Dear Mr. Encarnacion:

I am a third-year law student at San Beda University (SBU) and am writing to apply as a legal
intern for your apprenticeship program. I learned about your organization through word of mouth
from San Beda law students who also expressed their interest in applying as an intern at your
firm. From what I have gathered, your firm offers the best experience in terms of legal work and
practice. Naturally, I am deeply compelled by your reputation and it makes me want to learn
more about your organization and experience all of them myself.

My curiosity and interest in your office do not simply stop at stale admiration. I will not merely
reap the fruits that I will be able to amass from your firm, but I will also impart my skills as an
excellent researcher and as an insightful writer. As a senior at the University of the Philippines,
Los Baños, I wrote an honors thesis on the communication patterns in the decision-making
process of a game called Dota 2. This landed me the title of “Best Thesis” among the College of
Arts and Sciences. Thus, my skills range from writing to researching, proofreading, and analysis.

My experiences in law school are not so different from my undergraduate background. As a

junior in SBU, I have participated in various moot court competitions, one of which is the
International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition. I drafted memorials and was also a
speaker in said competitions. For this semester, I am currently a writer-editor for the SBU Law
journal. In the aspect of academics, I especially find interest in Intellectual Property Law.

Having learned that your organization specializes in Intellectual Property, I realized that this will
be a great opportunity for me to further cultivate my knowledge on the subject itself. I yearn to
understand how our country actually practices the Law on Intellectual Property and I firmly
believe that your office will be the best candidate for helping me to reach that goal. One other
specialty of yours which I would like to experience and be enlightened on is that of Advertising,
Media and Entertainment. I know little about the practice of law therein. Hence, as an inquisitive
law student, I desire to learn the key aspects and manner of practicing law in said field.

I have enclosed a resume highlighting my skills, experience, and background together with a
transcript of grades. I am excited about the possibility of speaking with you further about this
