Writing is perhaps the most difficult of all the language skills. Even seasoned writers have
to make draft of what they wish to convey before they are satisfied. Most of us are simply scared
of pen and paper. Yet, there is no getting away from writing. Whether we want to remember,
convey or correct something, it is best to put it down in black and white.

Anyone who can write is looked upon with respect in our society. Writing lets you have a
‘voice’ and therefore, people take you seriously. Most of all, our examinations usually use the
written mode. We pass or fail on the basis of the answers we have written to examination
questions. If we cannot write well, we lose marks even if we know our subject.

to a college or for a scholarship, you may be asked to write an essay along with filling out a form.
If you want to apply for a job, you must write your curriculum vitae as well as a covering letter.

Nowadays, recruitment agencies prefer that applicants write an essay in their own handwriting
