INFLUENCE OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS TO COLLEGE CAREER CHOICES

OF ACLC GRADE 12 STUDENTS

(The researchers are conducting a survey to find out the Influence of Socio-Economic Status to

College Career Choices of ACLC Grade 12 Students. You are requested to provide your free and

Statement of the Problem

This investigation aims to find out the influence of socio-economic status to college

career choices of ACLC Grade 12 Students specifically, this will answer the following

questions:

1. How do these economic statuses influence college career choice?

2. Which economic status has the highest percentage that affect the students the

most?

3. What are the appropriate college career choices for each economic status?

Scopes and Delimitations

The purpose of this study is to investigate the facts involving the influence of socio-

economic status to college career choices of ACLC Grade 12 Students. And it shall only be

focused on one school named ‘ACLC College of Ormoc’ and its grade 12 students. For which

we only started on July 19, 2019 and it is said to due on July 26, 2019. This study is available for

any gender as long as it’s part of the Grade 12 ACLC Association.

Framework of the study

I. Theoretical Framework
The sociologist Max Weber (1958) conceptualized inequality along three related tracks,

class, status, and party. Each was understood as a basis for power and influence. Whereas class

focused on economic resources and partly referred to political clout, status was understood as

honor and prestige. For Weber, status groups were hierarchically arrayed on the basis of

distinctive lifestyles, consumption patterns, and modes of conduct or action.

Research Locale

The study was conducted during the school year 2019 – 2020 within the school ACLC

College of Ormoc located Brgy. Cogon, Lilia Avenue, Ormoc City, Leyte, Philippines.

Respondents

The respondents of the study were the Grade 12 senior high school students who were

officially enrolled in the school year 2019-2020, it is accessible to all ages and gender as long as

they are part of the Grade 12 senior high school students in ACLC College of Ormoc located in

Brgy. Cogon, Lilia Avenue, Ormoc City, Leyte, Philippines. The researchers oriented the

respondents to their role in this research and were given time to answer their questionnaires

which we gave. The questionnaire given to the grade 12 students aimed to assess their

knowledge about the factors that affect in choosing their college course. There were 20 student-

respondents for each strand.

Sampling Technique

Purposive sampling, also known as judgmental, selective, or subjective sampling, is a

form of non-probability sampling in which researchers rely on their own judgment when

choosing members of the population to participate in their study.


This sampling method requires researchers to have prior knowledge about the purpose of

their studies so that they can properly choose and approach eligible participants.

Data Analysis

Once the survey questionnaires are approved and validated, the researchers will ask

permission to those students who are available to take part in the survey. Where the participants

are solely based on the ACLC Grade 12 Students in Ormoc located in the ACLC Building. The

interview would be recorded by the researchers.

Step 1. Familiarization and Transcription. The researchers would familiarize

themselves with the survey results to understand further what the respondent’s answers

are.

Step 2. Identifying important data. The researchers would carefully analyze the most

valuable data. These are phrases that directly answers the investigated issue.

Step 3. Formulating Meanings. The researchers would solely analyze the data and

give generalizations on statements that give the same meaning.

Step 4. Clustering themes. The researchers will write an inclusive description,

describing the produced generalization.

Step 5. The researchers will summarize the overall description so there will be a

fundamental structure.
