7:00am- Took over shift. Treatment of syrup for the production of Demerara Specialty sugar in progress
with both syrup clarifiers.
7:30am- Mechanics swing the blind flange for the A2 evaporator calandria.
8:00am to 9:30am- The boiling house sump pump was isolated to have works done on the effluent line.
Welder repaired 4 leaks on the effluent line over the main drain.
8:00am to 9:15am- Mechanics closed the manhole doors for the A3 & A4 evaporator. They also cleaned
and flushed the syrup pot and strainer for the A4 evaporator.
10:00am- Day work E/I technician worked on instrument of the vacuum pan no.5 that indicates vacuum.
10:10am- Reinstated the B2 evaporator and isolated the B1 evaporator for chemical and mechanical
cleaning of tubes.
10:15am to 1:15pm- Welder replaced and weld a piece of pipe on the caldaria of the A3 evaporator.
10:25am to 11:45am- E/I technician replaced a gasket for chute of the 1 ton metal detector. It did not
affect production since sugar was not being bagged from the bin on the 1 ton side.
12:30pm to 1:10pm- No.5 vacuum pan was put back in operation and only acquired vacuum of 19inches.
E/I technician on shift was called to check/inspect instruments around the pan. Found a ball valve that
was almost closed on the vacuum indicator line. It was opened and the vacuum went up to 26 inches.
1:00pm to 1:30pm- North tekleen was taken out of operation and cleaned by the shift mechanics. Was
then put back in operation and E/I technician changed over the gauges and hoses from the south
tekleen to the north tekleen.
2:00pm-A total of 492 bags of CARICOM brown sugar was bagged during this shift. 1 bag rejected due to
being damaged by packaging conveyor.
Started curing the no.797 B Demerara sugar sending it to the no.1 silo.
Strike no.798 B Demerara sent to bulk store due to poor purging. Purity was too low. 70.62.
Strike no.799 being cured and sent to the bin. Purity was 71.43.
