LISTENING LESSON PLAN

Time: 20 minutes
Level: Intermediate
Gender: F/M
Age: 15-16
Materials: Video/ Handouts
Interaction: Ss/Ss – T/Ss
Assumptions:
Anticipated Problems: Time and the complexity of the listening text

OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the students

1.will enhance listening skills


2.will be familiar with listening texts
3.will produce a different end for the text and which improves their
creativity, their speaking skills and their groupworking skills

WARM-UP

Time: 5 min.
Materials: Video and Handout
Interaction: T/Ss– Ss/Ss
What students do: Students are asked to talk about the video and
students are asked to share their opinions about the topic
Grouping: Whole Class/Group Work
Aims:

1. To motivate the students

2. To arouse their interest


3. To make Ss more interseted in the topic

4. To learn about students thoughts about the topic

STEPS

1. Teacher shares her personal experience about first days of


school with students and teacher asks “do you want to watch a
funny video ?”

2. Teacher shows a video about how students feel first days of


school and ask questions “How do Cookie Monster feel?” “What
is Cookie Monster afraid of?” “How do the rest of class feel?”
“Is Kermit the Frog afraid of The teacher?”

3. After gathering answers teacher gives a handout which is a


chart and ask students to complete this chart.

4. After completing the chart students are asked to share ideas


with other students

5. Teacher moves into while listening section.

WHILE LISTENING

Time: 10 minutes( 5 minutes for each session)


Materials: Handout
Interaction: T/Ss Ss/Ss
What students do: Ss are asked to understand the listening text in
detail
Grouping: Whole Class

*FIRST LISTENING

Aims

1. To have students to get the main idea

2. To get the students understand the listening text


STEPS

1. Teacher gives information about the listening text.

2. Teacher explains what students will do and teacher is sure


about whether student understand what they do

3. Teacher gives handouts and before listening the text teacher


gives ten seconds to students to read the informations given in
the handouts.

4. Students are asked the listen the dialogue and re-order the
sentences according to listening text.

5. After completing exercise students are asked to discuss their


answer with their partners in thirty minutes

6. After discussion answers are checked

*SECOND LISTENING

Aims

1. To get the students have more specific informations

2. To have students understand the text completely

STEPS

1. Teacher gives handouts and teacher gives them to ten


seconds to read the information given in the handout.

2. Students are asked to listen to the text again and while


listening choose the best answer, circle a b c or d

3. After listening students answers are checked

4. Teacher summarizes what students have learnt and move into


the post listening stage
*POST LISTENING

Time: 5 minutes
Materials: -
Interaction: T/Ss – Ss/Ss
What students do: The Ss are asked to write a different end for
the dialogue and act it out
Grouping: Pair work
Aims: To improve their speaking skills and their creativity

STEPS

1.Teacher summarizes the end of the diaologue

2.Teacher explains what students are asked to do in detail

3.Teacher divides class into group of two

4.Students are asked to think about different endings for the


dialogue which they have listened and to act it out

5. Teacher checks whether students understand what they are


asked to do and gives them five minutes on this

6. After students completing their dialogues they are asked to come


to the stage and to act it out
