THE MISSION OF GOD
A
Barna Research study found that only 17% of people
who attend church knew what the Great Commission
is. Does that surprise you? How can we, as believers,
ONLY 17%
obey the mission of God if we don’t know what that mission is?
In today’s post-modern world, many people believe that
evangelism simply no longer works. But here, at Evangelism
Explosion International, we have seen millions of lives
changed for eternity because believers stepped out and
of churchgoers know shared their faith. That propels us to keep moving forward
and, by God’s grace, to continue furthering His mission.
Friends, we are not finished until every believer
knows how to share their faith. Our vision, “every

age group to witness to every person,” can only
be realized through the local Church in every
nation on earth. That is why we have decided
to focus on three areas to encourage this to
happen.

We must REVITALIZE our ministry here in the United
States, so that we can assist the Church to accept her call to
share the Gospel.
We must ENGAGE the next generation to pick up the
baton and continue to further the Kingdom of God.
We must MOBILIZE ministry within every nation on
earth to finish the task God has called us to do.
Every year, we get closer to seeing the Great Commission
completed. The ratio of believers to non-believers continues
to narrow. But each of us needs to do our part.

ocated just outside of Dallas, Texas, Church on the Hill
in Mesquite, didn’t have a lot of money and had never
organized a missions trip, but they had a heart to reach
their community for Jesus Christ.
When John Lay became the pastor in 2017, he believed
the congregation of about 60 attendees had potential. He
had been introduced to Evangelism Explosion as a new
believer and had used EE at various churches. He needed to
find a way to integrate it in Mesquite.
SMALL CHURCH BECOMES A BEACON OF LIGHT
“If everyone in my flock could learn how to share their
faith, study the Bible, and learn how to pray, I figured I was
doing my job as a pastor,” said Lay.
Lay hand-picked four individuals to train as EE trainers.
The next year, ten people signed up for the church’s first
official EE semester. In 2019, the church completed its fourth
semester and trained one-third of the entire congregation in
EE. During that time, 44 people joined the church—22 were
baptized as new believers.

But the church’s direction broadened last summer when
they hosted an Equip America event in their city. The pastors
who attended were excited to see first-hand an evangelistic
model that could work in their community. But they needed
to learn how.
Within a few months, Church on the Hill introduced EE
tools to these new churches and trained them how to follow
up with the people they meet, getting them involved in Bible
study and prayer.
The congregation at Church on the Hill was excited and
wanted to do more. In October, they traveled to Houston to
assist with another Equip America event. In 2020, they plan to
hold their very first domestic missions trip to Tucson, Arizona,

said Lay. “We’re not done until every person knows how to
share the Gospel or Jesus returns.”

REACHING THE WORLD IN THE U.S.

pour into the United States, we
are faced with new and amazing
opportunities to share the Gospel of
Jesus Christ.
This year, the churches that have
reached out to EE are more diverse than
ever before. Out of the 100 new churches
that started EE in 2019, 28 were Hispanic,
21 were Korean, one was Chinese, and
one was Burmese. Less than 50% of all
new churches spoke English as their first
language. These churches want to reach
Awaken churches. Change cities. Transform culture.

ne year ago, Bianca had no
idea what career she wanted
to pursue. But she did know
one thing: she wanted her life to
matter for the sake of Jesus.
Last summer, Bianca took a step of faith. She left her
home in Florida to spend six weeks in Nadi, Fiji, at a summer

internship program called EE ChangeMakers. During that
time, she felt God confirm His call on her life: to take the Good
News to the ends of the earth.
“I think there is something so powerful about the fact
that God can use anyone,” said Bianca. She will spend the next
two years serving with the EE team in the USA.
Through EE ChangeMakers, Evangelism Explosion is
building a global team of young adults who will change the
world by making Jesus known. EE kicked off the very first EE

ChangeMakers training program in Fiji in June and July with
eight interns from three different countries. These students
learned about EE’s training tools and the various ministries
that EE has around the world.
They also had the opportunity to put these training tools
into practice by sharing the Gospel and training others in
the local community. During the program, students trained

29 people how to share the Gospel, and they introduced 31
people to a relationship with Jesus Christ!
“I joined EE ChangeMakers to pursue God and to discover
his call on my life,” said Maddie, another young woman who
participated in the internship. She found not only a passion
for Christ, but for seeing the lost come to know Him as well.

CHILDREN POINT THE WAY TO CHRIST

Hope for Kids is a partnership with Kids EE, One Hope, and The Mailbox Club. Children grow in their faith and learn how to share it
with others. Here are a few stories of children around the world whose lives were recently changed through Hope for Kids.

BURUNDI : : Although Clovis was born to a Christian family,
he was angry, bitter, and lonely. He avoided church because
he “loved his loneliness.” One day, his older brother, a Hope
for Kids trainer, shared the Gospel with him. Clovis prayed to
receive Jesus, and everything changed. He became obedient
and happy, and he began to enjoy being around other
children.
HONDURAS : : Lizzy attended Hope for Kids as part of
MEXICO : : Alfredo likes to attend church even though his
family is not Christian. He showed an interest in learning
more about God at Hope for Kids. He was always one of the
first kids to learn the lesson and finish the crafts. His teacher
says that he now shares the Gospel without shame and puts
into practice what he learns in Hope for Kids.”

E
very three years, Evangelism Explosion holds
an international Congress of Nations, where all
multiplying nations can gather to celebrate successes,
learn from each other, and plan for the future. But one of the
most critical aspects of our Congress is how it reminds each
of our nations that they are not alone.
The nation of Bolivia joined the Congress for the first
time this year and in record time: only eighteen months—

three years earlier than projected. Among their team were
two of the youngest delegates at the Congress. Magiel (23)
shared with us that she sometimes feels overwhelmed with
the difficulties of doing her job as a field worker.
“In some ways, I feel like I’m drowning in a glass of water,”
said Magiel. “At the Congress, I saw the challenges that
other countries have, and I realized that we have so many
opportunities in our country. My road blocks are nothing. I
now feel that anything is possible with God!”

from churches in other cities across the country.
Kristiane, who also joined Magiel at the Congress, is
excited about the future ministry in Bolivia. “At the Congress,
I learned the value of teamwork,” she said. “Our teamwork
needs to grow not only within our nation, but so we can help
other countries grow as well.” EE Bolivia plans to work with
EE-USA to help other nations like Peru grow and reach their
status as a multiplying nation.
Partnership is what the Congress of Nations is all about.
Michal Krchnak, National Director of EE Czech Republic, was
thrilled to be inducted this year as a multiplying nation.
“I was very glad that I was not alone at the Congress. Also,
now I know that I will not be alone as we implement what we
learned.”

A LOOK AHEAD
T
his year, Evangelism Explosion is partnering with
Global Outreach Day to help every believer be what
God called them to be: a witness. The goal: challenge
100,000 believers to share their faith with ten people during
the month of May. That means, ONE BILLION people will
hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ in just one month.
This is an incredible vision, but many believers do not
share their faith simply because they don’t know how.
ON THE HORIZON : : GO2020
This is where Evangelism Explosion steps in. We
developed a free online course in English and Spanish that
will walk believers through how to share the Gospel with their
families, friends, co-workers, and neighbors. We encourage
participants to go through the class together with other
believers in their church or community, and EE trainers have
the option to moderate the course with participants from
their own church.

The course is completed in five short segments:

v Sharing the Gospel

v Beginning in Discipleship
In each section, a video explains how participants can
get started sharing the Gospel right where they are in their
