LIST OF PIL MOOTS

1. 60th Philip C Jessup International Moot Court Competition, 2019


 About the Moot: It is one of the World’s premier moot competitions conducted by the
International Law Students Association.
 Team Members: 2 Oralists + 2 Researchers (optional)
 Registration: Registration closes on 16 November, 2018.
 Release of Problem: Released.
 Dates: Indian National Rounds will be held on 7-10 February, 2019 at Amity Law
School, Noida and the World Rounds will be held on 31 March–6 April, 2019 at
Washington, D.C.

2. 28th Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition, Asia-Pacific Regional
Rounds
 About the Moot: The International Institute of Space Law conducts the moot based on
space law.
 Team Members: 2 Oralists + 1 Researcher (optional)
 Registration: Not announced yet
 Release of Problem: Not released
 Dates: Not released yet. The last edition of Asia-Pacific regional rounds was held on 11-
13 April, 2018. The winning teams will compete in the World Finals to be held in
October, 2019.

3. 17th John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition, Asia-Pacific Regional Rounds 2019
(formerly known as ELSA Moot Court Competition on WTO Law)
 About the Moot: The ELSA Moot Court Competition is a simulated hearing of the
WTO dispute settlement system and deals with international trade law issues.
 Team Members: 2 Oralists + 2 Researchers (optional)
 Registration: Registration closes on 2 December 2018.
 Release of Problem: Released.

 Submission: 11 January, 2019
 Dates: The Asia-Pacific Regional Rounds will be held on 23-27 February, 2019 in
Singapore and the Final Oral Rounds will be held on 4-8 June, 2019 in Geneva.

4. 12th International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition, 2019


 About the Moot: It is organised by the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies
and is based on international criminal law and in particular on the International Criminal
Court, its mandate and its jurisprudence.
 Team Members: 2 Oralists + 2 Researchers (Optional)
 Registration: Closes on 1 November, 2018.
 Release of Problem: Released
 Submission: 14 March, 2019
 Dates: Universities from India have to qualify first by participating in the National
Round held at National Law University, Delhi. The Final Rounds will be held on 2-7
June, 2019 at The Hague, Netherlands.

5. 16th Commonwealth Moot Court Competition 2019


 About the Moot: The Commonwealth Moot is an initiative of the Commonwealth Legal
Education Association (CLEA) and the Commonwealth Lawyers Association.
 Team Members: 2 Oralists + 1 Researcher (Optional)
 Registration: Not announced yet
 Release of Problem: Not released yet
 Dates: It will be held in Livingstone, Zambia from 8-12 March, 2019. Universities from
India have to qualify first by participating in the National Rounds.

6. 20th D. M. Harish Memorial International Moot Court Competition 2019


 About the Moot: One of India’s most prestigious International Moot Competitions, it
deals primarily with contemporary legal issues relating to Public International Law.
 Team Members: 2 Oralists + 1 Researcher (optional)
 Registration: Closes on 5 October 2018.
 Release of Problem: Released
 Submission: 12 November 2018 (Memorial Elimination)
 Dates: The Moot will be conducted on 8-10 February, 2019 at Government Law
College, Mumbai. The first stage is a memorial elimination round, post which the
qualifying teams take part in the Oral Rounds.

7. 3rd Children’s Rights Moot Court 2019


 About the Moot: This moot is organized by Leiden University based on International
Children Rights.
 Team Members: 2 Oralists + 2 Researchers (Optional)
 Registration: Closes on 1 November, 2018.
 Release of Problem: Not released yet

 Dates: It will be held in Leiden, Netherlands from 3-5 April, 2019.

8. 17th Oxford International Intellectual Property Law Moot Court Competition 2019
 About the Moot: The Oxford IPR Moot focuses on various issues concerning
intellectual property rights.
 Team Members: 2 Oralists + 1 Researcher (optional)
 Registration: Not opened
 Release of Problem: Not Released
 Submission: Not released yet
 Dates: The first stage is a memorial elimination round, post which the qualifying teams
take part in the Oral Rounds. The rounds will be conducted from 14-16 March, 2019 at
Oxford University.

9. 10th Leiden – Sarin International Air Law Moot Court 2019


 About the Moot: The International Air Law Moot Court Competition is a unique
opportunity to gain experience in the development of arguments in the field of
international air law.
 Team Members: 2 Oralists + 1 Researcher
 Registration: Closes on 29 October, 2018.
 Release of Problem: Not released
 Dates: India rounds will be held on 2 February, 2019 at Army Institute of Law, Mohali.
World rounds will be held from 5-7 April, 2019 in Chandigarh, India.

10. IASLA Space Law Moot Court Competition, Asia Pacific Regional Rounds 2019
 About the Moot: The International Air and Space Law Academy’s Moot Court
Competition strives to provide students around the world an opportunity to explore
international space law through advocacy, debate, and academic and cultural exchange.

 Release of Problem: Not released
 Dates: Not announced yet. The previous edition of the Competition had Asia Pacific
Regional Rounds in Sydney, Australia from 3–6 April, 2018 and International Finals from
28–29 June, 2018 at Washington, D.C., USA.

11. 2nd NILS Business & Human Rights Moot Court Competition 2019
 About the Moot: Conducted by the Network for International law Students, it focuses
on the emerging area of Business & Human Rights.

 Registration: Not announced yet
 Release of Problem: Not Released
 Dates: World Rounds scheduled from 12 –14 July, 2019. India Rounds for the previous
edition were held in January 2018.

12. 2nd INTA Asia Pacific Moot 2019
 About the Moot: Conducted by the International Trademark Association, it aims to
introduce law students to important issues arising in trademark and unfair competition
law

 Registration: Opens in the week of 17 September, 2018.
 Release of Problem: Not Released yet
 Submission: Not released yet
 Dates: The Competition will be held in Singapore on 1-2 March, 2019.

13. Herbert Smith Freehills Competition Law Moot 2019


 About the Moot: The Dickson Poon School of Law, London organizes this moot.

 Dates: The Competition is provisionally scheduled to be held on 13-15 June, 2019. The
first stage is a memorial elimination round, post which the qualifying teams take part in
the Oral Rounds.

14. 3rd Ian Fletcher International Insolvency Law Moot Competition 2019
 About the Moot: The moot is organized by QUT Faculty of Law, INSOL International
and the International Insolvency Institute. The problem adopts the UNCITRAL Model
Law on Cross-Border Insolvency

 Registration: Registrations close on 26 October, 2018
 Release of Problem: 5 October, 2018
 Submission: 9 November, 2018
 Dates: The Competition is provisionally scheduled to be held on 28-31 March, 2019.
The first stage is a written submission round, post which the qualifying teams take part in
the Oral Rounds.

15. 31st Jean Pictet Competition – International Humanitarian Law 2019


 About the Moot: The Jean-Pictet Competition is a weeklong event on international
humanitarian law intended for students. It consists of the jury of the Competition
evaluating teams’ theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of IHL.
 Team Members: 2 Oralists + 1 Researcher
 Registration: Registrations open till 8 November, 2018.
 Release of Problem: Not released
 Dates: The Competition will be held in France from 16 – 23 March, 2019. Top 48 teams
are selected based on an elimination round.

16. 23rd Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition 2019
 About the Moot: The Competition requires students to argue the merits of a
hypothetical case written on a cutting-edge topic currently being debated within the
Inter-American human rights legal system.
 Team Members: 2 Oralists
 Registration: Registration closes on 15 March, 2019.
 Release of Problem: Not released
 Dates: Not announced yet. The previous edition of the Competition was held at the
American University, Washington College of Law from 20 - 25 May, 2018.

17. 7th Nuremberg International Criminal Law Moot Competition 2019


 About the Moot: The competition aims to encourage university students to become
familiar with International Criminal Law by arguing a fictitious case in front of the
"International Criminal Court".
 Team Members: 3 Oralists + 2 Researchers (optional)
 Registration: (Last edition) closes in April 2018.
 Release of Problem: Not released yet.
 Dates: Last edition held in July 2018. Teams are invited to participate in the Oral
Rounds at Nuremberg only after clearing an application stage.
