My Idea

I have decided on my idea to be a short film based on gang crime as my final

project idea. I had chosen this specific idea as gang crime has been increasing
over the past few years especially in the UK. I want as my short film to help
young teens who are stuck in this lifestyle or people who are in danger of this
lifestyle to get shown how to get out. My story will be very realistic as it is
about a young boy who is becoming poor therefore turns to this lifestyle as a
way to make money as a teenager this is very realistic because it is how many
people get into the lifestyle is because of poverty.

As I was thinking about ideas to do I was thinking how I can help the world and
I decided to go for this because people from a young age get stuck into this
lifestyle due to friends and family which ends up causing them grief pain etc.
Also the statistics has shown that gang crime has increased over the years also
the amount of gangs being created have increased as well. This problem has
been around for a long time so I decided to tackle the foundation of this which
is from a young age so I chose to start my short film from when someone who
is not involved in this lifestyle and shows how he gets into. Nowadays this is
done due to family problems or being peer pressured by friends etc.

This is something that I have not experienced myself but I have seen other
people get indulged into the gang lifestyle in front of my eyes so I personally
think that I can do it from their point of view therefore interesting the
audience since it would be made realistically as possible and show what is
going on beneath the shadows in this world

Target Audience

For my target audience I have chosen 14-18 as that is the age where people
statistically get most involved into the crime style. This is the age when people
are starting/ending school therefore they want to try something new and head
towards this lifestyle so they are my primary audience whereas my target
audience could be seen as parents so they can see how easy it is to get
involved into the lifestyle and can see what they can do to stop their children
to get into this lifestyle.

So im trying to attract teenagers or children who are becoming teenagers so

they know what to do in order to prevent this lifestyle also the parents can
know how to stop children getting into this lifestyle therefore they will direct
their children towards the right path and not the gang style.

My Role

My role throughout this production will be to edit and put the production
together this includes getting all the actors ready and editing process also this
includes getting all the equipment ready on time. I have chosen to do most of
this on my own as I think it will personal help me improve as a editor and as a
camera man but if I think I need help in some parts I will ask my mates to help
me. Im going to have a 2 camera set ups so I will need help from someone else
In order to operate the other camera. I myself wont be acting in this

production but I will get someone who I think will do good in the character I
have set . So overall I will be having toe edit the production film a part of it and
get everything ready for the production such as equipment and the days I
need to film so a production schedule will have to be ready.

Rationale

From the past 8 units I have seen that I have done most of pre production
really well and was able to adapt my research to what I have to do for my
project. Also my camera skills are really well done as In some projects I was
able to do b roll on my documentary for example and knew what angles would
be best for the project. For example one of my projects which was a short film
which I felt I had done mildly well and it helped me know how to attract the
audience from the start which I will be taking with me to my final project and
will be inputting that into my work also for my short film there were some
parts where you cant hear the actors very well so to help with that I had
bought a zoom mic so if I am recording outside I can use a zoom mic to focus
on what I need to hear for my production

Project Concept

My goal for this project is to attract young teens and show them how this is not
the lifestyle you should go through also I hope to show some parents on how
to stop their children from going through this. To make this production success
I will need help from my peers by someone operating the camera also I will
need some actors which I will audition for. For this production I will be needing
around 2 cameras with tripods also I will be using a zoom mic when im outside
to capture the actors talking which was a weakness from before. Also I am
asking for people that have gone through this sort of lifestyle to act since they
will be able to act out the character perfectly since it would be realistic
because it is from their lifestyle which will also attract different type of target
audiences.
Also I will be researching other short films associated with this genre so I know
how professionals had attracted the audience and what they had did
specifically in order to do that. Also using my survey I will give people certain

scenarios associated with this lifestyle and see which is the most realistic and
the best one to go for

Evaluation

To evaluate my work, I will be doing weekly blogs every week to assess my self
and see what I can improve on. Also, I will be asking my teacher to check my
work and be critical on what I can improve on so I can improve myself for a
better grade. Also, when I have been sent feedback, I will try to improve on
every part in order to improve myself and also achieve a higher grade. So
overall to improve and evaluate my work I will put detailed information on my
weekly blogs and ask my teacher to hand me feedback in order to improve and
make my work better.

Project Action Plan And Timetable

For my past units ive have always done my work to its deadline and never
seemed to have any problems with reaching my target on time. My time
management was very good, it was good due to the fact that I had always
stuck to my production schedule which I had showed you earlier and this is
always had helped me with my time management and if for a example I didn’t
complete some work I tried to make time in my spare holidays in order to
complete the work. Also I will put in a contingency plan in order to help me
when im stuck in a problem at the moment I should be complete before the
deadline which will help me since I can see what I can improve on and it will
give me time to make my work better and more efficient. Also we have to look
at the certain situation which is the Covid 19 which means that we are not
allowed to leave our homes unless it is a emergency this means I will have to
try and record my production in my home and use family members to help me.
Overall I will meet my deadline by following my production schedule and make
sure everything is available by the to do it.
