 Present Perfect Tense

1. Definition
Present Perfect Tense adalah tensis yang digunakan untuk
mengungkapkan peristiwa atau kegiatan yang terjadi di waktu sekarang
dan selesai saat ini ataupun suatu peristiwa yang bersifat berkelanjutan.
2. The rules of Present Perfect Tense
 Have/has adalah kata kerja bantu (auxiliary) yang digunakan
dalam present perfect tense yang artinya “telah/sudah”.
 Kata kerja “have” digunakan untuk subject ( I,you, they,we)dan
“has” digunakan untuk subject orang ketiga tunggal (he,she,it).
 Kata kerja yang di gunakan adalah kata kerja bentuk ke 3 (Verb.
III)
3. Structure of Present Perfect Tense
(+) S + have/has +V3+ O
(-) S+ have/has + not + V3 + O
(?) have/has + S + V3 + O
4. Example of present perfect tense
 Positive form
 I have bought a new car.
 My mother has broken his leg
 They have had a newborn baby
 Negative form
 We have not been to Jakarta
  She hasn’t written any word yet
 I haven’t bought a new handphone yet
 Interrogative Present perfect tense
 Have you bought a new handphone?
 Why has a car stopped in front of you?
 Has she ever written any love letter?

 Past perfect Tense

1. Definition
Past Perfect Tense adalah tensis yang digunakan untuk
mengapresiasikan/ menyatakan peristiwa/ kegiatan yang
terjadi di masa lampau dan telah selesai pada saat itu.
2. The rules of Past Perfect Tense
 Sama dengan Perfect Tense, Past Perfect Tense juga
menggunakan kata kerja bentuk ketiga ( past participle),
V.III
 Hanya menggunakan satu auxiliary verb yaitu “HAD”
untuk semua subject

 Yesterday
 Last week
 Two days ago
 Last month
 Last year
 Last night
4. Formula of the Past perfect tense
 (+) S + HAD + V.III + O
 (-) S + HAD +NOT+V.III+O
 (?) HAD + S + V.III + O
5. Example of the Past Perfect Tense
  Positif form
 They had meet twice before merried
 I thought he had change to be better man
 You had killed the cat last week
 Negative form
 My brother had not sleep before I came
 Rosi had not finished work when he came her house
 He had not eaten when I called her
 Interrogative form
 Had Panjie said that he gone to school when sinta
called him?
 Had the student gotten a gift after they finished the
test?
 Had Marisa read the novel two times?
6. Other usage of the Past Perfect Tense
a. Digunakan untuk menyatakan sebuah peristiwa di waktu
lampau yag terjadi dalam waktu yang bersamaan

Example: * my sister was came when I had swept the floor

b. Digunakan untuk menyatakan aktifitas yang telah dilakukan
sebelum aktivitas lainnya dilakukan menggunakan kata “….
Before….”
Example: * Rika had gone home before Miss Reyna finished
her lesson
