1. INTERCOM SYSTEM

The lift contractor shall supply and install a complete intercom wiring from Fire Control &
Security Room at Ground Floor to one slave station at each lift and lift machine room.

The intercom wiring to be connected to the master control station at Fire Control & Security
Room.

The operation of the intercom system shall be as follows:-

a. Call from slave station to master station

When the “Alarm” button at the car operating panel is pressed, buzzers at the master
control station will sound continuously until the handphone is lifted up by a person, while
the indicator will continuously be lighted until the cancellation of the call. When there is a
response from the master station, passengers in the lift car can then talk and listen to the
person in the master station and vice versa.

b. Call from master station to slave station

When the handphone is lifted up and the slave station selector is pressed, the person in
the master station can talk and listen to the passengers in the lift car and vice versa.

2. SUPERVISORY PANEL

The lift contractor shall supply, install, wire and commission a supervisory panel mounted on a
floor standing sheet steel cubicle at Ground Floor Guard House.

The supervisory panel shall have stainless steel face-plates and shall consist of the following:-

a. A multi-light position and direction indicator for each lift, arranged to remain illuminated
showing the position, direction of travel and direction of intended travel of each car. The
lights shall not be illuminated when a lift is switched off of service.

b. Lights to indicate the running and failures of the motor-generator sets.

c. Lights to indicate the source of power the lifts are operating (either on emergency or
normal supply).

d. Lights to indicate the traffic programme under which the lifts are operating.

e. Lights to indicate and common bell to signal that the lift has stopped due to either
overload, overspeed, application of safety gear, or person in the lift car pressing the
“Alarm” button.

The sounding of the bell can be cancelled by pressing the bell reset button, but the light
can only be extinguished when the fault to that lift is cleared.

f. Lights to indicate and bell to signal the operation of the fire detection system in the lift
hoistways and lift motor rooms.

g. Lights to indicate the running and failures of the lift motor room exhaust fans.

h. Lights to indicate that the doors of a particular lift, under emergency power supply has
opened on reaching the ground floor.

i. ON/OFF key switch for switching off each motor-generator set.

j. Two-position (Auto/Manual) key switch for the operation of the lifts on emergency power
supply.

Power supply for the functioning of the supervisory panel shall come from an independent
D.C. battery source of extra-low voltage. This D.C. battery source shall be able to maintain
the functioning of the board for a period of not less than 24 hours.

An automatic trickle-charger shall be provided to trickle-charge the batteries under normal


supply.
