Dear Friend,
Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I want you
to know our church is still praying for you despite everything that is going on in
the world today. God has never changed! He has never given up on humanity.
All throughout history, even though God did not cause crisis, He used the
crisis to bring about change in the world. So often we get to a place of settling in
and our faith actually goes dormant. Faith is not a passive word. It is a word that
must be exercised; faith must be used. It is the very thing that God loves. It could
be in a simple act of kindness to someone else. But faith must be exercised.
Hebrews 10: 35 & 36 says something very interesting. "Cast not away
therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For ye
have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might
receive the promise." When a person does the will of God, the Lord grants them
an inner assurance they are accepted by God. This quiet confidence allows that
person to grow in the Lord. We must know that the Lord paid the penalty for our
sins on Calvary. But He did not take control of our lives, our destiny. He paid for
our liberty so we could pursue the plans He has for us. Some call it destiny, the
overall plan or big picture for our lives. Some say they have a calling or a gift.
But whatever you call it, Jesus Christ paid the price for out fulfillment.
Do not throw away your confidence in God. Even in troublesome times:
keep your confidence in the living God! The people this was written to were
Christians who were converted from Judaism. They had a general knowledge of
God until they heard the Gospel and repented. Paul called it being
"illuminated." The eyes of their understanding were opened and they could see
what the Lord was trying to do all along in their lives.
I just read somewhere that the word for "crisis" in Chinese is made up of
two characters: one represents danger, and the other represents opportunity. It
seems to me that this is what is happening to our world right now. If all we see is
the danger, we will never step out into the opportunities. If we never seek the
Lord and His will, we will never find either Him or His will. Behind us is the
comfortable place of experience. But the person who is willing to take the Lord
by the hand and venture out of that comfortable place into the will of God will
find fulfillment. Doors of opportunity will open and the Gospel will go forward.
Souls will find the rest you have entered into. Yes, we can make a difference in
people's lives, if we will take the Lord's hand and journey with Him into the
wonderful will of God! Regardless of what the future holds, you can have
confidence because the Lord is there with you. He doesn't run at the first sign of
trouble.
This quiet assurance called confidence shows up in our prayer life before it
is manifested. In speaking of love, the apostle John encourages the believer to
love our neighbors, do good to even those who aren't good to us. This love for
others assures our hearts before the Lord and gives us confidence to pray. It is
because the Lord Jesus was our example. "And this is the confidence that we
have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us:
And if we know that He heareth us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we
have the petitions that we desired of Him" (I John 5:14 & 15). So when we
pray for our neighbors and the people of this world, especially now that the
whole world is in such a crisis, it is the Christian who has confidence that the
Lord is still sovereign and He will intervene on behalf of those who are in any
trouble. We are confident the Lord so loves this world that He would give His
only begotten Son to die in our place at Calvary.
If you have this confidence in God, use it to pray for this lost and dying
world. If you don't have this confidence, ask the Lord right now to come into
your heart, forgive you of every sin, and turn your life completely over to Him.
You will never regret a moment of your new life with the Lord Jesus Christ!
As of this writing our church services are being live streamed on Facebook.
But we are still praying for the needs of people. Call us or write to us with your
need. We will certainly pray for the needs we know of. May God bless you!

Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
