Crop Day No.

96 March 18, 2019 3-11 Shift Logs

3:00- Took over shift. Both syrup clarifiers are in operation.

“B” 799 from #7 receiver was being cured and sent to the #2 silo. This sugar had 38 mg/kg of insoluble.
Hence the DC analyst gave the ok for it to be sent.

#4 silo (“B” 797) was being sent to the bin for bagging as 1 ton demerara after having been conditioned
for 4 hours.

Cleaned the west sweco and put back in operation since the screen is ok. The amount of bagacillo was
less than yesterday when cleaning.

Mud filters 5 and 6 are in operation with the mud level at 0% in the SRI. The bagacillo system is not
being used.

The north tekleen filter is being used for the west buffer tank’s treated syrup.

Topped up the chiller water tank and pumped out water from the horizontal dryer outlet well and from
the sump in front of the conditioning area.

Kathabar is being used to condition the sugars.

4:40- Stopped the east syrup clarifier due to low raw syrup available. Only able to keep one of them
running.

A4 has some tubes on the calandria that need to expand but the expander isn’t good. They will need to
be removed and blinded.

A2 hydro- blasting had been completed and the vessel was closed and mechanics swung the blind.
Vessel was later body tested and found to be ok.

5:20- “B” 800 from #6 receiver was being cured and sent to the bin for bagging after the DC analyst gave
the ok. Insoluble test resulted at 49 mg/kg.

7:00- Reinstated A2 evaporator and isolated B3 evaporator for cleaning.

7:55- “B” 801 from #7 receiver showed presence of caramel in the sugar when taken to laboratory for
analysis. Because of this, it was decided to stop curing this strike and check the one from #6 receiver.

8:30- “B” 802 from #6 receiver showed presence of caramel in the sugar also when taken to laboratory
for analysis. Therefore it was decided to send both strikes to bin for bagging as caricom sugar. Started by
sending this one from #6 receiver.

8:30- Completed the boiling of caustic soda from B1 evaporator. Returned the soda and rinsed for it to
be hydro- blasted in the morning. B3 was liquidated and rinsed after. Remains to be filled with caustic
soda to boil.

Adjusted the damper opening throughout the shift in order to get the desired temperature. Presently it
is at 50%.
Bagged a total of 41 bags of 1 ton demerara during our shift. No metal detection was experienced.
Rejected 3 bags as a means of purging when started to bag from the #4 silo.

Only #2 silo has a strike at the moment (“B” 799).

The averages of ph are as follows: mixed juice- 5.6, Lime juice- 7.65, clarified juice- 7.1, raw syrup- 6.35,
treated syrup- 6.05 and filtrate- 7.5.
