The PLO Lumumba Foundation was
registered as a company limited by
guarantee in 1990. It was formed for the
noble cause of assisting the needy and
brilliant students to achieve their academic
dreams; an idea nurtured by the founder,
Prof PLO Lumumba. Born and brought up in
a deprived background, he was a
beneficiary of the generosity of not a very
well endowed philanthropist. His strong
desire to give back to the society compelled
him to start a charitable organisation;
hence, the Foundation carries out charitable
activities targeting the needy in the society
and particularly the youth and women.

We are determined to work with the needy
and disadvantaged groups in society in
order to improve and enhance capacity for
self-development and actualisation.
Our Objectives
1. To nurture young Africans by conducting
mentorship programmes and various
youth activities across Africa
2. To promote education through
establishing learning centers, book
donations, publications and awarding
bursaries to the needy young people to
enable them achieve their academic
dreams

living in rural and low-income urban
areas by organising for medical camps
and health awareness campaigns

Our Programmes
1. The PLO Lumumba School & Center
The PLO Lumumba School & Center is
designed to be a co-education School
and Center which will provide quality
and ethical education to nurture servant
transformational Leaders.
It aims to be a Center of excellence. It
will create an environment where
young men and women develop their
talents to be agents of positive change
in the society.
2. The PLO Africa Mentorship
Programme (PLO AMP)
The PLO AMP is a programme of choice
for and by young people, who will be
nurtured to feel proud of being African
and to use our rich African values and
culture to transform the continent.
3. Annual Medical Camps
We organise annual Medical Camps in
rural and low-income urban arrears.
Some of the medical camps that we
have organised include ‘HEALERS’
MEDICAL CAMP held in Ndhiwa, on
24th September, 2014 in partnership
with Orwa Ojode Foundation.
4. Education Bursaries
We indentify needy and brilliant
students, and support their education
through payment of school fees. A
number of students have benefited from
this initiative to pursue education in
various Educational Institutions in East
Africa.
However, this programme has not
achieved it desired goals. It relies solely
on personal commitment of resources of
the Founder Prof PLO Lumumba.
With increasing numbers of needy
students and the desire to extend its
charitable activities beyond East Africa,
the Foundation finds itself challenged to
adequately cater for these needs due
to financial constraints hence the need
for partnership and seeking sources of
funds that would be adequate, regular
and focused approach to make the
Foundation sustainable.
5. Book Donation
We organise for donation of books to
deserving rural schools in order to
equip and develop their libraries. We
plan to set up well equipped digital
libraries in deserving rural schools.
