Dear Parish Family,
Today is the Fourth Sunday of Advent. This weekend RECONCILIATION
the fourth and final candle will be lit on our Advent wreath. No confession on 12/25
We are only days away from celebrating Our Lord’s Birth
on Christmas. PARISH PENANCE SERVICE
The Advent season is usually a busy one and this Monday – December 20th – 7:30 PM
year was no different. But despite the busyness of our Scripture Readings – Homily
days many of you came out to take advantage of our Individual Confessions & Absolution
Silent Nights. The church on these special nights is
illuminated and truly becomes a sanctuary of peace in a CHRISTMAS MASSES
frazzled hectic world. As the song, “You Are Mine”, says: Christmas Carols 1/2 hour before each Mass
(except 8 AM Mass).
“I (the Lord) will come to you in the silence”.
Christmas Eve – December 24th
Last weekend we collected and distributed items from
5:00 PM and 10:00 PM
our Giving Tree. Over 1,000 gifts were collected and
given to local charities. Thank you!! A big thank you goes Christmas Day – December 25th
to Glenna Connelly, Mary Menditto, the members of the 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM and 12:00 Noon
Human Concerns committee, and the youth volunteers (Please Note: There is no 5 PM Mass on Sat. 12/25)

Religious Education News
There are no classes on December 26th and January
2nd. Classes resume on Sunday, January 9, 2011.
Grades 6 and 7 will have their retreat on January 9th
beginning with 10am Mass. The retreat follows in the
auditorium until 2pm. Special thanks to our 4th, 5th
and 6th graders who made Christmas cards for the
homebound and nursing home friends. Liturgy of the
Word for Children will continue to be celebrated on
December 26th and January 2nd at the 10am Mass.
How to Report Abuse - The Archdiocese takes very
seriously any and all allegations of sexual misconduct by
members of the clergy, Religious and lay staff of the
Archdiocese. We encourage anyone with knowledge of
an act of sexual misconduct to inform us immediately so

PRO-LIFE MEDITATION FOR THE ADVENT SEASON
Christmas is the feast not only of the birth of Jesus, but of
the Incarnation--the whole mystery of God becoming
human. Jesus was an embryo, a fetus, an unborn child.
Life in the womb, which was already sacred because it
comes from God, is now made even more holy, and
worthy of our every sacrifice. Thanks to Christmas, there
are no strangers, and the protection of everyone's life, at
all stages, is our solemn responsibility.

New Year's Resolution. The new Church year began
on Nov. 28th. Here is a Spiritual New Year's Resolution
that is easy to make. Join Catholic Clergy (Bishops,
Priests, Deacons) as well as many Catholic Lay people in
reciting the Morning and Evening Prayers from the Liturgy
of the Hours also known as The Divine Office. There is

and Evening Prayers for each day. You can also hear
them recited and if you have iTunes, an iPod or an
iPhone, you can download them as well. It is a simple
resolution that can have a profound effect on you.

How do I schedule a Baptism? - Baptisms are scheduled once a month during the year (except during Lent). Arrangements must
be made in advance by calling the rectory during business hours. Parents must be registered members of the parish
(on our parish mailing list). Parents are required to attend an instruction session the week before.
Sacrament of Marriage - Please make arrangements at least one year in advance.
Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick - Anyone sick or housebound, or who is going to the hospital for tests or surgery,
please call a priest at the Rectory.
R.C.I.A.- (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) - is the process the Catholic Community provides to welcome adults who wish to
become Catholic and to prepare adult Catholics to receive Confirmation (and, when needed, First Eucharist).
Please contact Fr. Kevin for more information. Meets Tuesday evening 7:00 PM in the Rectory Basement.
Religious Education - Classes meet on Sunday mornings from 8:30 - 9:50 AM for grades 1-8. Office hours for the Religious

What about my ‘Teenager’? - Our parish has a very active “Youth Ministry” program for the youth of our parish.
Our Youth Group takes part in Retreats held in the Archdiocese and also participates in various functions that are held within our

Alive In the Spirit - A charismatic prayer group meets every Wednesday at 7:30 PM in the lower level of the Rectory.
Choir - Come join the Music Ministry! The Family Choir meets from 6:30 - 7:30PM and the Adult Choir follows from 7:30 - 8:30PM

Rosary - Prayed after the 8:30 AM Mass Monday-Saturday.
St. Pio (Padre Pio) Devotion - The first Friday of every month at 7:30 PM in the church.
Eucharistic Adoration - The first Saturday of each month following the 8:30 AM Mass until 10:00 AM, closing with Benediction.
Corpus Christi Adoration Chapel - Hasbrouck Heights, NJ /Monday through Thursday from 12 Noon to 10 PM.
Our Lady of Visitation Chapel - Paramus, NJ /Sundays from 2:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Sacred Heart Church - Rochelle Park, NJ /First
Fridays of the month from 8:30 AM - 8:30 AM Saturday. Every Thursday after 8 AM Mass for an hour.
Perpetual Adoration - Our Lady of Mt. Carmel - Ridgewood, NJ (24 hrs. - 7 days)
Bible Study - Classes meets mornings and evenings. Discussions and sharing will be on the Gospel for the coming Sunday.
