#1 Fear The Lord

*2 Kings 4:1

She is grieving the loss of her husband and soon to be the loss of her sons.
She reminds Elisha that her husband feared the Lord.
Where is the promise? Psalm 103:11,13, 17, Psalms 112:1-2

Psa 103:11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy
toward them that fear him.
Psa 103:13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them
that fear him.
Psa 103:17  But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them
that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children; 

Psa 112:1 Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD,
that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
Psa 112:2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the
upright shall be blessed.
Psa 112:3  Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for
ever. 

*2 Kings 4:2

She Has nothing left. We don’t know why. We aren’t told. But we know our own
situations. Have you ever felt like you have nothing left?

Maybe:
Joh 10:10  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:
Steal your joy, peace, love…Steal your fire, your health, your finances, your marriage,
leave in you poverty.

2Ti 3:12  Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 

Or maybe: you left it…on your own.

Rev 2:4  Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first
love.

thou shalt be satisfied with bread. 

Mat 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The
kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in
his field: Mat 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed
tares among the wheat, and went his way.

Elisha’s Response: What Shall I do for thee?

It’s the question we come to God with.

God help me…I have nothing left. My debt to sin has overwhelmed me.

Psa 18:6  In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my
voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. 

#2 Focus on Others, Not Yourself

2 Kings 4:3-5

Turns her attention to empty vessels: Don’t focus on your own emptiness.

Mt.10:39 loses his life for my sake shall find it.

Gal.2:20:
Christ was the vessel that was poured out, and continues to pour out, filling empty
vessels. He gave himself for us. Day of Pentecost
Joel 2:28 Day of Pentecost

2 Cor.4:7…We have treasure in the vessels…oil in us

Mt.25:1-10…were not pouring out… Burned out…five foolish…stop giving…

Mt.7:24-27..doeth them, doeth them not

How? Zech 4:1-6..by my spirit they do them

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the
affections and lusts.
Gal 5:25  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 

#3 Bring Empty Vessels

Rev.14:6-7…Pour ourselves into the world, into the gospel. Mt.28:19…baptizing them…
filling them

The Woman is the church…we bring empty vessels into the house of God to fill
them. Pour it out in church.

Pour out love, joy, peace,…longsuffering.

Romans 8:12-13…the continual spirit continually leads us to not be debtors to the

flesh….because the spirit leads us to empty vessels to fill them, and in filling
them, the Spirit fills us.

Love is the key to indwelling of the Spirit…Only love leads us to seek empty
vessels.

Oil is granted when we give all we have.

When we share the gospel…share the oil…

2 Kings 4:6: The moment we cease to live for others, the oil will cease to flow.

2 Kings 4:7
*****Enough oil to pay your debts.
