Integrated approach, cross-disciplinary expertise

Our approach to sand control screens involves a multidisciplinary
approach with integrated processes that combine reservoir engineer-
ing, completion design, wellbore preparation, and filtercake removal.
This approach helps ensure a highly productive, trouble-free well.

Industry-leading design and manufacturing

Schlumberger quality management systems ensure that we continually
improve the flexibility, efficiency, and quality of our facilities. Our
progressive manufacturing processes and proprietary manufacturing
techniques allow us to produce the most robust line of fit-for-purpose
screens.

Broadest range of screen technology

Schlumberger offers the industry’s broadest range of sand screen
technology for both production and injection well applications, giving
you the versatility to complete even the most challenging types of
intervals for optimal production.

precautions.

This unprecedented level of robustness is achieved through the

unique Schlumberger manufacturing process. Screen components
are welded together, but there is no welding between the screen and
basepipe. This feature, combined with a unique perforation pattern,
ensures that the screen basepipe is not weakened during manufactur-
ing. In fact, extensive testing has shown that the tension, compres-
sion, and torque ratings of the screen are the same as those of the
basepipe.

A successful completion also requires slot consistency to maintain full

sand control. Our proprietary manufacturing process uses engineered
wrapping wire along with a unique QC system that measures the
accuracy of every single slot. When a direct wire-wrapped screen
arrives on your site, you can be sure it will perform as designed.

Wire-wrapped screens—simple, durable, and cost-effective

Extractor* wire-wrapped screens allow complete customization
to provide efficient sand control across a full range of specific well
applications. These screens feature an exclusive slip-ring design that
isolates the wire-wrapped jacket from tension, compression, and
torque loads. The assembly can be outfitted with a protective shroud
for stand-alone applications. These features provide outstanding
durability and erosion resistance for a screen that cannot be plugged
by fines or produced solids.

Premium sintered mesh screens—durable in harsh environments

Severe openhole production environments call for a screen that can de-
liver reliable sand-control performance long term. Assure™ and Endure*
premium sintered mesh screens are designed to do just that, in both
stand-alone and gravel-pack applications.

Multiple layers of woven-wire mesh are sintered to form a resilient

filter that ensures weld integrity and mechanical stability. This enables
our premium sintered mesh screens to maintain their strength during
installation without altering the filter pore openings. The screens are
engineered to optimize the number of basepipe perforations, and the
inner drainage layer and high-flow shroud evenly distribute the flow rates
across the full area of mesh. Thus, production and injection processes
are able to achieve the results expected from the original completion
design—and the hardware holds up to the harsh downhole conditions,
ensuring optimal results for an extended period.

FacsRite screens
FacsRite™ screens are robust screens that resist damage even under severe
deployment and operating loads. These screens have significantly more Specialty screens
strength than typical screens to resist deformation and screen damage under MeshRite and FacsRite
load forces. The FacsRite screen’s open flow area is almost double that of
a typical slotted liner. The FacsRite screen also offers the best ID/OD ratio
for flexibility in well design and for applications in which the screen OD is a
critical factor.

OptiPac Alternate Path screens—ensuring complete packs

Our exclusively licensed OptiPac* Alternate Path† screens use shunt tubes with
nozzles to create an alternate flow path that allows slurry to bypass bridges

and fill the voids below them. Use of this technology helps ensure a complete OptiPac
annular pack, thereby eliminating screenouts, reducing the risks of screen
and gravel-pack failure and deterioration in well productivity, and increasing
completion longevity and reliability.

Inflow and injection control devices—designed to optimize recovery

Uniform flow rates are difficult to maintain in formations with variable
permeability, yet they are critical to the success of both production and Inflow & injection
injection operations. Schlumberger inflow and injection control devices (ICDs)
give you the control you need.

They dramatically reduce the effect of water and gas breakthroughs and
optimize injection rates across the full wellbore face despite permeability
variations and thief zones. Either type of ICD, when combined with the
strength and accuracy of Schlumberger screens, gives you an intelligently
integrated flow management system that regulates itself without the need

completions. From basic well and reservoir data, an initial nozzle design is
determined. With a numerical and dynamic simulator, the nozzle design is
evaluated and refined. In an iterative process between the ICD simulator
and a full field dynamic reservoir simulator—Eclipse* reservoir simulation
software—the completion is optimized for long-term well efficiency.

Engineered interfaces—from design to wellsite implementation

Also key in the Schlumberger openhole sand screen design is a
comprehensive understanding of the interactions between screens
and drilling fluids and the subsequent tailoring of the design to fit well
conditions. Screens are selected and sized on the basis of formation sand
characteristics and completion type. Simulations allow reservoir drilling
