Introduce yourself

Good morning ladies and gentlemen, I am (Mohammed aljabri) today I will talk about Islamic
work ethics in general and more specifically in workplaces.

OUTLINE
Before addressing the outlines of this presentation ,I would like to ask if you think that
Islamic work ethics has a strong influence on the profit of the organization. Firstly, I look
forward to define Islamic Religion , then I will define Islamic work ethics, moreover I will
focus on how work ethics are supported by Quran and Sunnah. As well as I will
compare between islam and other religions from work ethics point of view, in addition, I
will speak about the advantages of Islamic ethics on Muslims. In addition to the Impact
of Islamic ethics on Business, finally. Giving the audience Islamic Ethical Guidelines

Islamic Religion
Islam is one of the most famous religions in the world and many people enter Islam every year,
In Islam, a useful work is considered as a part of religious duties (Journal of Islamic Business and
Management). Islam provides a lot of principles and values that are presumed to be universal
and applicable to every aspect of life, Islamic ethical values encapsulate dimensions of human
life (J Bus Ethics (2015), when one has a close relationship with God, one's attitudes and
behaviors would tend to be consistent with the rules and stipulations of the religion including
work within an organization, Islam always teaches morals and good deeds. Religion provides the
base to economic, (Pak J Commer Soc Sci).primary sources are the Quran and the Sunna
(examples set by Prophet Muhammad) while the other two are consensus of scholars (Ijmaa’)
and analogy (Qiyaas) ,(Procedia Economics and Finance).

Different definitions of Islamic work ethics

there are many definition but I choose Three of them, first is the Islamic work ethics (IWE) which
constitutes Islam's expectations with respect to one's behavior at work which includes his or her
effort, dedication, cooperation, responsibility, social relations and creativity. The second
definition is: believed to reflect an individual’s attitudes toward various aspects of work,
including preference for activity and involvement, attitudes toward monetary and non-monetary
rewards The third definition is : In a broader perspective ethics tells us the right and wrong
conduct and whats good for life, is one of the major branches of philosophy .( J Bus
Ethics (2015)) Islamic work ethics is based on the conduct of the individual ((Pak J
Commer Soc Sci)
The role of Quran and Sunnah in supporting Islamic work ethics

•The concept of the Islamic work ethic originates from Quran, the sayings and practices of
Prophet Muhammad. For example `"no one eats better than that which he eats out of his
work''. (J Bus Ethics (20 15)) , that few words encourage hard working and shows the best way
to earn money ethically. Allah says, ‘‘verily those who hide that which we have sent down of
evidence and the guidance, after we have expounded it unto mankind in the Book, these!—they
are the ones cursed by Allah and cursed by the curser (Quran, 2:159).’’ This suggests that Islam
prohibits knowledge hiding and encourages knowledge sharing and dissemination. (The
International Journal of Organizational Innovation).Quran says ‘‘and he who does righteous
deeds and he is a believer, he will neither have fear of injustice nor deprivation’ (J Bus Ethics
(2015). moreover, Quran says ‘‘for all people, there are ranks according to their deeds’’ (J Bus
Ethics (2015)

Similarity and difference between Islam and Other Religions

Both IWE and PWE mainly focus on cooperation, commitment, dedication to work, and
avoidance of wealth accumulation through unethical means (Khan et al. 2013). However, in
contrast to the PWE, the IWE puts more emphasis on intentions than on results.

Advantages of Islamic Ethical on Muslim people

Islamic work ethics has the potential to give positive energy to the performance of employees,
because of the beliefs of Islamic teachings and values. in additional, Realizing vision, maintaining
stability. Work commitment, encouraging employees to survive as members of the organization.
Consequently, it is more likely that those who believe in Islam and practice it tend to be more
committed to their organizations and presumably more satisfied with their jobs( Academy of
Strategic Management Journal) .Thus, Islam encourages hard work and highly discourages
laziness and wasting time by remaining idle or engaging oneself in unproductive activities(J Bus
Ethics (2015).Generates value and, ultimately, increases profit for the organization both in terms
of finances and better corporate social image. (Pak J Commer Soc Sci).So we can argue that
employees who are having a high level of IWE will respond positively towards the job outcomes
such as job satisfaction. They will consider the stressors as an opportunity and will consider their
jobs as a virtue. (Journal of Islamic Business and Management)

Impact of Islamic Ethic on Business

•Islam effectively controlled corruption in organizations he abuse of entrusted power for private
benefit” is a major reason behind the corruption which leads to the failure to design and shape
an ethical business conducts for the public, private and corporate sector organizations. Many
employees tend to leave organizations due to the absence of justice in the firms, Islam ordered
everyone to make justice when making decisions, moreover Studied the effects of the IWE on
turnover intentions, job satisfaction, and job involvement. They found that the IWE was
positively related to job satisfaction and job involvement, and negatively related to turnover
intentions these authors found that the IWE was positively related to employees’ loyalty to their
organization, colleagues, and supervisor. High on IWE will be able to buffer against the absence
of organizational fairness. (J Bus Ethics (2015).

Islamic Ethical Guidelines

 Life without work has no meaning and engagement in economic activities is an

obligation. Thus, it emphasizes on cooperation at work and consultation as a source
