MSD80/81 DME FLASH

INSTRUCTIONS
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING NOTES:
The car must be in SLEEP MODE to avoid DME errors.
There are two ways to do this:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable in the trunk OR
2. Open the hood, lock the car (with the remote), and wait 20 minutes.

The following removal instructions are for a 335, other vehicles are similar.

Once the DME is removed, carefully wrap it, include the completed ORDER
FORM (the last page of this manual), and ship it to the closer of one of our
programming centers below:

DME tuning requires a minimum of 1 business day turnaround time and will
return to you via FedEx Ground.

UPON RE-INSTALLATION: Because the flash adapts to your driving style

and specific engine, give the car 100 miles of driving to fully adapt into
your application. It will get better the more you drive it!
1. If you have the factory BMW alarm installed, pull this switch up one click.

2. Pull up on the clips marked in red, twist the sensor in yellow a ¼ turn and
remove.
3. Slip the rubber retainer away from the plastic cover.

4. Do the same with the rear retainer.

5. Carefully lift the snaps away and up to remove the DME cover.

6. Remove the 6x 8mm screws on the cabin air filter cover.

7. Unclip the sensor in yellow, lift up on the clips in red, and remove the 8mm
screw in green (there is another matching 8mm on the passenger side as well).

8. Slowly pull the cable carrier forward to detach.

9. Carefully unclip the rear cable harness clips (3 of them). Pull the flex cable out
of the clips and this will let you remove the entire cabin air filter frame.

10. Slide the two clips (front and rear) on the DME cover to the UNLOCK position.
11. The side retainers clip underneath. Reach under and spread the tabs out and
slide the black retainer clip up.

12. Repeat on the other side.

13. Remove the DME cover. This is your DME.

14. The DME is held in with two tabs (in circles). Slightly pull them forward and
pull the DME up a small amount to free it.
15. The DME has two connectors. Find the locking handle and slide out to the
sides. As you slide them out, it will lift the connector free. Repeat on other
connector.

16. Completed. This is your DME. Installation is these steps in reverse.
