Part 1

I personally believe that to an extent I am a good communicator. I am able to get my

point across while being able to also acknowledge that my communication skills do

need improvement.

Some of my strengths in terms of being a good communicator would be the ability to

alter the direction of my conversation in regards to my audience. I would not have a

conversation with my young nieces in the same manner that I would with my boss or a

professor. I am also able to pick up on other people’s body language and able to

determine the circumstances of a situation without having to verbally communicate. A

prime example of this would be when I am working at the restaurant and am able to

establish whether or not my co-worker is in a good mood and if I am going to be doing

most of the waitressing while she primarily stays in the dish room.

I also feel like I am stronger when it comes to written communication as opposed to

verbal communication. An example of this would be a comment I received as feedback

on one of my assignments. The comment had said “I am really impressed with the

written portion specifically for this assignment. Well done!”.

With that being said in terms of weaknesses when it comes to my communication skills,

I find that when having a conversation with another person that I have a tendency of

jumping from one topic to another regardless of whether or not the two topics are

relevant to each other. For example, I will be telling my younger brother one thing and

then in the next breath I am telling him something completely irrelevant and I can’t count

the amount of times he has said “Holy non sequitur”.

Another weakness of mine would be communicating with others verbally as I am lacking

confidence and am hesitant in the way I present or explain my thoughts out of the fear

that I am being judged by another person.

When it comes to the communication skills that I need to improve on it there are two

main ones. The first being how I organize and communicate my thoughts and the

second being my body language, more precisely being able to listen and to focus on

what the other person is saying during a conversation.

In regards to how I organize and the execution of my thoughts and ideas verbally.

Typically, I find that while my thoughts or idea makes perfect sense in my head when it

comes to being able to execute and communicate my ideas with others that is when I

tend to struggle.

The other skill in which I know I need to improve on is my body language and my

listening skills as being an effective listener is just as important as being able to

communicate effectively. I find that when I am having a conversation with another

person, I have a tendency of listening to the person while at the same having many

other thoughts on the go, which causes me to not hear the entirety of the conversation

and I may miss it if they say something that is of importance.

I also have a bad habit of being on my cellphone while another person is trying to have

a conversation with me which because it has become second nature to me, I don’t think

anything of it until somebody asks me if I am actually listening to them rather than

putting away the distractions and giving the person my undivided attention.
How to Price Match Your Groceries.

1) Look through the grocery flyers (paper or digitally), and begin thinking about what
items you are going to need to purchase.

2) Using a pen and paper or your cellphone, write down a list of the groceries that
you will need to purchase.

3) With your list in front of you, once again this time look through your flyers and
find the items on your shopping list. If you’re using paper flyers than mark the
items that you are going be purchasing and if you’re using digital flyers, make
sure you have them saved to your app.

4) Make sure that you have written down the price of the item and which store’s
flyer the item was found in.

5) Grab all necessities and get ready to head to grocery store. Make sure you don’t
forget your wallet, your list and most importantly, your grocery flyers.

6) Once you’re at grocery store, shop for the items on your list.

7) When you are finished your grocery shopping and have gotten all the items on
your list, head to the checkout lanes and begin unloading your cart like you
normally would.

8) When all your items have been unloaded, inform the cashier of which items you
will be price matching.

9) When the cashier reaches the items that you are price matching, show them
where in the store’s flyer you had marked your item. The cashier will then adjust
the price of the item so that you are paying competitors cheaper price .
