143 I swim laps 3X per week, one mile each time, in the large pool at Splash Zone. I Dec 12, 2010 10:45 PM
done't use the small pool at all. Accessibility is my main concern - the swim
teams take over the pool during this part of the year. If the high school athletic
teams take over the facility I will go elsewhere. The new gym and walking track at
Splash Zone doesn't seem to be used that much - should it have been expanded
to an 8th. mile track with the capability of playing volleyball, tennis, etc. in the
middle? I think it is important to build a facility to service the entire community, all
age groups - don't favor one age group over the other.

305 I would be in favor of this partnership and would have joined Oberlin Splash Zone Dec 5, 2010 11:01 PM
years ago, however it seems that the facility is anti-child friendly. My child is an
avid swimmer and we pay for him to work out with a personal trainer. We would
love to use Splash Zone but the hours which are availalbe for children are so
limited that it would make a membership useless. With programs geared so much
against children the School board would be foolhardy to partner with the
Metroparks and it would be an abuse of educational tax dollars to put money in a
program that does not benefit the children they serve unless the facility would be
open and accessible to all. This would include the track, pool, fitness equipment
etc. in hours which are available to children at times they can use the facility. This
is not the case in Oberlin.

1 We live in the City of Amherst, but Firelands School district. How will this affect Nov 16, 2010 1:25 PM
us? I love the idea of a project, but don't want to see it tied to a school levy.
2 The city of Amherst already has a pool. Splash Zone is not a far drive up Route Nov 16, 2010 1:37 PM
58 from Amherst. It would better benefit the county to have a Splash Zone sort of
facility if it was in another part of the county, go east!
3 I've heard alot of people talking about this already, sounds like a very good plan. Nov 16, 2010 1:58 PM
Let's get this done Amherst!
4 While not currently members of Splash Zone we frequent the facility often. Open Nov 16, 2010 2:07 PM
swim times for children/adults VERY important both indoors & out. Also pools
would be great for local swim teams. REALLY, REALLY hope this project comes
to fruition!!
5 The thing I like amout EMH is it is not populated by kids. I understand THEY Nov 16, 2010 2:17 PM
need a place too - so a compromise would need to be made for me to join. I
chose NOT to join the YMCA due to the number of kids there. Maybe an adult
area - or something - not sure how that can be accomplished!
Again - I understand the need for kids/young adults to have a place to go as well -
and I do have the ability to choose to join or not!

22 Move forward with this project. It is long overdue! : ) Nov 17, 2010 2:50 AM
23 project would benefit the city and surrounding area but as with everything I worry Nov 17, 2010 2:58 AM
about the cost. How would the project be funded?
24 Fitness/aerobics classes would be nice. Maybe utilize HS students to facilitate Nov 17, 2010 3:09 AM
classes for credit.
25 Will people who live in Amherst school district but live in Lorain be able to use the Nov 17, 2010 3:50 AM
rec center?
26 Cannot afford more taxes or membership fee at this time. I am actually Nov 17, 2010 4:05 AM
considering moving out of Amherst to avoid paying even more.
27 This would be a great improvement to the community - and a long time coming! Nov 17, 2010 4:07 AM
28 Make it happen!! Nov 17, 2010 5:47 AM
29 I would love to see a recreation center! Nov 17, 2010 10:05 AM
30 Nothing but a pkus for all in this community Nov 17, 2010 1:39 PM
31 We need more field space in Amherst. Youth Soccer, Baseball fields. Help Nov 17, 2010 1:40 PM
32 Would like to see a discounted memberships to those who pay taxes towards Nov 17, 2010 2:08 PM
Amherst School. I district. I grew up and lived in Westlake before moving to
Amherst. When their rec center went up it was a great opportunity for me
because of the discounted rate since I lived in the city. I dumped my private gym
membership to join the Westlake rec. I would imagine others in Amherst would do
the same if given same opportunity.
33 The project and concept sounds very exciting! Because this project will involve Nov 17, 2010 2:10 PM
considerable capital and long-term operational cost, an "affordable" business plan
is required. The more partnerships between businesses, communities, and
residents the better, as the collective ownership will ensure lont-term financial
support. A partership between AEVSD, Lorain County Metroparks, LCCC,
hospitals and local businesses would be ideal. In addition to concurrent high
school/college course credits at the recreation center, perhaps the local hospitals
could use the facility for patient rehab. This could could promote the facility as a
recreation/learning center.
34 Question #10 is not working. If you check more than 1 item with a 10 it deletes Nov 17, 2010 2:58 PM
the others??
35 We are in need of somewhere safe for our young kids to go and the benifits of Nov 17, 2010 3:17 PM
exercise is a no brainer
36 Question 6 makes no sense, seniors is misspelled, Nov 17, 2010 3:36 PM
37 Why not create something in other parts of the county? Nov 17, 2010 3:48 PM
38 Glad you are looking into this to see if it is possible. Nov 17, 2010 4:06 PM
39 On question number 10....I would rank them as all 10's. (the system didn't allow Nov 17, 2010 4:33 PM
me to check each individual one) I was born and raised in Amherst and I could
never figure out WHY we never had a workout facility. THIS IS SUCH GREAT
NEWS, I CANNOT WAIT!!! And when you look at the wonderful job the Metro
parks do at maintaining these facilites....I mean.... just look at Lakeview Park what
it is today....this is amazing if it really happens:) And for the schools and
community would benefit so much to be able to use the facility for so many
different activities, the pool (indoor & outdoor) workout rooms availability would be
such a plus to our school athletes! HURRY and get this project underway!
40 I think there are plenty of Recreation facilities in the area. Nov 17, 2010 5:13 PM
41 I am more than willing to pay for membership but please don't raise my property Nov 17, 2010 6:04 PM
taxes.
42 what a nice idea...especially in this age of obesity and health issues...gives Nov 17, 2010 6:25 PM
everyone a place to go plus brings in money from surrounding cities...
43 good luck...would love to have this in Amherst Nov 17, 2010 6:31 PM

44 I think this is a great idea, and since Fitness is so important and let's not forget Nov 17, 2010 6:41 PM
about Michelle Obama she wants children BMI checked, bi-yearly until 9th grade
and this is a great way for children to see fit parents, too! Health - is a big issue
with America right now, and swimming is such a wonderful workout, easy on
joints!
45 Keep the public informed as the project moves along; GOOD LUCK. Nov 17, 2010 7:04 PM
46 So excited about this.....hope it happens! Nov 17, 2010 7:15 PM
47 Amherst residents should get a discount to use facility and not residents of Lorain. Nov 17, 2010 8:19 PM
It's bad enough they get to go to Amherst schools and get a tax break. Amherst is
slowly turning into Lorain because of this.
48 Avon Lake has their new pool and Avon has their new Y Vermilion has the Y We Nov 17, 2010 8:29 PM
have nothing for these kids to do unless they drive somewhere else!!
49 I believe that this would be a fantastic fit between the Metro Parks and the Nov 17, 2010 8:59 PM
Amherst City Schools. We would be able to create a family/school/community
atmosphere which would attract people from surrounding communities.
50 Like I mentioned earlier this project should be incorporated intot he Premier Nov 17, 2010 10:42 PM
Soccer Academy where there is already meeting rooms, and state of the art
indoor complex, turf fields and room to expand. It is in the Amherst School
district , so what if it is in the City of Lorain the Amherst City Council has already
shown they want no part of the Center.
51 partner with cleveland clinic. to create a large aquatic center Nov 17, 2010 11:39 PM
52 I would love a facility in Amherst and would join as soon as possible! Nov 18, 2010 3:13 AM
53 I think both pools should be open before noon Nov 18, 2010 11:46 AM
54 Question 12 is nto working correctly. If you click important on 2 items it takes it off Nov 18, 2010 11:59 AM
the first cleaving it blank
55 I am concerned with the current economic crisis, people really don't have money Nov 18, 2010 1:02 PM
to be taxed more. While this sounds like a nice project, people are still losing their
houses and the economy is still in the tank.
56 I do not think it should be part of a school levy. It would never pass!!!! Nov 18, 2010 2:18 PM
57 This is a much-needed facility. Swim team would no longer have to travel to Nov 18, 2010 4:27 PM
Oberlin. Older citizens of Amherst need the encouragement of a local facility for
exercise and also socialization. Thank you.
58 very excited about prospect, anything partnerd with metr park turns out to be Nov 18, 2010 6:35 PM
succesful
59 This would be nice but being associated with the schools is a losing proposition. Nov 18, 2010 7:00 PM
60 I would love to see this. When I lived in Oberlin I belonged to Splash Zone. I Nov 18, 2010 7:34 PM
loved going to work out and use the pool. We definitely need something for
Amherst!
61 I live on the east side of Lorain.berlin is further for me make use of a facility Nov 18, 2010 7:49 PM
especially in the winter.I cannot afford the new Avon Y
62 A reasonably priced, moderately designed facility is an asset to a community. Nov 18, 2010 8:02 PM
Anything extravagent is a waste of money.
63 Amherst needs a facility like this. We have often considered joining Splash Zone Nov 18, 2010 8:06 PM
in Oberlin but felt like we wouldn't use it enough because of the drive and felt that
the non-oberlin resident fees were a bit pricey.
64 I currently drive to from Oberlin to Vermilion to have my children attend swim Nov 18, 2010 8:13 PM
lessons. I also drive from Vermilion to Elyria to play volleyball once a week. Would
love to see these activites closer to home.
65 There are going to be a ton of blacks and mexicans coming to the pool, so be Nov 18, 2010 8:45 PM
prepared for them to come from LOW-rain as you Amherst residents refer to us,
that live in the Oaks, even though the value of our homes are probably high than
75% of Amherst's 84 of 104
66 I would be very supportive of this type of facility Nov 18, 2010 8:52 PM

67 soon soon soon Nov 18, 2010 9:00 PM
68 I have gone to Oberlin and Akron. I would love to be able to have this in my own Nov 18, 2010 9:02 PM
backyard...to make myself healthier and something to take my grandchildren
to...would be wonderful
69 We need something for entertainment in the city Nov 18, 2010 9:55 PM
70 We actually live in Lorain but it would be important that we are able to join and Nov 18, 2010 9:58 PM
access this wonderful opportunity.
71 I would love to see this happen. When my grandkids from MI come to visit, we Nov 18, 2010 11:02 PM
always hang out at Splash Zone. If Splash Zone were closer, I would be a
member there. I am looking forward to a rec center/metro park in Amherst.
72 It would be great to have a low cost health facility in Amherst that would promote Nov 19, 2010 12:02 AM
health and wellness.
73 We would be in favor of a levy, but many people in the area can't afford it. Nov 19, 2010 12:55 AM
74 I would prefer to have the Amherst Schools build new schools before a rec Nov 19, 2010 1:01 AM
center!!!!!!
75 I don't believe that the Lorain County MetroParks should "partner" and provide Nov 19, 2010 1:21 AM
funding to the Amherst schools when a similar facility is less than 10 miles away
on RT 58 in Oberlin.
76 This is a long needed project to make our community a place where exercise can Nov 19, 2010 1:37 AM
be a recreational choice for families at a reasonable cost without having to drive to
other communities. This facility would provide jobs for our area and be useful to
the existing high school programs.
77 Splash Zone is a great facility. Eventhough we are not members I have taken my Nov 19, 2010 1:58 AM
duaghter to swim lessons there. My son will be starting soon. It would be great for
the Amherst community to house a facility like this.
78 My child is enrolled in the Amherst school district through open enrollment. We Nov 19, 2010 2:04 AM
spend the majority of our time in Amherst and would join this facility in a
heartbeat.
79 We are very excited to hear about this project. We have been waiting for Amherst Nov 19, 2010 2:26 AM
to get a center like this for many years.
80 At 74 years of age, I have to travel to Oberlin to obtain an indoor pool in the winter Nov 19, 2010 4:35 AM
months. Amherst is much closer.
81 Awesome idea!!! Nov 19, 2010 11:00 AM
82 awesome idea Nov 19, 2010 12:12 PM
83 I am an employee of the Amherst Schools and both of my children went through Nov 19, 2010 12:22 PM
the system. We can only contnue to improve. This is a great idea to improve our
community. I think our city needs this desparately. I see what the Metroparks has
done for Lakeview Park and it is wonderful now!
84 We need to keep this part of project affordable the school project needs to be Nov 19, 2010 1:14 PM
highest priority
85 Amherst needs more soccer fields for kids through adults to play on. Nov 19, 2010 1:14 PM
86 Not at this time. Nov 19, 2010 1:38 PM
87 A recreational facility is long overdue! Nov 19, 2010 2:00 PM
88 I think this is a great opportunity for our community and school district. It will Nov 19, 2010 2:08 PM
provide jobs, save money for community members and be convenient as well.
89 This area needs a fitness center. The EMH center in Avon draws alot of senior Nov 19, 2010 2:13 PM
citizens from Amherst, Lorain, Vermilion. Also, our population is aging and retired
and needs a fitness center to use while the children are in school during the day.
90 this community needs this....we need to encourage people to move into the Nov 19, 2010 2:19 PM
Amherst district

91 I do not support the Amherst Schools getting involved in this program when the Nov 19, 2010 2:34 PM
Amherst schools have blatantly NOT addressed EDUCATIONAL issues of their
students and classrooms. I will not VOTE for another school levy to support this
and I will actively work against this levy and attempt to gain community support to
get this levy to fail. Our children's educational needs to be improved before we
build a recreation center. This is a nice to have not a necessity. I am appalled at
Steve’s Sawyer’s ability to stay on task and fix our classrooms and improve the
quality of education our children are receiving.
92 Great idea!! Nov 19, 2010 2:54 PM
93 This would make a great asset for the city of Amherst, I know many people who Nov 19, 2010 3:55 PM
drive out of our city to go to a gym or family friendly rec center. I really hope this
rec center becomes a reality!
94 It should be made available at a low cost to amherst residents Nov 19, 2010 4:19 PM
95 This is long overdue. Nov 19, 2010 4:49 PM
96 Would be glad to work in any capacity to see this become a reality. Not a Nov 19, 2010 5:15 PM
member of splash zone at present, but I was, and will be again if nothing happens
closer to Amherst.
97 I feel if we are going to get taxed then anyone that is joining even if they go to Nov 19, 2010 5:42 PM
amherst schools but live in Lorain pays more..the price you pay to live in Lorain
and get to go to a great school
98 Great idea to partner with Metro Parks - let's make it happen! Nov 19, 2010 5:57 PM
99 Would like to see an outdoor or indoor and outdoor fenced in - free roam dog park Nov 19, 2010 6:06 PM
indoor and outdoor ice rink
outdoor skate / bike park
100 We really need a Rec. Center in this area! Nov 19, 2010 6:08 PM
101 Amherst residents should get some type of discounted rate for fees/membership. Nov 19, 2010 6:15 PM
102 think it is a fantastic project, will be a jewel for amherst and all members of the Nov 19, 2010 6:16 PM
community!!!
103 I think this would be an excellent project for Amherst Exempted Schools and the Nov 19, 2010 7:56 PM
Metro Parks to partner up with. We need something like this for our youths,
teens, adults, and seniors. When Lorain YMCA closed it's door, that left nothing
locally.
104 Amherst desperately needs this to assist in the continued growth of the Nov 19, 2010 8:41 PM
community. It would assist in making Amherst a city that families want to move to
(instead of Avon).
105 We would LOVE having a facility like this in Amherst. Splash Zone is great but Nov 19, 2010 10:04 PM
too far away for daily use.
106 no more taxes pay allot to live here Nov 20, 2010 12:22 AM
107 I think a recreation center would be tremendous asset to every age group of our Nov 20, 2010 2:08 AM
community! I would love it!
108 The Splash Zone facility is great but they have trouble getting enough lifeguards. Nov 20, 2010 2:12 AM
Many people from Amherst already have memberships there. I have had one in
the past and will join again soon. Would like to see one in Amherst.
109 I think it is a great idea. I would be thrilled if this came to be. Nov 20, 2010 12:58 PM
110 A former at Splash Zone member, I found the distance a disincentive to Nov 20, 2010 1:38 PM
continuing, especially in the winter...would welcome and join a site in Amherst
built for all ages.
111 I have complete faith in the Lorain County Metro Parks. I am less confident in the Nov 20, 2010 3:41 PM
leadership of the Amherst Schools.
112 Make the indoor track larger than the one at Splash Zone. There are LOTS of Nov 20, 2010 4:29 PM
local runners who need a place to run in the cold weather!

113 Has an indoor Ice skating facility been considered? A home rink for the Amherst Nov 20, 2010 5:33 PM
hockey team would also draw in other school districts for practice as well as
games.
114 My FIRST priority is a COMMUNITY AUDITORIUM but I also support this project Nov 20, 2010 6:02 PM
IF run by the metro park...they saved Lakeview in Lorain!
115 I think this would be great for the community but I do not want it to bring down the Nov 20, 2010 6:36 PM
necessary new elementary building.
116 Amherst needs this! Nov 20, 2010 7:47 PM
117 Should be show to be a comunity center not just a gym, or a pool. If it has Nov 20, 2010 9:04 PM
activites for all ages then it is more likely to get support from all. Check out
Dublin, Oh for how to build. Westlake has a good one too. Dublin is the goal
though.
118 all activities need to be affordable...9.00 for yoga else where is way too expensive Nov 20, 2010 11:56 PM
that equals about 80 dollars a month!!! reallly needs to be affordablefor all not just
seniors.
119 I think we need a skatepark at this rec center if there is one built because kids on Nov 21, 2010 1:32 PM
skateboards get in trouble for skateing on the streets and we need a place to ride
so we don't get in trouble by police and get tickets, its not like we were doing
anything wrong we just wanted somewhere to skateboard and we don't have a
park so what can we do? Please build a skatepark at the rec center if there is one
built. :)
120 This would be a great addition to the Amherst Community. Nov 21, 2010 3:15 PM
121 I am a single parent of two children ages 12 and 10. I would love the opportunity Nov 21, 2010 3:15 PM
for my children to have summer programs available to keep them safe and
healthy while I am at work! :)
122 ice rink in the future? Nov 21, 2010 4:28 PM
123 Keep the prices reasonable for all incomes Nov 21, 2010 9:38 PM
124 I think that this is a really great opportunity for the community Nov 21, 2010 9:53 PM
125 This would be great ONCE THE ECONOMY IMPROVES!!! NOT a good time to Nov 22, 2010 1:48 AM
ask tax payers for money!!
126 I would hope that all the people who live in the Amherst School District would be Nov 22, 2010 2:11 AM
allowed to use the facility even those of us that live in Lorain but are in the
Amherst School District.
127 My sister lives in Independence, and they have an awesome rec center. I want Nov 22, 2010 3:09 AM
one, and across from Beaver Creek Park would be perfect. I've been wanting to
talk to Dan Martin about talking to the people that own that land. That would be
the ideal spot. Thank you.
128 My background is in Wellness and PREVENTION is Key FOR all AGE GROUPS. Nov 22, 2010 3:25 AM
LOVE THIS IDEA
129 A community recreational facility is long overdue. This would be a welcome Nov 22, 2010 4:57 AM
addition to Amherst!
130 Splash Zone has to many dumb rules listed every where you look. Children under Nov 22, 2010 6:35 AM
8 yrs must always be less then an arm length away from an adult.
131 Indoor Skate Park Nov 22, 2010 12:51 PM
132 Get the YMCA to come in and build a site. Not for the school district to do. Nov 22, 2010 2:29 PM
133 build it and they will come just like splash zone! Nov 22, 2010 4:10 PM
134 I am in full support of this type of facility in Amherst, however I have a lot of Nov 22, 2010 5:47 PM
questions as to why the Schools are pushing this effort?
135 If AMherst is going to pay for this, I think that it should be affordable for residents. Nov 22, 2010 5:54 PM
I would like it only for Amherst residents like Avon did with their pol.

136 This would be great for the community. I do not want to drive to Oberlin. I am a Nov 22, 2010 6:08 PM
senior citizen and need the water aerobics for back problems and health reasons.
I have lived in Amherst for over 30 years.
137 If we do this, we need to do it right. The locker rooms need to be big enough and Nov 22, 2010 8:06 PM
well thought out. There needs to be "something for everyone".
138 If you really want to service the northern part of Lorain County then creating a Nov 22, 2010 9:02 PM
partnership with the Soccer Academy or even taking it over outright is the way to
go. It will provide facilities that are the best in Northern Ohio....Add an Indoor pool
and the facility would meet the needs of Amherst, Lorain, Vermilion etc.
139 An auditorium should come first. Nov 22, 2010 11:59 PM
140 this is very important and would help with resale value and adding to the Nov 23, 2010 1:37 AM
community
141 The city of Seven Hills has a beautiful facility. It would be worth checking out and Nov 23, 2010 4:32 AM
talking with the them.
142 such a facility would be a real boon to our community..as I mentioned I feel it is Nov 23, 2010 4:48 AM
long past overdue...Over the years I've taken my children to westlake,
oberlin, rocky river , lakewood etc to use their facilities...we deserve one here in
Amherst....that-and-sidewalks.
143 think we have needed this for a long time. My son plays basketball and we have Nov 23, 2010 12:51 PM
been to many community centers. I think we will benefit as a community on a
whole to have this center.
144 Just to bad that Lorain couldn't also pitch in with this. With The Metroparks Nov 23, 2010 1:35 PM
involved, this will be a win situation! Good Luck.
145 It is about time Amherst starts to think about the community. Amherst residents Nov 23, 2010 1:59 PM
have been forced to go neighboring communities for their fitness and training
needs.
146 Is it possible and is there room to add an indoor facility to Maude Neiding? If so, Nov 23, 2010 2:24 PM
maybe some kind of a partnership could be formed between both of you.
147 you should check out the programming for the City of Dublin. Their recreation Nov 23, 2010 6:19 PM
offers something for everyone. Our community needs that!!
148 There is no reason why Amherst can not have a facilty like this. All of the other Nov 23, 2010 6:22 PM
communities ex: Middleburg Heights have great facilites to offer the families in
their community.
149 I think this would be an excellent project and a boost to the city of Amherst and Nov 23, 2010 8:02 PM
surrounding communities! When I had children at home, we used the YMCA in
Lorain for many activities and classes when it was open.
150 The county - AKA taxpayers - should NOT build a facility for a single school distict Nov 23, 2010 8:29 PM
151 Why are the schools even involved in this? Can't the metroparks partner with the Nov 23, 2010 9:52 PM
city? Are the Oberlin schools a partner in Splash Zone?
152 Splash zone is great just too far away for convenience. I used to be a member Nov 23, 2010 11:10 PM
there.
153 Current pool and gym facilities are aging and need updating. Amherst needs a Nov 24, 2010 2:26 AM
state of the art facility for citizens and school events.
154 This should be a city/twp project, the school system should NOT take the lead on Nov 24, 2010 2:30 AM
this project. This should NOT be included in a bond issue for a new school. I
would support a new school and the funds to run it, but I would not support a
issue packed with all these extras. Drop the auditorium idea also.
155 I think the Amherst Schools should be worried about projects that revolve around Nov 24, 2010 3:27 AM
education. This project does not. A facility, such as this, would always be nice.
Unfortunately, many families will not be able to afford a membership.
156 We have an outdoor pool already. We need to develop other available Nov 24, 2010 1:15 PM
spaces(oldpost office) for meeting rooms

157 I think this would be an asset to the city, but a new school is the first priority, and I Nov 24, 2010 1:28 PM
don't know if enough money is available.
158 I have a son that lives in Westerville, Oh. they do have a beautiful rec center Nov 24, 2010 7:04 PM
there, but I don't believe Amherst has the place for a place so large. 4x's a year
they receive a booklet on all the activities that occur which is amazing. I hope that
senior citizens would be able to enjoy this center also.
159 I really do not understand why this is being hooked up with the schools. Any levy Nov 25, 2010 1:15 PM
for this will pass immediately.
160 I live in Anherst an was a member of Oberlin splash zone but left as did others. I Nov 26, 2010 2:28 AM
know thr swim team needs room for there meets, but paying members need roon
also not just one lane as we had in Oberlin splash zone center.please take tine to
think about this, as people who want to go for a swim after work dont want just
one or two lanes with about two to five people in each lane.thank you for your
time.
161 This would be a great project, with the obesity issues in the area, a safe place for Nov 26, 2010 2:15 PM
families, kids, and teens. Kids in this area are very limited on the activities they
can participate in. School activities are excellent but are limited and are not able
to provide for the variety of age groups. There isn't a rec center in this area and it
would be populated with the surrounding cities too. We are very excited about the
opportunity of an Amherst Recreational Facility. Hoping it will occur soon!!
162 For a Division 1 school, Amherst has among the worst of athletic facilities. Take a Nov 27, 2010 7:25 PM
trip to Avon Lake to view their basketball/wrestling fieldhouse and then go over to
their new football stadium. THAT'S the plan/format Amherst schools should be
looking into. There just isn't an 'among the best' mentality here... It will always be
second rate. We have to appease the voters by building a community center.
The student-athletes in Amherst deserve better, however we will continue to
watch other school systems pass us by.
163 Well, if it is part of the county park system I want to make sure it is not just an Nov 27, 2010 8:53 PM
extension of the Amherst Comets and that all kids have an opportunity to
participate in activities. If it is going to be an extension of Amherst schools, then I
am against it.
164 This is desperately needed in this area. Thank you! Nov 27, 2010 8:56 PM
165 I think this is an OUTSTANDING idea. Nov 28, 2010 4:30 AM
166 this community really needs a recreational facility. people drive to avon, elyria and Nov 28, 2010 5:27 AM
north olmsted for activities, it would be nice to have something here. we also need
a central location for soccer field, with many in one area. it is hard when amherst
has tons of soccer fields all over the area, and there are not enough fields to
facilitate our huge soccer program. we have 2 teams on a field practicing at times
167 I would love to see indoor walking paths and an indoor pool..and an indoor fitness Nov 28, 2010 8:24 AM
center. I would love to see specialized group times and classes for the elderly or
overweight or otherwise exercise challenged separate from what teenagers or
children would access.
Also, 24 hour key card access might be nice..so that working adults could come in
..in the early am or late in the evening. Have some security cameras installed to
record/suspend for any abuse of privilege.
168 GREAT Plan! Long overdue. Nov 28, 2010 2:56 PM
169 I think it would be a nice addition to add community classes such as what the Nov 29, 2010 1:35 AM
YMCA offers. (i.e.- karate for kids, dance classes for kids, Zumba for adults, etc.)
170 The sooner the better. Splash Zone is a great facility, just a long drive for us with Nov 29, 2010 2:21 AM
children. Indoor swimming is a need for this area and a place for children/teens to
go and be active to combat the obesity issues. I would love to see more children
programs for exercise in this area.
171 I believe that a recreational facility in Amherst would be good for the health and Nov 29, 2010 11:34 AM
wellbeing of the community and would support it.

172 It would be great if the site also inlcuded fields for outdoor activities like baseball Nov 29, 2010 12:52 PM
and softball.
173 My entire family would LOVE to see a recreation/waterpark here in the Amherst Nov 29, 2010 1:55 PM
district. I believe it would be a GREAT investment for all!

175 time to get with it Amherst!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nov 29, 2010 9:23 PM
let's do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
176 Please make this happen, it is so discouraging to see other communities with so Nov 29, 2010 11:01 PM
much more than us. We are a great school district with great sports programs but
it does not show in our current facilities.
177 We LOVE the metroparks systems, they do a wonderful job of developing and Nov 30, 2010 12:22 AM
maintaining their properties! I also think having somewhere within walking
distance of the schools for younger kids to spend time and get involved with the
programs would be a great attribute to the community. You already have our
votes!
178 we live in the keystone school district, however would love to see Amherst get a Nov 30, 2010 2:45 AM
facility like spash zone because we frequently go there.
179 I think it is a wonderful idea, I support it Nov 30, 2010 3:41 AM
180 lets get it done! Nov 30, 2010 4:34 AM
181 I feel the ares that the Metro Parks have been involved Nov 30, 2010 12:36 PM
are quality facilities and parks and are on par with our school system! Excellent
that will be better if we all work together.
182 I think it should work out well, taking into account that the metroparks has so Nov 30, 2010 2:55 PM
much extra money and virtually nothing to do with it
183 It would be highly beneficial to have a recreational facility in Amherst for our Nov 30, 2010 3:25 PM
citizens!!!
184 If you could add an ice rink for a hockey team and also community skating as Nov 30, 2010 3:39 PM
another money maker.
185 It would be awesome to have a facility similar to the French Creek YMCA with an Nov 30, 2010 6:21 PM
outdoor pool as well in the area of the Amherst School District.
186 Many of us are living paycheck to paycheck, and some on fixed budgets. Please Nov 30, 2010 6:29 PM
keep that in mind.
187 When we lost the YMCA, we lost a 'homebase' for fitness. Now there are a Nov 30, 2010 6:39 PM
handful of places in this area that do not offer a wide range of fitness
opportunities. For example, Curves is for a certain type of woman with specific
fitness needs. Anytime Fitness is okay, but not in a great location and they do not
offer 'aroebic classes'. Fit for Life is okay, but is sooooo small that you are
bumping into people, and the aroebic class room where cycling is held is
soooooooo small and you have to 'rent' your space on a bike. What Amherst
needs is a facility that offers what cities on the East side of Cleveland offer.
188 price will be important Nov 30, 2010 7:09 PM
and please don't say we have to jack up the price to keep out the rif raf. i am a
widow and $ important
189 I would love to be on the planning committee if you are going to have residents Nov 30, 2010 7:52 PM
represented. Dave Janik-440-988-9110.
190 This project should consider senior activities as well as pursuing the possibility of Dec 1, 2010 11:26 AM
cooperating with a health care facility to offer theraputic services.
191 This would be great to have so than we would acually enjoy living here(: Dec 1, 2010 1:47 PM
192 please build it, my grand kiddies can enjoy it Dec 1, 2010 1:47 PM
193 This would be a great idea for the city. It could bring more job opportunities and Dec 1, 2010 1:48 PM
possibly build this community. :) 90 of 104

195 Amherst should really have a rec center, it is very important. Dec 1, 2010 1:49 PM
196 This would be awesome to open in amherst Dec 1, 2010 1:49 PM
197 we would really like this for the families, and the other people. it would be a place Dec 1, 2010 1:51 PM
for people to hangout and to get to know each other more more
198 I feel that this is very important for our community and schools. Our school swim Dec 1, 2010 1:52 PM
team does not have its own place to practice and Amherst could really use an
indoor pool. The people in our community do not have any place to get together,
work out, and have fun. during winter we have no where to go and have fun and
exercise. Amherst could really use a recreation center.
199 This would make great job oppertunities in our city. Dec 1, 2010 1:52 PM
200 This would be super for all ages Dec 1, 2010 1:53 PM
201 please add a public skatepark please. itll keep kids from doing drugs and keep Dec 1, 2010 1:54 PM
them somewhere there parents can find them, instead of having kids vadilize
property with there skakteboards and bikes
202 I live in N Ridgeville, although 2 of my grandkids live in Amherst, and would love a Dec 1, 2010 2:03 PM
local gym/pool/exercise facility.
203 I think this is a great idea, it gives people of all ages something to do and keeps Dec 1, 2010 2:54 PM
them healthy. Amherst needs something that can help EVERYONE in the
community. I'm sure you could get a lot of volunteers to help make this possible
and help run it.
204 we need something to do in the winter and other seasons that is close to home Dec 1, 2010 3:54 PM
205 As a retired member of the community I am concerned about the cost. Dec 1, 2010 3:56 PM
206 I am on the Girls Cross Country Team at Amherst and we would highly appreciate Dec 1, 2010 4:47 PM
an indoor track on which to do workouts during inclement weather. This would add
to our great athletic tradition here at Amherst because cross country is one of our
schools most successful and historic sports.
207 Great idea to bring this to Amherst! Dec 1, 2010 4:59 PM
208 This is long over due, but it will be hard to get the Amherst City Government Dec 1, 2010 5:22 PM
vocally behind this project. Can it be done with out them?
209 I would love to see an ice rink incorporated into this project. Dec 1, 2010 6:36 PM
210 The Amherst Girls Cross Country team would greatly appreciate having an indoor Dec 1, 2010 6:39 PM
track to do our workouts on in the winter.
211 Would like a wood floor for dance classes. Dec 1, 2010 8:12 PM
Would like a warm water pool for people with special needs
212 I hope this project gets approved and implemented. Have wanted to get my Dec 1, 2010 9:04 PM
children into some recreational activities, such as swimming or gymnastics, but
there aren't too many facilities close by.
213 I would love this and definitely be a member. Dec 1, 2010 10:07 PM
214 A lot of folks that used to belong to the Lorain Y yet live in Amherst are spending Dec 1, 2010 10:35 PM
their money for fitness classes and memberships in Oberlin, Vermilion, and Avon.
It would really be nice to have a place close to home, especially in the winter.
Additionally, our swim team would probably reallly appreciate having their own
place top practice more convenient.
215 As a track and field coach at the high school I take my kids to other schools and Dec 1, 2010 11:02 PM
gyms to train. There was options for myself to start a program for high jumpers
unfortunately the closest place is in Oberlin. An indoor track is useful for all ages.
If set up like Oberlin you can have tennis in the center of the track or use that area
for basketball or volley ball. People of all ages use the Oberlin track for
running/walking. With a indoor track you have tons of income possibilities.
216 I would like the facility to be friendly to the environment and energy efficient. Dec 1, 2010 11:24 PM
Please put the facility in a good location. And please try not to cut down any trees
in the process. Thank-you for reading and listening to my opinion.

217 Answer to number 3- Would love to see regional community collaboration/facility Dec 1, 2010 11:51 PM
involved other health care providers; medical center/YMCA, etc., A facility that
would provide programming for the entire family pre-school thru seniors.
218 Consider a collaboration with the Vermilion YMCA as it is a part of the 10 mile Dec 1, 2010 11:52 PM
radius circle
219 Amherst needs an outdoor pool, but I think they should build their own. Maude Dec 2, 2010 12:18 AM
Neiding is very outdated.
220 Lets get startted ASAP. Dec 2, 2010 2:26 AM
221 indoor competition track could be a big revenue makerfor year round team training Dec 2, 2010 2:40 AM
and meets
222 Like I said on the location , I feel their is a lot of vacant land and a good general Dec 2, 2010 4:06 AM
location for all the communities in the general location Amherst -Amherst
Township- South Amherst - Oberlin . I know I am only one voice , but I do wish
you would take a look. Every time one gos down to the Amherst area there is all
ways so much car traffic and the location I have give you all would have less
traffic going in and out as well as getting to the proposed Recreational Facilty.
Please do at least take a look, if would be good for the area and lorain county .
223 I do feel that there is a great need fo this in the Amherst area. you have proven Dec 2, 2010 7:44 AM
that you can do a good job.
224 I live 15 miles and 22 minutes from the Splash Zone. If gas is $3 per gallon, I Dec 2, 2010 12:02 PM
spend $4.50 in fuel costs per round trip. Amherst is much closer for me.
225 the project is right for the area Dec 2, 2010 1:06 PM
226 I think we have enough problems funding our schools without incurring more Dec 2, 2010 1:17 PM
taxes at this time to build this facility as much as we'd love to have it....not a
priority
227 We live in Amherst but in the Firelands School District and would support a facility Dec 2, 2010 1:46 PM
such as this.
228 Long Overdue!!! Dec 2, 2010 2:10 PM
Maude Needing is OUTDATED, OVERPRICED, TOO SMALL, SIMPLISTIC, and
NO WADING POOL.

236 If you are going to raise amherst taxes for this then if you are not living in Amherst Dec 2, 2010 6:39 PM
and dont pay taxes in the town then memberships should be alot more for
outsiders not living in Amherst...not meaning if your children go to Amherst and
live in Lorain if you arent from Amherst and a paying tax payer then you dont get
the discount! Or if you live in 44001 zip code you dont have a membership fee all
others do. I dont feel that amherst tax payers should be the only ones paying and
everyone gets the use of the place.
237 pilates classes!! Dec 2, 2010 8:08 PM
238 It's a great idea but I'm concerned about the taxes/money you'll need from the Dec 2, 2010 8:55 PM
community and the location. I do NOT want it by my house.
239 I think our community is in desperate need of a facility of this kind. Without it once Dec 2, 2010 9:07 PM
the ecomony comes back, Amherst really doesn't have a lot to offer and so many
other areas do. We need to be able to compete with these surrounding areas.
240 I think this would be great for our area! I would love to have this available to join! Dec 2, 2010 9:43 PM
241 This would be an excellent idea! THANK YOU! Dec 2, 2010 9:46 PM
242 I feel this would be a great asset to our community. I believe this would increase Dec 2, 2010 10:47 PM
property values and I think it would be supported by the local businesses and tax
payers.
243 We need access to this type of facility! Dec 2, 2010 11:00 PM
We are long overdue!!!
244 Our scildren have swam competetively for a total 17 years therefore we have Dec 2, 2010 11:11 PM
been to numerous rec. centers. Cuyahoga Falls (even better than Avon Lakes
newer center) being one of the very best if you have an opportunity to visit their I
believe you will be impressed. Their track is the best ever.
245 great idea. looking forward to it! Dec 3, 2010 12:17 AM
246 This facility is needed in Amherst ! Dec 3, 2010 12:52 AM
247 Splash Zone does not stay open late enough in the evening with their work out Dec 3, 2010 2:06 AM
rooms. Swim teams are practicing late, parents are there, and the work out rooms
were never open. Outdoor pool maynot be needed due to Maude Neiding. Indoor
pool needed for water aeroblics but also for swim teams to practice. DO NOT
build a pool like the new Avon Pool. It is NOT deep enough for their swim team to
hold Meets. AND there is no spectator room. Wasted opportunity, with high
demands for pools by swim teams. Also, the drain system must be self contained
so that if a thunder storm is occurring people can still swim. Splash Zone closes
their indoor pool when there is a thunderstorm. I believe both the indoor and
outdoor drains are tied together which requires the indoor pool to be closed during
a thunderstorm. Splash Zone is a little unflexable with their rules. There needs to
be more common sense with their rules.
248 A location near the Cleveland Clinic would be ideal Dec 3, 2010 2:29 AM
249 Remember Vermilion as a community that would access this facility. Dec 3, 2010 11:40 AM
250 Need a dog park too! Dec 3, 2010 9:05 PM
251 Please please consider all possibilities of this. Our community is terrific and Dec 3, 2010 9:56 PM
would make a rec. center something to be proud.
252 Please check question #10 - doesn't seem to be working correctly. Babysitting Dec 4, 2010 1:51 AM
service would be attractive for community.
253 Need to have more open swin in the schedule. Dec 4, 2010 2:23 AM
Different levels of exercise class for Adults
254 We really need a facility like this in Amherst!!!!! Dec 4, 2010 2:58 AM
255 Could not answer question #3 as the determining factor will be the final proposal. Dec 4, 2010 5:13 PM
Giving only two responses to #3 was very biased. The effect it will have on
millage and the possibility of losing votes for a new elementary school will
determine my support. You should have included a "neutral" answer for #3!

256 My concern is the facility is primarily a school facility (swim team) and the Dec 4, 2010 9:55 PM
community at large will have to "work around" the needs of school activities.
Bill Mansfield
257 I believe that the community will support fundraising for this, but it should NOT be Dec 4, 2010 10:13 PM
tied in with a school levy.
258 Incorporate some of the Amherst Library issues on the last November ballot Dec 5, 2010 12:15 PM
(meeting rooms, auditorium and special programs for the community).
259 Do not go overboard on costs Dec 5, 2010 12:16 PM
260 maybe think about a hockey rink also Dec 5, 2010 1:53 PM
261 Funding would be an issue I need to know more about, as well as what the cost Dec 5, 2010 2:19 PM
would be for a citizen to join. I would hope residents who pay (in taxes) to support
the center would receive a significant discount over those outside of the city.
262 this would be great for our community Dec 5, 2010 5:28 PM
263 While "Walking with the Doc" (CC) at Beaver Creek, one of the CC employees Dec 5, 2010 7:10 PM
mentioned the Cleveland Clinic Lorain should have a health/wellness facility as
that is their focus- any possibility of adding them to your team?
264 Good idea, Hope we can pay for it without raising taxes. Dec 5, 2010 8:36 PM
265 I would not be able to pay any additional tax money for this. Dec 5, 2010 9:43 PM
266 I understand the need to control children in these types of facilities, however Dec 5, 2010 11:01 PM
childhood obesity and diabetes in a growing problem. These facilities need to
also be designed for children to work out as well as adults at the same time to
help work on fitness for all. We live in an area of the country were indoor
recreation for children is also important, not just Sunday evenings for a couple
hours like in Oberlin.
267 I believe if this is even something that could happen it needs to be thought Dec 6, 2010 12:12 AM
through enough to make sure everything that the citizens want and need is gonna
be there so we dont half to keep adding on to the place, also we need to look at
space just in case we need to add on at some point for maybe outside activities.
268 This would be a wonderful idea. I would suggest allowing only amherst residents Dec 6, 2010 1:44 AM
into the facility.
269 I think this would be wonderful for the City of Amherst. I dont want to drive to Dec 6, 2010 2:31 AM
Oberlin or Avon for something like this so it would be great to have a facility like
this local.
270 There is no gym time in the Amherst schools for extra curricular sports. The rec Dec 6, 2010 2:03 PM
center would be helpful for that as well.
271 I live with in the City of Lorain but my children attend school in amherst. I would Dec 6, 2010 2:29 PM
like to be able to be included in the special pricing available to the Residents of
Amherst because we are in their school district.
272 I currently use the Oberlin College rec center because it's free for alumni. Dec 6, 2010 2:32 PM
However, I have had Splash Zone memberships in the past because it has more
lap lanes, more functional treadmills, and more pool hours. It's always a toss-up if
it's worth the money rather than the lesser, but free rec center. It would be a no-
brainer if I could pay to belong somewhere closer to home.
273 Go see the Strongsville Rec Center it is wonderful. Dec 6, 2010 2:42 PM
274 THis would be a huge asset to the community! We are currently on open Dec 6, 2010 3:33 PM
enrollment and are planning on moving in to Amherst for the schools and
community. THe fitness center would be a huge draw.
275 how much is this going to cost us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dec 6, 2010 3:36 PM
276 I think a recreation facility would be a great improvement to the city of Amherst. It Dec 6, 2010 6:36 PM
would be one more attraction for people considering relocating in Amherst.
277 please, please build it!! we go to splashzone now, but would go to an amherst one Dec 6, 2010 8:26 PM
more frequently! 94 of 104
278 I would love to see such a facility built in Amherst. We really miss the old YMCA. Dec 6, 2010 9:09 PM

279 bigger is better. Build it right the first time. Dec 6, 2010 11:38 PM
280 A project definitely needed to keep community healthy and fit and a desirable Dec 7, 2010 12:49 AM
place to live
281 Seems like it would be a great improvement to Amherst and positive impact on Dec 7, 2010 2:19 AM
our children to have an althletic facility for all of us to use together.
282 Close to I-90/ Rt. 2 would be great for easy access from other communities. Dec 7, 2010 2:48 AM
283 I went to Oberlin for the winter months for two years. Have not renewed since Dec 7, 2010 4:49 AM
May of this year. Too far to travel in the winter time. Amherst would be perfect.
284 44001 Dec 7, 2010 5:30 AM
285 It is too far for us to go to Oberlin on a daily basis and not where to go other than Dec 7, 2010 12:03 PM
Avon to far also on daily basis.
286 I think this would be a great asset to our community and would love to be a Dec 7, 2010 12:19 PM
member of the facility!
287 This would be great, I would join immediately! Dec 7, 2010 5:11 PM
288 we really need this rec center because the swim tam has to go to oberlin everyday Dec 7, 2010 5:14 PM
for practice, which i am a member of and it get very annoying since all the other
places we go for meets have pools at there high school or huge rec centers like
westlake. we also need something for teens to do since the town people always
complain that were not doing anything well that is because there is nothing to do
in this town!!! and if people are complain that there taxes would go up by maybe 8
dollars then they should move to avon or westlake were it is way more expensive.
we need to focous on more sports other than football, basketball and volleyball,
because when every we have a meet at splash zone no one wants to go because
it is so far away. also a ice rink would be nice to.
289 Consider partnership with Cleveland Clinic to incorporate rehab clinic; similar to Dec 7, 2010 5:42 PM
EMH Fitness Center.
290 I think that money would be better spent in Amherst instead of going to other Dec 7, 2010 5:47 PM
soccer or tumbling arenas out of the city.
291 Partner with Cleveland Clinic for a kids healthy zone with climbing wall, ropes & Dec 7, 2010 6:48 PM
other activities.
We'd like to see a gathering area where people can meet and relax, wait for
others, do homework, read, work, etc. Wireless of course!
292 city receration needs a BIG boost to be desirable place to live/move to Dec 7, 2010 7:10 PM
293 It is a definite need in this community. Dec 7, 2010 9:02 PM
294 we think this is highly important for the families of this city. Dec 7, 2010 10:27 PM
295 I think it would be great for our community to have a facility like this!!!! Dec 7, 2010 10:29 PM
296 I'm not in favor of any increase in property taxes. Dec 7, 2010 11:36 PM
297 This project is a must. Inactive bodies leads to inactive brains! Dec 8, 2010 12:11 AM
298 Please bring a recreation facility to Amherst. Dec 8, 2010 1:33 AM
299 a location in amherst would make it less crowded for people who live in oberlin Dec 8, 2010 2:10 AM
are
300 Would love to see the schools and parks team up for both the schools and Dec 8, 2010 7:25 AM
community. We need our own facility in Amherst, close to home and spending
our money in our OWN community. We spend way to much money at other
facilities for our children and our selves. Let's keep it here in Amherst. I would
support this 120%.
301 It will be a good thing. We all need to be more cautious about our activity levels Dec 8, 2010 11:45 AM
and people are realizing that. This will make exercise accessible to the
community.

302 This project is long overdue, so many communities (almost all) around us have Dec 8, 2010 12:24 PM
either a ymca, city rec programs including gym space or rec centers it is a shame
amherst does not. I know a lot of seniors that are going to vermilion or avon for
exercise prrograms, if you are going to sell that to the senior the therapy pool and
senior exercise would be a big sell
303 Hope it's union built. Dec 8, 2010 2:39 PM
304 I think it would a wonderful addition to the area and provide fun for the family. I Dec 8, 2010 4:06 PM
really like Avon Lake's outdoor pool but don't want to hurt Maude Needing park. A
great indoor water park would be great! A gym with basketball and volleyball
courts would be good for league play for adults like they have in Elyria.
305 Hockey is our family's favorite sport and I have not heard anything about an ice Dec 8, 2010 4:32 PM
rink being included in the facility.
306 It would be wonderful to have a facility that is close and that is price reasonably so Dec 8, 2010 4:43 PM
a family could attend and not pay separately for babysitting.
307 what will it cost the property owners per year? will there be a high cost for Dec 8, 2010 6:11 PM
familys to join this ?
how long will this project take to complete once the go ahead is given?
308 I think this is a GREAT idea. I hope to see many activities there for Seniors also Dec 8, 2010 6:12 PM
(e.g., craft, and painting classes etc.)
309 This is necessary to the vitality of our community. Dec 8, 2010 7:10 PM
310 As my tax dollars would help fund this facility, I do not think it would be fair to have Dec 8, 2010 7:48 PM
to pay a higher rate to use it than someone who lives in the 44001 area. If you
live within the school district, then it should be the same amount for everyone.
311 As stated above, I firmly believe the school district should explore purchasing the Dec 8, 2010 8:01 PM
Premier Soccer Academy existing buildings. It may be located in Lorain, but it is
in Amherst School District.
312 Great idea to attract more residents to the area. Dec 8, 2010 9:03 PM
313 This would be a great facility if handled correctly. my husband is a personal trainer Dec 8, 2010 9:07 PM
and this type of facility would be perfect for amherst.
314 This is long overdue. Been to Solon, Middleburg Heights, Westlake and others. Dec 8, 2010 9:09 PM
All very nice.
Thanks
315 My one HUGE concern is that it will be taken over by the schools with swim Dec 8, 2010 10:39 PM
teams, sport teams and the like. Not that I don't enjoy kids and teenagers, but
would like to have quality time to myself. Years ago I belonged to the Y on Tower
Blvd. Could only use the pool at weird times and for only short periods of time.
HATED IT. It is already sounding as if this is for the schools sport teams and not
much a COMMUNITY center. Also think that it would be important to charge
REASONABLE fees to Amherst residence. Outsiders more.
316 Fully support. Dec 9, 2010 1:31 AM
City needs to support in addition to schools.
317 How big of a levy would be needed for just the rec center. DO NOT INCLUDE Dec 9, 2010 1:31 AM
THE SCHOOLS. Residents would pass a small levy for the rec. Keep the two
separate.
318 This is a VERY necessary feature for this city. Having a recreation center will Dec 9, 2010 1:36 AM
bring new residents, businesses and possibilities to the city. Having the
Metropark people run this facility is the best idea as they know how to do this well
and all of their projects turn out resoundingly successful. The schools
involvement is encouraging as long as the facility is not taken over with so many
school events that the center is not usable by the residents.
319 I think a facility like this in Amherst is a great idea! Dec 9, 2010 1:37 AM
320 Awesome idea! What an asset to the community this would be! Dec 9, 2010 1:37 AM

322 I used to live in Norwalk, Oh. Check out their Rec.Center and how it is paid for Dec 9, 2010 1:41 AM
and prices for a membership along w/ looking at the facility. It is one of the nicest I
have seen. The track is awesome. A beautiful facility..Something for every
age...You won't be sorry checking it out!!!!
323 I would love to help with the project. Amherst has needed this since I was a kid. Dec 9, 2010 1:46 AM
Call me if needed. Tammy Phelps 988-3132
324 keep it updated and up with the times. offer a variety of classes, especially yoga Dec 9, 2010 1:51 AM
and tai chi, and zumba, and pilates. maybe people who live IN AMHERST (not
school district) can actually get a break in cost or free membership like other
facilities/cities offer their residents.
325 In the current economee there is not the money to buiild such a facility. The local Dec 9, 2010 1:58 AM
area should not be going into debt or raising taxes to pay for such a facility. And
we should not be asking the state of Federal govn;t for the money. The money
from st and fed is our tax money. The size of governemt needs to be reduced and
as long as we kkeep expecting the govn't top provide for us it will not be. The only
thing this can do in raise taxes, debt and the sioze of government.
326 child care would be wonderful...and/or a child/toddler play area. Dec 9, 2010 1:58 AM
327 Would have to do this without a property tax increase. Older folks would no Dec 9, 2010 2:02 AM
longer be able to afford living in Amherst
328 Let people from other cities join.... Dec 9, 2010 2:18 AM
329 I would like to see a rec center mainly for the teens and young adults. It would be Dec 9, 2010 2:27 AM
a great way to hopefully keep them out of the bars.
330 I'll vote for it. Dec 9, 2010 2:39 AM
331 would this facility be self funding, or would it be yet another tax burden at the city, Dec 9, 2010 2:40 AM
county and state levels?
332 The Metro Parks have proven their capabilities. ALL the parks are very well Dec 9, 2010 2:51 AM
maintained and positive attractions. Keep up the good work.
333 Although we have no children living with us we would welcome the opportunity to Dec 9, 2010 2:53 AM
take our grandkids to a facility in the winter -- your metro parks are great in the
other seasons
334 We need an auditorium more than an aquatic center. Dec 9, 2010 2:55 AM
335 Where is the money coming from? The school is having problems taking care of Dec 9, 2010 3:25 AM
the school how are they going to pay for this? Will there be a levy on the ballot to
finance the program?
336 what will it cost the average taxpayer Dec 9, 2010 3:29 AM
337 I had been a member of Splash Zone for several years but left there when we lost Dec 9, 2010 3:59 AM
two of the best aquatic instructors, Lendy Nally and Jana Fehlan. (Jana left to take
a job at Kingston. Since then I have taken classes with her at Kingston in
Vermilion because 1. she's very good and 2. it's closer to Amherst.)
338 I feel that our community is behind when it comes to facilities taht offer a variety of Dec 9, 2010 4:01 AM
activities for all ages we have been tomay cities when traveling for sports and
have seen many nice indoor and outdoor facilities we really need one in this
community
339 Some questions were so slanted, they weren`t worth attempting an answer Dec 9, 2010 4:17 AM
340 facility should be open to only residents who reside in amherst...not lorain...not Dec 9, 2010 4:42 AM
south amherst...not vermilion...not any other city...just like in brecksville

341 In 1994, there was an effort to get an auditorium built at the high school. The Dec 9, 2010 5:54 AM
funds were to come from private pledges and the remainder from a bond issue.
The committee secured over $1 million in pledges, but the voters turned down the
bond issue that would have cost them only pennies a day.
The Cleveland YMCA had several meetings in this area to determine the interest
and support for a new Y here in Amherst. They concluded that the Avon
community would be more supportive and built the Y there instead.
While I think this rec center is a great idea, it could be tough to generate enough
support to get a bond issue passed.
342 Have this on ballot seperate from schools, for it to pass and explain membership Dec 9, 2010 8:15 AM
to voters, and cost.
343 Have this as seperate from schools Dec 9, 2010 8:20 AM
344 Would make a nice facility. Amherst deserves this. Its a shame it happened in Dec 9, 2010 11:32 AM
Oberlin before Amherst.
345 Keep memberships affordable Dec 9, 2010 11:40 AM
346 The Amherst School District does not need to be involved in the project. They Dec 9, 2010 12:00 PM
have plenty of other facilities for this purpose. Raising our taxes at this time is
ridiculous but typical of the present school board.
347 Why does the school district need to be involved??? Dec 9, 2010 12:40 PM
348 Many other communities have these facilities, I think they are important to bring Dec 9, 2010 12:42 PM
community together and to keep the community physically fit
349 excellent idea, hope that it happens Dec 9, 2010 12:44 PM
350 Amherst needs this much more then a bigger Library I think....this would keep kids Dec 9, 2010 12:51 PM
off the streets and keep us older people healthier and keep business in
Amherst...where people now go out of town for most of these things.
351 I think this is a great idea that will add to the Amherst Community and make it an Dec 9, 2010 1:09 PM
even more positive place to live. I would recommend having lower rates for
Amherst Residents and slightly higher rates for people living outside of Amherst.
352 This would be a great asset to the City. We are very proud of the works the Metro Dec 9, 2010 1:20 PM
parks do. Thank
you for staying intune with the needs of the people.
353 I don't want to pay higher taxes - this will probly be open to others who don't pay Dec 9, 2010 1:25 PM
taxes at all -
354 I have some thought and very strong feelings on this matter, and have actually Dec 9, 2010 1:29 PM
talked with Dan Martin about such a faciltiy along with other board members
approximately two years ago. Would love to be involved heavily with this project.
355 Go for It! Wellness of the community as a whole is very important to the health Dec 9, 2010 1:46 PM
and well-being of all in decision-making, problem-solving, spiritually and through
service. This should lead to more people giving back to the community and
developing pride for it.
356 Amherst already has an outdoor pool which is why I didn't rate that as highly Dec 9, 2010 1:55 PM
needed.
357 Considering the economic environment today, I would rather see more efforts Dec 9, 2010 1:57 PM
being put forth to promote jobs and business growth. I would love to see a thing
such as a rec. center in better times, I just don't think this is the time to spend
money this way. I have my own exercise equipment at home and feel we should
each be responsible for taking care of ourselves. This should not be the expense
of our community when eating and putting a roof over our heads, and helping
others to do that should be our priority. Please note that in order to submit this
survey, I was forced to answer question 10 with something. I really don't think any
of those things is important at this time.

358 This is needed very badly. Travelling to Oberlin or to several away swim meets Dec 9, 2010 2:26 PM
because we dont have the facilities is a shame. Avon Lake, Rocky River, Bay
Village and Oberlin all have great facilities and Amherst is way behind. It would be
used year round and is really needed!
359 I am NOT supportive of any activity connected with the school system. Such Dec 9, 2010 2:32 PM
activities result in increased property taxes. Further, this particular activity has
little or nothing to do with education.
360 How is it being proposed to fund the building and then annual operation of? Dec 9, 2010 2:36 PM
361 i would really like to see an ice rink....my kids play hockey and at the HS level it is Dec 9, 2010 2:52 PM
unfair for the kids to be driving to the barons rink and te rink at elyria. More people
would come to there games, something for everyone to do that isindoors, plus the
huge amount of money the hockey team spends on ice would stay here in our
community. not to mention all the kids that go to open skate in elyria for
something to do. that is all money that could be kept close, and keep the kids off
the road in the winter.
362 I would really like to see this project finalized. It is a great idea! Dec 9, 2010 2:52 PM
363 don't let politics screw it up Dec 9, 2010 2:55 PM
If you can't build a first class facility then don't build anything.
ie "cafeterium" at high school
364 This would be great for Amherst as long as it doesn't skyrocket our taxes to be Dec 9, 2010 2:56 PM
paid for.
365 It would be even better if it could be linked to other businesses in the area, like the Dec 9, 2010 2:59 PM
Cleveland Clinic, to help balance the expenses.
366 I wish an ice skating facility would also be considered. Since there is already an Dec 9, 2010 3:10 PM
outdoor pool in Amherst, maybe a facility comparable to the one in Elyria at North
Park would be worth considering.
367 Best of luck. The community really needs this. Dec 9, 2010 3:19 PM
368 We have been waiting for this for years. Its a shame planning has taken this Dec 9, 2010 3:44 PM
long..Hurry cause we are ready!!!!!!!!
369 I don't live exactly in Amherst, but on the border and most of my time (and money) Dec 9, 2010 4:15 PM
is spent in Amherst.
370 an ice skating facility would also be a good thing to consider in the master plan Dec 9, 2010 4:23 PM
371 Strongly recommend implementing this in Amherst. We all would benefit from its Dec 9, 2010 4:23 PM
use as ther e are no faclities in the area
372 Go for it! Dec 9, 2010 4:39 PM
373 I think it would be wonderful to have a local place to be able to take the family or Dec 9, 2010 4:41 PM
fill safe about my teenager and others hanging out at. This really excites me!
374 If the propsed facility could be in a close proximity of down town, I feel that it Dec 9, 2010 4:46 PM
would get a larger turnout.
375 I think it would be a great asset to Amherst. It would draw more people here and Dec 9, 2010 4:46 PM
the swim team would actually have a "home field" to practice and play on, and
would be overall great for our community
376 I think this would be a huge plus for the city, I also would like to see a water type Dec 9, 2010 4:50 PM
park like splash zonehas, we got out there a few times a summer but it's a chore
to get to because of time constraints. Also ? 10 does not give you the ability to
answer all activities listed. I think it should. Thanks Doug George
377 This type of facility would be very welcome and much used by Amherst residents Dec 9, 2010 4:54 PM
and surrounding communities. Oberlin is too far to travel for many seniors. I am
positive that the Metroparks will do a good job with this type of facility.
378 Please do this! I've been wanting one since I went to Amherst for high school! Dec 9, 2010 4:57 PM

379 I think this is SO important for Amherst. The selection of gym's in the area is not Dec 9, 2010 5:08 PM
good. It would be nice if this facility offered daycare also. I had to cancel my
membership at an Amherst gym because the monthly cost plus daycare at the
gym was over 70$ per month for just myself!
Amherst would greatly benefit from this facility, especially since this is such a
sport oriented town.
380 Currently looking for a fitness club to join and would be happy to join one related Dec 9, 2010 5:25 PM
to the parks when available.
381 This will come down to money. Dec 9, 2010 5:58 PM
A lot of the original money for the current Splash Zone came from the Nord family.
382 Hope it gets done!! Dec 9, 2010 6:09 PM
383 waste of tax payer money Dec 9, 2010 6:24 PM
384 I have been to the Amherst meetings regarding just such projects. Amherst has Dec 9, 2010 6:25 PM
missed the boat on some great opportunities far to many times for what ever
reason. And again I'm not sure what the reason is, but people need to look past
today and think about what we can offer as a community. Some one made it
possible for you to have a good education and live in a good city. It is our turn now
as young families raising our own children. Let's all STEP UP!
My answer to #10 I would rank them all as #1. Thank you.
385 Westlake has a very nice facility and more than 50% of the residence are Dec 9, 2010 6:32 PM
members.
386 It certainly would be great to have a place that will fit all ages Dec 9, 2010 6:45 PM
387 My family would join right away. We have recently moved here miss our old city Dec 9, 2010 6:51 PM
because of the facilities it offered. This would greatly benefit the city of Amherst.
388 A recreational facility would be a huge success in Amherst. Right now, Amherst Dec 9, 2010 6:52 PM
residents have to go elsewhere to use such facilities. A parternership with the
Metro Parks would be perfect and is long overdue!
389 I think that this is a great idea. The Metro Parks know how to run their facilities. Dec 9, 2010 7:26 PM
390 If any money comes from the School District budget (Even in the future) I would Dec 9, 2010 7:35 PM
actively campaign against your proposal. We in the Amherst School District are
over taxed already, and the Administration is talking nonsense about putting more
levy's on the ballot.
391 wheel chair access and parking Dec 9, 2010 7:56 PM
392 Senior rates Dec 9, 2010 8:03 PM
393 I am looking forward to this kind of center in Amherst because I feel strongly that it Dec 9, 2010 8:19 PM
will not only benefit citizens of Amherst but possibly stretch across the Erie/Lorain
county line into Vermilion area.
394 Important to offer discounts to senior residents. Dec 9, 2010 8:28 PM
395 This would be great for the city of Amherst. Dec 9, 2010 9:41 PM
396 Will not support with Amherst Schools. Dec 9, 2010 10:03 PM
Will not support new taxes.
397 I would have definitely joined and participated in a facility like this when my Dec 9, 2010 10:48 PM
children were young.
398 It's about time this was put on the table! Wish one had been around during my Dec 9, 2010 11:15 PM
youth growing up in Amherst!
399 I support it Dec 9, 2010 11:57 PM
400 Amherst schools could use the money they would spend on this to do something Dec 10, 2010 12:44 AM
else.
401 To the Lorain County Metroparks people. How about a dog park???? Put it at Dec 10, 2010 2:47 AM
Beaver Creek Reservation. Thanks.

402 Besides talking to Amherst sports coaches - don't forget to consider asking the Dec 10, 2010 5:43 AM
Amherst Marching Band Directors how a "community rec center" could benefit
them -
403 this would be a great asset to amherst Dec 10, 2010 12:33 PM
404 amherst needs to continue to upgrade the level and quality of its town comparable Dec 10, 2010 2:31 PM
to other towns in the area if it wants to retain a property value and fully enjoy the
experience of living here, we have joined oberlin, too far, but it was well run., all
for this project! linda findley
405 I think this would be an excellent facility for Amherst. Amherst really needs this. Dec 10, 2010 3:10 PM
406 It must be self-sustaining in the cost of the operation. Members and users will Dec 10, 2010 3:29 PM
need to pay for it. It should not be a drain on the public purse. The building
should be modest to match a modest and frugal community.
It is very easy to say, "Sure, I'll take something for prospect of little cost." But
Amherst residents think twice, rightly so, when it comes time to pay the bill. Other
communities in Lorain County and any other entities, government or otherwise,
outside of Lorain County should not pay for our desire for a recreation facility.
One other thought on finances is that we should not take out debt to pay for this.
Survey the personal and community debt that already is sitting on the backs of
Amherst residents. Can they afford it?
407 There is no practical reason to tie this facility and it,s funding to the Amherst Dec 10, 2010 4:24 PM
School system. The school system has it's damn fingers in too many places they
don't belong. I,m all for a splashzone in Amherst, just not tied into and controlled
by the school system. This is just another way for the school board to screw
money from the citizen's pockets, when they're told NO on their levies. Enough is
enough for the money wasters at the school board. If this has to be tied to the
school board, I'll just make the drive to Oberlin.
408 I would like to say that this is pretty important to the community. Since the United Dec 10, 2010 4:52 PM
States has a problem with being overweight, this recreational center would allow
for many civilians get active as well as keeping teens in shape. This would also be
very beneficial to out of season athletes as they would have a local place to go
where training could be completed.
409 It is an issue that has exceeded it time to think about it is time to act. We need Dec 10, 2010 5:33 PM
this in this city to give a boost to the wellness of all of us.
410 I adore the metroparks and feel fortunate to be able to enjoy the wonderful events Dec 10, 2010 6:49 PM
that the parks have to offer young and old. I trust the metroparks to be an
AWESOME partner with the schools on this endeavor. I hope this will come to
fruition.
411 DO Not DO IT If I want it I will join one of the private enterprises, not a Dec 10, 2010 7:14 PM
government facility. To allow government to build a facility that competes with
private enterprise is illegal in some states
412 Bravo, I think it is a great idea! I hope it comes to fruition. Dec 10, 2010 7:46 PM
413 This is a fantastic idea!!! It would help with home values, too. Dec 10, 2010 9:40 PM
414 Wonderful idea for the city of Amherst!!! Dec 10, 2010 10:49 PM
415 I would love a center like Splash Zone closer to my house. I do not think it should Dec 10, 2010 11:51 PM
be connected to any school district - especially Amherst. I think if you were to
collaborate with Amherst Schools, it would be primarily used by the families within
that district and other people in the community and surrounding communities
would not feel as welcomed or as free to use the facility.
416 With the economy being what it is, any project that would raise taxes is not good Dec 11, 2010 12:13 AM
417 We really need this. Would be great to have a stage or performance hall for Dec 11, 2010 2:07 AM
community events, meetings, concerts, speakers.
418 A seperate area for senior citizens where one can both congregate and exercise Dec 11, 2010 11:01 AM
101 of&104
would be nice. We also have a 3 yr old grandson look forward to swim classes
etc for him as well.

419 If this is truly a Lorain County facility then give EVERYONE in Lorain County a Dec 11, 2010 11:56 AM
price break on the fees....not just the city it is located in. Bottom line...make it fair.
Also, hold more classes in the evening,,, I work in the Cleveland Metro area and
by the time I get home....all of the classes are done.
420 get the land quickly!!!! Dec 11, 2010 12:02 PM
421 Just stop spending money you don't have. it is easy to come up with ideas on Dec 11, 2010 12:24 PM
how to spend our money. Enough
422 You would have my vote and my wife vote Dec 11, 2010 12:42 PM
423 We really need a fitness center that children under the age of 18 can use. There Dec 11, 2010 12:47 PM
are no city fitness centers here that allow children to use equipment even with an
adult. An indoor pool facility and walking track are also needed for young people
and senior citizens. If your child isn't in a high school sport, it is difficult to find a
place for him or her to go to exercise.
424 This is a very important and worthy joint venture. Please do not give up on it. Dec 11, 2010 1:29 PM
Thank you for trying to make this happen!
425 Amherst desperately needs a rec center. Too many kids are just "hanging out" on Dec 11, 2010 1:29 PM
the streets or in their homes playing video games. We need to keep the kids busy
and active, in addition to keeping all of our residents fit. A rec center would be a
great addition to our city.
426 metroparks should make what they currently have better and not try to rule the Dec 11, 2010 1:44 PM
county...
427 Please make the rec center membership available to Lorain City employees that Dec 11, 2010 1:50 PM
work in Amherst I would love to join with my family and get a discounted rate
since I pay taxes for working in Amherst , we live right at the border of Lorain and
Amherst near the Walmart/Home Depot area
428 I would hope the Amherst Splash zone would be more user friendly than Oberlins. Dec 11, 2010 2:13 PM
It seemed like after they figured out the demand was high for its use they opened
later and all the member ship and swim meet fees went sky high. The workers ot
the front desk arent very friendly or helpful if they are there at all.
429 This rec center is long overdue. People who live in Amherst now go to Splash Dec 11, 2010 2:17 PM
Zone in Oberlin, or the Y
in Sheffield or swim at Kingston in Vermilion. The partnership with the Metro
Parks is ideal and can work.
430 I grew up in Lorain which had a YMCA and I spent a great deal of time in my Dec 11, 2010 2:48 PM
youth at the YMCA. Kid's do not have those oppportunities and it is shame
nothing has been done to this point in Amherst. These kids need things to do--get
off the computers and interact with real human being so they have a clue about
how to handle real world problems.
Sincerely,

431 Why does it only have to be affiliated with Amherst Schools. Why can't Lorain Dec 11, 2010 3:09 PM
Schools be a part of this and find a neutral area?
432 I believe a facility of this type is needed in this area as the Oberlin Splash zone is Dec 11, 2010 3:12 PM
becoming very crowded. It is important to have a locker room and showers large
enough for all to utilize.
433 Great Idea!! Dec 11, 2010 3:37 PM
434 It's about time - it's long overdue! Dec 11, 2010 3:47 PM

436 We can't afford this at this time. Why should everyone pay for the few who will use Dec 11, 2010 4:39 PM
it. What will the fee be to use? Splashzone is 600.00 per year - a little too steep
for middle income level families! How much will my taxes increase, not only for
the schools but will the metroparks put a levy on? Will we be charged 2x for this in
taxes plus have to pay a yearly fee?
437 the metroparks are doing a great job at lakeview park, and i think they would do a Dec 11, 2010 4:53 PM
great job on a recreation center
438 Make it a facility every age group can use and the residents of Amherst would be Dec 11, 2010 6:05 PM
proud of.
439 Now is not the time to be spending funds to build a recreation center anywhere Dec 11, 2010 7:37 PM
440 I think this would be great for Amherst, our family has used the splash zone in Dec 11, 2010 9:30 PM
Oberlin and loved it, we have always said, if that facility was in Amherst it would
be great! I personally think that this facility would get 3 to 5 times the use of the
splash zone in Oberlin. Out of all the communities in lorain county, I think the
Metroparks and the city of Amherst would be a partnership made in heaven!!!
GOOD LUCK
441 I am so excited to hear about this! I would hope that the membership costs are Dec 11, 2010 11:12 PM
low. I stopped going to Splash Zone when the prices were raised. A discount for
those that live here in Amherst would be awesome.
442 With Amherst having alot of senior citizens, I think this would be a safe place for Dec 11, 2010 11:59 PM
them to get together...
443 Best of luck Dec 12, 2010 12:26 AM
444 the metorparks does a wonderful job with all of their parks and facilities and Dec 12, 2010 12:39 AM
whatever they do will be an asset to the city
445 It would be great to participate in our community instead of having to travel to Dec 12, 2010 2:15 AM
other cities
446 will not vote for this project.....if people want to belong to a fitness club let them Dec 12, 2010 8:30 AM
pay to belong to a private club...
447 will not vote to support this project...waste of tax payer money Dec 12, 2010 8:33 AM
448 I think this area is in desperate need of a good, affordable recreation center. If Dec 12, 2010 9:31 AM
there is any way to make it so that people who live outside of Amherst don;t have
to pay more, that would be wonderful; also, please have programs that are open
to non-members!
449 As long as this does not increase our property taxes, Dec 12, 2010 1:52 PM
450 This is would be a very exciting addition to Amherst. I voted NO on the Library Dec 12, 2010 3:55 PM
Remodel because I feel we need this Rec Center more. I was afraid if the library
passed people would vote down the rec center because they wouldn't want to pay
more in taxes.
451 It would be nice to have a private room (s) for graduation, anniversary, birthday Dec 12, 2010 5:44 PM
parties with a kitchen area for set up and cleanup.
452 All for it. Dec 12, 2010 5:56 PM
I do not understand the intent of question 6 above so I answered no.
453 It is the wrong time to be asking for more tax money. Dec 12, 2010 9:05 PM
454 This would be a wonderful addition to Amherst. Please get it done. Dec 12, 2010 10:45 PM
455 I feel a recreational center should be built in Amherst because it would benefit our Dec 12, 2010 10:50 PM
sports teams to let them have some where to work all year in and to continually
become stronger athletes. Also I feel having a swimming pool and a separate
diving pool would help the swim team become better year round and gain divers
that would help the team win more meets. The track team would love having an
indoor track to work with in the winter and possibly summer/spring too. The soccer
team would love to have an indoor turf field to work with in the winter and as well
as the cold days in the fall. Baseball&softball can benefit from the turf also. Thank
you for considering this. 103 of 104

456 It would be very nice to have some where to go to keep in shape throughout the Dec 12, 2010 10:59 PM
winter/fall. The sport teams would greatly enjoy having some where to go work out
and hang with friends while doing so. The citizens of Amherst would greatly
appreciate having this great opportunity to have Recreational Center. Thank you
for considering this in the city of Amherst.
457 I think it would be great to have a facility such as this near home. Dec 13, 2010 12:24 AM
458 Amherst needs this for all ages. Dec 13, 2010 12:32 AM
459 Very important for Amherst Dec 13, 2010 12:44 AM
460 I have been debating a membership to Splash Zone. I would love to join, but it's Dec 13, 2010 12:53 AM
far from our home. A similar place in Amherst would be awesome!
461 I am a former resident of Brecksville and used the rec center frequently. I would Dec 13, 2010 1:49 AM
encourage you to review Brecksville's facility for ideas for Amherst (and items that
require improvements too). I think methods for maintaining the facility also need
to be carefully explored, such as limiting the number of members (e.g., Amherst
residents only, non-Amherst residents being admitted only as guests of Amherst
residents, and non-Amherst residents paying a higher fee) and ensuring the
budget will sustain regular improvements.
462 Don't need a recreation site. Our taxes would go up--don't need that with the Dec 13, 2010 2:07 AM
economy.
463 I would be thrilled if this happened! Dec 13, 2010 2:10 AM
464 EMH in Avon and Avon YMCA would be good facilities to mimic Dec 13, 2010 3:28 AM
465 Would prefer to leave the schools out of it. Dec 13, 2010 4:26 AM
466 You initially asked if a person has a current membership then If they were 60 or Dec 13, 2010 5:44 AM
older what they wanted, What about if I have ever had memberships to those
other places. Previous Splash Zone -Yes, EMH Health Center Avon -Yes
including Cardiac Rehab. Amherst Pools -Yes Summer Membership, Maybe a few
Doctor offices that would help to pay rent and allow a doctor on site for
emergencies. I would hope this facility is bigger and different then Splash Zone.
more meeting and work out rooms maybe on the second floor that would over
look the pool and gym areas, Of course if a new building geothermo heating and
some solar panels for heating buildging and pool water. Splash Zone facility is
limited to pool and a small work out room. A mutifunctional facility would be a
welcome. addition. More Like the EMH -Avon Location with mutiple meeting
rooms, Local Massage Therapist would have various times at this location that
would help them as well as at their current location. A small Food/ Juice/ Coffee
Bar area. Some times after a workout I would need something including a protien
or juice drink and something to munch on. Especially if the person (older) is
diabetic. they may need something quick. I figure you will have Vending
Machines, However, they never seem to work right when you really need
something. this includes my experence at Splash Zone. Different groups could
work the Bar area making sells for area fund raising (like Swim Teams).groups. I
have other ideas from experience using these facilities. please feel free to call me
for some other suggestions Donley Fisher 440-864-5617 cell. Thanks
467 I would wholeheartedly support this project!!! I'd also recommend integrating Dec 13, 2010 7:42 AM
outdoor sporting opportunities as well for youth/adults (e.g., archery range, 3D
archery target course, hunting/fishing, etc.)
468 Cost, of course, will be a factor. Would like to know what other Dec 13, 2010 12:49 PM
businesses/services would be affected i.e. independent gyms, dance schools, etc.
469 Amherst is a great community and it needs something like this keep the quality of Dec 13, 2010 1:38 PM
living elevated.
Since there are already private fitness clubs in the area, the membership for the
rec center should be tiered so that the fitness area, pool and gymnasium are
separate.
