK1/2 for upload and download
Gross alignment
• Align the azimuth using magnetic compass, or to the estimated direction on the pear
radio
• Adjust the elevation to the estimate direction of the peer radio
Fine Alignment using RSSI indication from Web management or Link Manager
• Verify connectivity between MU to SU, obtaining RSSI level and link status Online
• Align the azimuth in small and slow variation
• Lock the Azimuth screws when obtaining the highest RSSI level
• Align the elevation in small and slow variation
• Lock the elevation screws when obtaining the highest RSSI level
Installation
• Align the antenna in the link’s direction. Listen to the buzzer tone level. Any sound
(fast, medium or slow) indicates a reception.
• Scan for best azimuth point:
• Rotate the antenna to the left and right, scanning for the maximum azimuth reception point.
• After azimuth scanning, align the azimuth to the location with the fastest beeping rate and
secure the azimuth screws.
-75dBm -65dBm
-53dBm
-50dBm -53dBm -65dBm
Installation
After alignment
• Compare the RSSI level to the link budget calculation.
• For LOS link the RSSI level should be within 3-5dBs of the calculated number. In case
RSSI is not in this range, realign the antennas.
• Configure Adaptive modulation for both uplink and downlink.
• Optimize the channel, selecting the channel with the lowest noise level.

Time synchronization
Let’s take a look at a tower with more than one MU, operating on same channel.
The time line for the Master Units will look like:
MU 1
MU 2
Time Synchronization - MU1 and MU2 are synchronized so they receive and
transmit at the same time:
MU 1
MU 2

The Link Manager is a legacy tool, used for installation, configuration and
monitoring of WipAir units - Master Units (MU) and Slave Units (SU)
The Link Manager
“EL” - Enable Logger. Issue log messages from the unit into the Link
Manager log window.
“RT” - Reset Text. Logs the last reset reason of the unit to the log window.
Direct Login
“Use Gateway” - mark this option when a router separates the PC and the unit.
Installation Window
MU ID (SU only)
Configure the MU ID that WipAir SU will connect to.
The MU identifies itself using the MU ID and not using its MAC address.
In case the MU is replaced, the new MU is configured with the old MU ID
(without re-configuring the SUs).
Installation Window
• MU Operational Modes:
• Online – The MU is online, without link to the SU
• Online link up – The link is online
• RF Analyzer – RF Analyzer mode
• SU Operational Modes:
• Scanning – The SU is searching for the MU, scanning
the selected channels (marked in the channel scan list)
• Online link up – The SU is connected to the MU
• RF Analyzer – RF Analyzer mode
Installation Window
RSSI
Received Signal Strength Indication. This field shows link’s quality
and is used to adjust the position of the SU during installation.
PER
Packet Error Rate, this field shows the quality of the RF channel.
Firmware upgrade
• Drag & drop the firmware file to the window. The alternate bank will
be selected automatically as the ‘Target Bank’.
• Press Submit.
• After successful upgrade, the Link Manager will prompt to switch
banks and reset the unit. Answer ‘Yes’ to load the new firmware.
TFTP
Perform the upgrade using TFTP. Make sure that the firmware file is
located in the TFTP server directory.
Boot Bank
Use this section to easily switch firmware bank.
• Select the desired bank and press “Switch Banks”.
• “N/A” means there is no firmware in the bank.
License Window
License upgrade
• Drag & drop the license file to the window.
• The MAC addresses listed in the file will automatically appear.
• Press submit to update the unit’s license. The unit will reboot after
the upgrade.
When the RF Analyzer is active, it shuts down the RF channel (no link)
BW Test Window
PC1 MU
AU SU
SU PC2
Pressing ‘EL’ button will send log messages from the unit into the Link Manager
log window.
MU Logs
Sec = time (sec) from last MU reset.
c = uplink CRC errors.
r = current downlink modulation*
div = [DL/UL] diversity status (0 =Off, 1 = On).
bkp = Backup 1+1: 0=off, 1=on
SU Logs
When the Link Manager logs into a unit, it automatically displays the last reset
reason of the unit.
