Introduction
2D components can be created as well as 3D components for inclusion in drafting documents.
This provides you with the ability to detail and enhance your drawings.

Using 2D components
Description of the TopSolid'Wood Drawing library
Since the 2017 version of TopSolid'Wood, a new TopSolid'Wood 2D component library allows you to detail the
drafting documents.

 From a Draft document, select Assembly > Include standard.

 Select the TopSolid'Wood Drawing library.
Interior design elements: 2D symbols for doors, tool symbols (for assembly instructions for example).

Building elements: water points, electrical access, drawing details.

View elements: view scales, coordinate systems and titles, arrows and indicators.

Inserting components
When producing a drawing, the Automatic choice of 2D views function enables you when you create an element
(dimension, view, note…) to make current the closest view so as to create the new element in relation to this view.
This will allow you when you move a view to move all the elements contained in this view at the same time.

However, when you position 2D detailing components in drawings, it may make sense to deselect this option in
order to control the view or the drawing in which the component is placed.
 From the Visibility tab, disable the Automatic choice of 2D views
option.

 Select Current coordinate system.

 Select the view or the drawing where you want to insert the component in order to make it current.

Based on need, making the drawing or the view current allows for different uses:
Making the view current allows you to scale your component to the view.

Making a drawing current lets you insert the component to the scale 1 of the drawing.

Creating 2D components
2D components are created using TopSolid Design files.

Creating a 2D library
As well as a 3D component library, you can create a 2D component library.
 From a Design document, select Tools > Options > Component > User library.
 Click Add, enter the name and the path for the library and then select the 2D library option.

 Click Add and click OK to confirm the options.

This library is available from a 3D Design document or a 2D Draft document by selecting Assembly > Include
standard.

Designing a component
 Create a new 3D file.
Note: 2D components can be set using:
Dimension parameters
Geometrical drivers (like points)
Driving texts

 Create the driving parameter(s) in the component.

Profiles or sketches

Cross-hatched areas

 Select Tools > Cross-hatching area and select the closed profile to be filled with cross-hatching.

 If necessary, you can then edit the pattern by selecting Modify element (pattern, space, orientation) or

change the color by selecting Color.

Note: When you create a cross-hatched area, selecting a sketch will generate the hatching between the sketch's
closed profiles.
However you can edit the cross-hatched area from the construction tree in order to modify the closed profiles
included for the hatched area.

 You can also create a filled area by selecting the first hatching pattern.

Texts

 Create the text by selecting Tools > Text.

 Position the text in the component.

 You can edit the text in order to adjust its position using the Horizontal alignment
and Vertical alignment options.

 To define the text height, open the construction tree and expand the Text node
from the Entities tab.
 Right-click on the text to be set and select Add height parameter.
 Type the parameter and click OK to confirm.

 To set the text value, right-click on the text and select Name from the construction tree's Entities tab.
 Type a name and a designation for this text and click OK to confirm.

 Next select Assembly > Define component > Define drivers.

 Type the text name and click OK to confirm.

Key points
In order to position the component in a drawing, you need to create at least one key point using a coordinate
system you have previously created.
 Create the positioning coordinate system(s) for the component.

 Select Assembly > Define component > Define key points.

 Select the coordinate system(s) you just created, and then give each
coordinate system a name and a designation.

Defining and saving

Just like any component, only the elements contained in the assembly will be included and visible with the
component.
 Open the construction tree and click the Main set tab.
 Right-click on the Assembly line and select Insert.
 Then select the elements to be displayed with the component.
 Once selected, click Stop.
 In the element definition window, click Stop again so as not to define the selected elements.
 Then define the whole component.

 Select Assembly > Define component > Edit/Save template > Save standard template.
 Save this component in the 2D library that was previously defined.
The component can then be used in a drawing.
