Caring for sick person over a long period is hard work and requires a good stamina,so you
must look after your own health. It is all too easy to become so involved with the invalid’s need that
you forget about your own. Anxiety and tiredness appetite may reduce your appetite and encourage
you to snatch snacks, instead of eating a well balanced diet. It is important that you are well
nourished. You also need plenty of rest and sleep. Take advantage of any times that sick person rest
or sleep to do your self. Try to get out into the fresh air and take some exercise at least once a day. If
you are tired and harrased, you become prone to illness and infection, cought from visitor or the sick
room, and you will also become less able to cope. Take good care of your self . It is in the sick
person’s best interest as well as your own.
Keep in touch with friends and if you can’t get out to see them, invite them over to see you, keep up
nwith interest and hobbies,if you can, this is particularly important if the sick person’s is terminal,as
