Week Three - Research

RESEARCH

What did you learn from your I learned that primary research is just as important as secondary
research? research; I discovered this from being unable to plan and film
focus groups and vox pops due to my ongoing government-
recommended self-isolation.

How has the research into existing
artists and professionals helped you
improve your ideas?
Looking into the professionals of my genre has helped me further
understand how the conventions of horror can be used. Alfred
Hitchcock (‘Psycho’) and Tobe Hooper (‘The Texas Chain Saw
Massacre’) commonly used the slowness for the building of
tension; this is something that I planned to place into my own
work.

How has the research into your target
audience helped you improve your
ideas?
Research into my target audience has helped understand what
to and what not to implement into my work. Due to the COVID-19
outbreak, the only primary research I was able to complete was
an online survey. In this survey, I discovered my age
demographic, alongside the majority of survey-takers believing
violence isn’t necessary for a horror to be effective. This has
helped me understand some aspects to add and remove from
my FMP.

How has the research into your Researching my choice of platform has helped me decide where
platform helped you improve your to place it. Since YouTube is the biggest video streaming website
ideas? in the world that billions use daily, it is already the best place to
put my FMP.

What work do you need to complete Depending on the feedback that I receive, I will have to go back
outside of lessons to stay on track? through LO2 and go further into detail.
