STARTING SEQUENCE OF BFP


 Check that the oil level of Hydraulic coupling is NORMAL. Check that the cooler inlet
valves to Mechanical seal cooler, Lub oil cooler, working oil cooler & BFP motor cooler is
OPEN. Ensure that the scoop of BFP is in MIN position.
 Ensure that the D/A level is NORMAL.
 BFP suction valve should be open, recirculation valve (both at 0mtr & 21mtrs) should be
open. Close the discharge valve & its IBV.
 Start BFP by checking all its permissive. Open Discharge IBV & then its Main Discharge
Valve.
 Keep a watch on motor current & on abnormal sounds. Stop motor if required.
 After giving START command, check that the cooling water supply valve for BFP coolers
opens in AUTO.
 Also check the pressure of LUB oil pump after giving START command.
 Watch the trends of rise in lube oil, working oil & bearing temperatures.

STARTING PERMISSIVE OF BFP


 Suction valve OPEN.
 D/A level NOT LOW (>-100mm).
 Swgr available & not distb & SS in REMOTE.
 Thrust (85°C alarm & 95°C trip)/Jrnl bearing temperature NOT HIGH.
 Motor bearing temperature NOT HI (<90°C).
 Motor winding temperature NOT HI (<120°C).
 Discharge valve closed & recirculation valve OPEN.
 Working oil temperature cooler inlet not HIGH (<110°C).
 Working oil temperature cooler outlet not HIGH (<70°C).
 Lube oil temp at cooler inlet not HIGH (<65°C).
 Lube oil temp at cooler outlet not HIGH (<55°C).
 EPB not operated.
 BFP ON OR recirculation valve NOT OPEN.
 BFP not TRIPPED.
