Introduction:
2 mins  Students sit in a circle
 Let’s Sing Hello
Body:
 Introduce the title of the book to the students and tell them that they have a
special part while you read the book. Teach the students their part of the
book by rote
 Sing the book all the way through and gesture to the students when it’s
their turn to sing (melody is slightly varied)

THE MUFFIN MAN


 Students sit in a circle
10 mins  Teach children the song: Do you know the muffin man, the muffin man,
the muffin man, do you know the muffin man who lives in Drury Lane?
 One child steps around the inside of the circle as all students sing the first
verse
 On the word “Lane” the child who is “it” points to the nearest person as a
partner. These two then step around the inside of the circle as the group
sings “two of us know the muffin man..” these two choose partners and the
game continues until all are chosen. Sing “All of us know the muffin man”
IF TIME: Hop Old Squirrel: teach song
 Hop Old Squir’l, iedle-dum eidle-dum, Hop old Squir’l, Eidle-dum dee
 Students will hop around freely. Substitue other words and actions for hop
such as jump, creep, crawl, run, skip, walk, sit etc.
 Play piano while kids perform actions
