instrument families through a story called The
Carnival of Animals
Body: INSTRUMENT FAMILIES
 Walk students through the slides, introducing the four
orchestral families and examples of instruments that
fall into those families
 Talk about the different families of instruments:
 Percussion: anything that you can hit, shake or
scrape: use different examples of instruments in the
room- show short video
 Strings: anything you strum, bow or pluck- show
video of string quartet (some or all)
