Apple to Extend to Twenty more New Countries

Looking back in 2012, Apple enlarged its App Store to be available in

additional 32 new countries. The company is still keen on expanding even
further; plans are underway to add twenty more countries to gain access to
the App Store soon, the company announced the biggest expansion of the
platform on Monday 23rd. These additions will bring the total up to one
hundred and seventy-five.

This development was published on their site on the developer section, and
the company further stated that the reason behind the expansion is to enable
developers to increase their impact plus expand their entrepreneurship in
unfamiliar markets. Based on 9To5Mac, the countries featured in the
expansion plans include Afghanistan, Gabon, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire,
Georgia, Serbia, Maldives, Montenegro, Morocco, Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Tonga, Iraq, Kosovo, Libya, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nauru, Rwanda, Zambia
and Vanuatu.

When combined, these new additions will provide a massive surge on the
platform's consumer base of around 291 million people in total.

Developers with a desire to see their apps launched in new markets have to
complete a series of guidelines before April 10 th to have their products
included on the platform ahead of the official launch later this year.

The following steps should be followed if you, as an app developer, intend to

have your app appear in the twenty new regions:

Your membership account holder must first agree with the latest Program
License Agreement by signing into their account on the Apple Developer
Website.

If you already have a Paid Application Agreement, the Account Holder must
also agree with the most recent agreement in App Store Connect.

You will then click on the “New Regions or Countries” checkbox in the Pricing
& Availability portion of your application information page, this will instantly
make your app appear in every new region/countries.

If you can meet these steps before April 10th, this year, your app will be
automatically set to be published on the platform and accessible across the
new countries.

Apple will notify you on when to select from specific new countries and adjust
the primary subscription pricing for your new regions.

Despite the limited user base, the App Store has been for a long time
outperforming Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG)(NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google’s Play
Store revenue. Based on Sensor Tower’s estimates, Play Store sales were at
$29.3 billion in 2019, which translates to total smartphone app revenue of
$83.5 billion.

Revenue generated from gaming apps remains the main driver of App Store
sales, with the entertainment apps following closely behind. These
approximations will keep Apple in solid grounds for the next quarters.
